Chapter 18. Fury
**18. Fury**
**RAFAEL's POV:**
Fury boiled within me when I discovered my mate was fleeing. She knew I was her mate, yet she ran from me. A realization hit me like a sledgehammer – she didn't want me. I didn't get to see her face, and something inside me was begging me to go grab her. She didn't even look back twice, a part of me screamed to chase after her.
I had to stop here, or else I would be trespassing on werewolf territory, which would result in a war between two vicious creatures. Because I was the one who had crossed the line, I had to give up because that is what the rules state.
"No... No, I can justify myself if I am caught, but only if I get caught in the first place," I whispered to myself before resuming my pursuit of her.
I stood back as I saw her enter a house with a nameplate on the gate indicating that it belonged to Pack Omega. I'm guessing she's Omega's daughter or visiting them.
I waited for approximately an hour and because of my hearing ability I could tell there was a commotion going on inside after another hour, no one showed up, and then I noticed some wolves with my mate's scent on them coming out.
I had to leave. Otherwise, they would consider me an intruder. I can come back tomorrow and take care of things civilly. If I enter through the actual borders, proving that I mean no harm, I am sure everyone will greet me with open arms. I retreated on my back and went back the way I came.
I had the impression that this was not her first visit to that special place in the heart of the other realms; how could she have entered it in the first place?
Yes, she is my mate, which is why she would have automatic access. Whenever I came here to get some peace of mind, I always felt that there was something in this place that was attractive—perhaps it was her presence that captivated me.
Before confronting the pack, I needed information about her and the reason for her to run away from me. Reluctantly, I contacted Bryan, despite my disdain for him. "Bryan, I need you in my office." I don't want to waste my energy on him, even though I could telepath him.
"You are disturbed, your highness. Did your mate flee from you?" he joked. I was astonished, but more than that, I was annoyed. Even though he was joking, this jackass got on my nerves.
If he knew my mate had done that, he'd be sweating right now because he knows what happens to him when I'm angry.
"Let me make it clear to Bryan, I am in a bad mood, and if you dare to make it worse, I will kick you in the balls" I warned.
I could hear him gulping "Please, Your Highness, don't do anything to my balls. I haven't even found my mate yet," he begged.
Why does he always get to mates in the middle of a conversation? I remained silent and ended up dismissing the call. I went upstairs to my office and waited for him. I checked my watch; he shouldn't be late.
We have specific abilities as vampires, and each one is granted to them when they are changed or created. I don't mean telepathy or teleportation when I say special powers. It's more like a characteristic. Like one is good at reading minds (by their actions), others are good at detecting lies. Some dumb, like Bryan, are brilliant at finding information, which is the only reason I'm enduring him.
For me, I don't have just one power; I can read minds, that is, I can genuinely read minds. I am the only vampires that can teleport, but only during the day. My mother once told me that when I find my mate, my strengths will be quadrupled, implying that I will be able to teleport at night as well, but only if I mate with her. But here, my little mate dared to flee from me. I'll keep looking until I find the answers.
There were so many things I planned to do with my mate, but that fiery creature thwarted all of my intentions.
Bryan arrived quickly. "You're late," I said, smirking.
"Sorry, Your Highness, I was stuck somewhere," he said, sweating and reading his thoughts. I could tell he was telling me the truth.
Even though I possessed the ability to read people's minds, it only worked when they were a little distance away.
"All right, I want you to do something for me," I murmured, staring at him.
"Yes, sir," he said as he saluted me.
I told him about the area and Omega's residence and any information about any girl in there and urged him to get back to me as soon as possible.
I wanted to get rid of him soon, but he just stood there staring at me. "What do you want now, Bryan?" I irritated asked.
"Your Majesty Rafael Delmar is interested in learning more about a girl, which is intriguing." He gave me a witty look.
"Keep your nose out of my business, Bryan," I snarled.
"Sorry, sir, you tell me anything to do, I will do it in a blink, but I can't keep my nose out of your business because that's my business" he laughed like a maniac.
"Bryan, I have no time, so get lost and come with the information quickly," I said, handing him the papers that contained my seal, which signifies that Bryan means no harm.
"Sorry, sir, I won't go this time until you tell me about it. Last time you evaded my question about those business associates," he grinned at me.
"Bryan..."
"Please, Your Highness, this is something new for me, and I need to know why before I do anything," he begged, his puppy dog eyes wide.
"She's my mate," I exclaimed.
He was bound to find out sooner or later that it was a good thing I got rid of. Now I feel a lot lighter. "What?!?" he exclaimed as if reading his mind. I'm sure he was thinking about how calm I was even after finding her.
We, as territorial creatures, want to lay claim to our mates as soon as possible, and it amazes me that I, the feral one, haven't done anything restless as of yet. He wouldn't be here in front of me right now wasting my time if he understood what my thoughts were telling him.
"You found our queen and didn't tell us?" he exclaimed.
"Precisely," I said, shrugging.
He was wasting my time standing here when he could go obtain the information I needed so I could go get her. "Then why are you here, and why didn't you go get your mate here?" he said again.
God, how can someone talk so much and never get tired? If I spoke half as much as he did, my jaw would be hurting by now.
"No more questions. Just get the information," I commanded.
He wasted no time in obtaining this info, and he soon returned with it the other day.
"Do you have everything I requested?" I asked.
"Yes, My King, here is the file with her information," he said as he gave me a file.
"You don't have a picture of her?" I asked.
"Oh, you wanted that?" he asked, frowning.
Idiot! I'm becoming antsy to see her, and this jackass has returned empty-handed.
"Okay, leave; I'd like to see her after my mood improves," I whispered.
Astrid Stephanie Jones is her name. I read the first line and then the information, which had all of her basic information. Why wasn't anything said about her wolf if she was a werewolf?
Anyway, I'll sort it out later. My concentration was disturbed when a knock came on the door.
"Come in," I grumbled. I didn't want to be distracted in the middle of what I was doing.
"Sir, I just got one vital piece of information for you, and it's essential that you hear it," Bryan said as he entered his face solemn.
"Does it have anything to do with work?" I asked.
"No, Sir, it's about the Queen," he hastily clarified.
I became tense. "What is it?" I quickly asked.
"Sir, there is an auction two days later. Individuals from various realms participate, and our queen is a major attraction for the bidders," he finished.
No, this cannot happen.
