Chapter 32 - Close Confessions
Bullet dropped me off at my residence, and I did not waste time in looking for Maria. She was not to be found in the kitchen, any of the three living areas, or the dining room. I felt an unbearable weight of burning silver in my hand. My objective was to eliminate it as soon as possible. I was apprehensive about having it.
"What the hell is the matter with you?" While checking one of the bathrooms, Tessa abruptly interrupted me.
"I'm looking for your mom."
"Why? What is so necessary that you are running around like a fool?"
"Can you just tell me where she is?" With irritation, I exhaled.
"All right. She is talking with that cute newcomer in the garden at the back"
The jealousy I experienced was unwarranted and immediate.
"Evan?"
"Oooh, yes that's his name, the new garden guy."
I did not let her rest for an additional moment. At once, I emerged and proceeded to the garden. The only time I paused was to inquire, "Is Damon around?"
She responded, "No, the master is still out."
"Can you please make sure there's more of that headache medicine in my room?" I was once again on my way.
On the grass on the opposite side of a pavement wall, I could discern two figures in the moonlit distance. That was indeed Maria and Evan. He appeared to be mowing the remaining portion of the lawn that had already been completed, while Maria engaged in a vigorous discussion with him. The silver felt like a hot brick in my hands, and I began to jog once I got close enough. I had been walking rapidly at the time.
"I got it! Ihave what we need!" I exclaimed, drawing their attention.
"Can you keep it quiet!" Maria threatened, "You may be heard by someone."
"What did you get?" inquired Evan this time.
"The silver!"
Maria expelled a shriek, and Evan gazed at me as if I had grown an additional head.
"I'm not lying, look!" I initially unwrapped the contents of a paper bag, followed by the container, which revealed a small earring in the form of an aircraft. The two of them gazed at it in astonishment for a brief period. Finally, Maria removed it from my hand and brought it to her eyes for observation.
"Is it the real deal?" Can you tell?" Evan stated something.
Maria finally asked, "From where did you obtain this?" after a period of time.
"Tiffany had it-"
"I told you not to tell anyone!"
"I didn't tell her! While we were at the market, the recipe-containing piece of paper that I was carrying fell from my pockets and was taken by her. She figured it out on her own. She wants to help."
"She is mated to thr Beta! She is dangerius and cannot be trusted."
"You must have faith in me; Tiffany proves to be reliable. I have witnessed his treatment of her; he violently assaults her. She is equally enthusiastic about participating in this, as are you and I."
Maria expelled a puff of air and directed her irritation toward me. Evan once more inquired, "Is it genuine silver?"
"Really, it is.It is silver, but I am not sure if it is sufficient for the recipe.
"No, no. This must suffice."
"I will measure it out, but not tonight. It is not advisable for Damon to return home tonight; I am concerned that he will sense this. " I will hide it for the time being, and I will determine the best course of action tomorrow."
"The mushrooms and the Wolfsbane need to be used while they are still fresh, the women who wrote the recipe told me this-" Evan commenced.
"The mushrooms and the Wolfbane are the least of our concerns; we have the capacity to acquire dozens more. I believe this is more important."
Maria swiftly removed the wrappings from my grasp and returned to the inside.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Initiated by Evan.
"Tell you what?"
"About Tiffany."
"She called me as soon as we got home, there was no time."
"It's dangerous to have done that on your own, If you had gotten caught-"
I tried to ease Evan's anxiety. "But i didn't. The entire time, I concealed it by spraying it with perfume to ensure that Bullet was unaware of its presence."
Evan sighed and continued to let the lawn mower to enter a small, dark room within the garage.
As he rearranged certain items to accommodate them, I watched.
"Did they really think a supply closet this small will suffice for a home this big?" He groaned to himself, and at that moment, the tools tumbled from the top shelf to the ground. I hastened inside to assist him in gathering items.
While retrieving fragments of a vase, I cautioned, "Be careful, there is glass."
"He has planned to eradicate a village in New Brunswick." Suddenly, Evan stated, "That was the subject of their meeting."
"I am aware," I sighed.
"He's pure evil and there is nothing we can do to prevent him from taking all those liv-"
"We can try!"
Evan abruptly dropped everything and stood up.
He abruptly exclaimed, "This is foolish."
"It's not a big deal Evan, when the sun comes out we'll be able to better clean this room up-"
"No, I am not talking about this inane closet. I am talking about this plan!"
"What do you mean?" I was taken aback.
"It's too risky, if he even has the slightest idea or suspicion of what we are doing, it's game over for the both of us."
"Evan, calm down and think," I placed a warm hand on his chest. "Regardless of whether he had a plan or not, the game was over for us. In the end, Damon will eliminate every human. He has all of the votes he requires; this is the only hope we have left."
"How do we know the council will go for it-"
"They have to, it's their own tradition."
"What do we tell them?" To killthe vampires, how can we devise an improved plan than theirs?"
According to Tiffany, vampires are unable to consume werewolf blood, which is why they rely on human blood. Upon entering a human body, a single molecule of werewolf blood can render the blood toxic to vampires. We will tell them of the plan to inject every human. We will think of something, but the solution will not involve the extinction of the human race."
A nod was given by Evan. He sighed in exasperation.
"Listen, I'm in this with you, and we're so close," As I approached him, I placed both of my hands on his torso. His breath wafted at the stands of my hair, and I suddenly realized how close I had gotten to him.
"We can do this," he said.
With expressions of sadness, he gazed downward at me. It was my deepest desire to embrace him and weep for hours, as well as to kiss him. I came to the realization that I greatly missed him. It struck me like a ton of bricks, and the sensation of beholding and caressing him was almost eerie. It felt as if my mind was just now seeing him for the first time like a dead person who's come back to life. I could remember days I cried for hours over Evan.
I had failed to acknowledge the passage of time and the extent to which I had once loved my old friend and lover.
Evan moved his hand upward to caress the hair on my cheekbones. Presently, I was on tippy toes.
"I really missed you," he murmured through his tears. His forehead was placed on mine, and he wiped away the tears that had fallen.
"You have no idea how much I searched for you," Evan exhaled. "I asked about you with everyone I could find for years. I was unable to accept your death; I did not leave a stone unturned."
"I can't believe this is happening," I choked on my own sob," it's like it's all suddenly crashing down on me, how did this happen."
"You will be fine. Now that I have found you, I assure you that I will never allow anyone to cause you harm."
I hid my head beneath his jawline and embraced him as tightly as I could. My sense of security was briefly restored. Something fell from the sky, and we dispersed to allow Evan to retrieve the object.
"What the hell is going on here?" I was convinced that the floor was shaking as a result of the voice's forceful and enraged tone. Evan and I separated, and i saw Damon standing at the entryway.
