Chapter 57. Prophecy

**57. Prophecy**

***Rafael's POV:***

"A Vampire-Demon Hybrid The Demon king"

When I heard her say that, a shudder raced down my spine. I couldn't believe it; how could I be a hybrid and king in two places? Now that I think about it, everything is starting to make sense, which might explain why I experienced what happened.

"Really?" I asked, finding it difficult to believe.

"No, I'm kidding," Cindy sneered sarcastically.

"So, what took me so long to figure it out? Where was he there all this time?" I asked.

"Huh," she grumbled.

"Please do me a favor. I had planned to complete this portion later, but kindly teleport us into your library so we can continue there," she stated.

"Are you aware of my teleportation ability?" I frowned.

"I told you, Rafael, I know you better than you know yourself," she joked.

"But you asked me not to use the magic here." I mentioned it, referring to what was mentioned in the letter.

"Oh sure, I did, but just to keep myself safe, you know your father might have discovered me just like he attempted multiple times, and that's also why I avoided showing up when my butler notified me of your arrival," she said.

"All right, draw the curtain, and I'll take us back to my mansion, and you're free to come and stay with us," I said.

It would be good to have her among us. We can get both physical and mental help. And before anybody asks, yes, I trust her because I can see in her that she actually cares for me, and after me and Eva, if I saw the desire for my mother in someone's eyes, it had to be Cindy.

"I'd love to, but only if it's convenient for you both," she said.

"We would be pleased to have you around," Astrid said.

"All right then," she said, swiveling her fingers, and whatever she desired materialized in front of us. We were astounded to see this. "Close your mouth, guys; you have a lot more to see," she smirked at us.

She drew the veil, and I transferred Astrid and her into the mansion, but not into the main hall, but into our library.

"Hmmm, let me see which book you're referring to," I said as I rose up and brought her all the volumes I had taken from our castle.

She closed her eyes and began reciting some spells. We were shocked once again when the volumes in front of us rose from the desk and were divided into two sections, followed by the book she desired that started glowing in front of us.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, earning a chuckle from Cindy.

I completely believe that we have every right to be proud of our assets, and as I am, Cindy has the same right.

She raised her hand, and the book appeared and landed in her grasp. I haven't seen this dire magic anywhere, though I always had an immense connection with witches like Alice; they don't have these powers. If I had known Cindy existed, I would have brought her here when I was about to lose Astrid.

She slapped the book down on the table, and unlike other books holding magic, this one was a small book the size of a children's fable, with black and gold hues embellishing it. She took out the book and turned to a specified page.

"I need both of your blood; give me your hands," she asked Astrid and me, and we proceeded. She made little slashes in our palms and began dripping blood over the paper.

"Yup, now that will come up," she muttered to herself. After a while, letters began to emerge on the paper as she began, but the language was foreign to us.

Cindy took the book in her hand and began reading, none of which I could understand. As she did so, her eyes widened, and sweat began to form on her brow.

Astrid stared worriedly at me and silently pleaded with me to stop Cindy, but I didn't think it was acceptable, so I stayed silent. When she began shivering, we were about to stop Cindy, but she signaled with her hands not to. She opened her eyes, gasping for oxygen after what seemed like an eternity of shaking.

Astrid rushed to her side and comforted her. "Are you okay, Cindy? Cindy?" She asked.

She slumped into a nearby chair and turned to face us. "You're not prepared for what I'm about to say," she cautioned.

"Huh?" Astrid frowned.

"I thought you were just a Lycan, Astrid, but you're more than that."

"What exactly do you mean?" She asked.

"Tell me, Astrid, how many times you've felt like you've died?" She asked.

"Three or four, perhaps, but every time I feel like I'm given a new life," Astrid responded without even having to stress her brain.

"Don't lie, but tell me that you still feel the loss of your mate and the sorrow of rejection, don't you?" she asked.

"Don't get me wrong, Rafael, but she has a point. Even if I have no feelings for them, my body still feels the agony even though I don't think about it." She expressed herself.

"It's all right, little dove. I understand your sentiments, and it is not your fault that your body is refusing to comply." I would have wanted to add that she would have notified me about it, but I don't want to worry her.

"That's because you died at those moments, Astrid," Cindy explained.

"What!!!" I and Astrid exclaimed together.

"Yes, Astrid, tell me you didn't pass out after all those episodes, or were you in a coma? Astrid, tell me about those times," she pressed.

Astrid described the pain she felt when Edward mated with Charlotte in the tree house; another time when the second guy died; and still another time when Scarlet appeared following.

"Yes, you didn't pass out at those instances; you actually died and resurrected yourself all the while, and you did it to Rafael or maybe others I'm not aware of," she shrugged.

"But Scarlet, my Lycan, she constantly used to say that I had rescued myself several times, but how?" she asked.

"Because you are a necromancer, Astrid," Cindy stated. My and Astrid's eyes widened in surprise. "Yes, that's someone who can bring the dead back to life, but it comes at a high price," she explained.

"Is that the reason?" Astrid began, but she was too stunned to even say a word.

"Yes, the times you resurrected yourself, there was something more that you lost in the process. Better than me, you are aware of what has damaged you. Maybe you have scars that will never heal as the consequences," Cindy pointed out.

"Shit," I said as I yanked on my hair.

Everything makes sense now. It was Astrid who accidentally revived all of us and fainted before we could reclaim our lives, and the fact that her wounds aren't mending implies she'll have them for the rest of her life.

"Does that imply I can resurrect the dead?" Astrid asked, her gaze fixed on me, and I was quick to notice the glimmer in her eyes.

"Don't even think about it, Astrid. Nature asks for balance, and all works at precise periods. You can't revive someone who has been dead for decades. I know you've been thinking about Fiona all this time, but believe me, you can't. But there is more power to you," Cindy said.

Yes, having my mum back with me would be lovely, but it's too late now.

"How so?" Astrid asked.

As you mentioned, climate change happens when you are extremely sad or happy, but that's nothing to worry about. You know, as a necromancer, you are capable of sucking the life force out of people just by glaring at them, so to be short, if you are going to take lives, you will be stronger. If you are going to give life that brings someone back from death, your energy will be drained, or maybe your life could be on the line too." She exhaled a sigh.

"It's okay, little dove. I know how difficult these things are for you to understand, but it's okay; no one can understand your predicament better than me." Yes, we are in the same boat, recognizing ourselves and embracing reality since there is nothing else we can do. This is an aspect of our existence that we must accept and learn to live with.

"Okay, I see no danger in this. We'll be OK if we can keep Astrid from using her and my powers in the wrong way, right?" I asked. "What did you see in the prophecy that made you so afraid?" I asked.

"You notice this term, this states." She began speaking incoherently, which I couldn't understand.

"Cindy I'm not sure what that phrase means; could you perhaps explain it briefly?" I asked.

"Okay, this states that when two hybrids join, they will be the end of all evil, but because one of them is a necromancer, the world will do all it can to stop it. The Demon King and Necromancer are diametrically opposed beings. Nature will do everything possible to keep them apart, yet when they do meet, the demon king will only unleash his power after completing the mating process with his mates, which his enemies do not want because, whatever good he may have held, he is a demon from within, and once he is at full power, he will unleash hell on Earth, killing everyone and bringing the world to an end." Cindy finished. "So once you are mated fully, Azael will acquire his full power."

My mouth dropped to the ground. How is this even possible? My eyes welled up with tears. When I met my mate after generations of waiting and when we were finally starting to get closer, our destiny doesn't want us to.

"Is this why Astrid was assigned two mates to keep her away from me?" I asked.

"That may be it; that's the link we could use," Cindy groaned.

I stared skeptically at Astrid, who had fear written all over her face and was mute.

"Little Dove," I said, my hand on her shoulder.

"What are we going to do now, Rafael?" she asked as she held me.

I drew her in and touched her face. "We have to give up my love in order to preserve our people We weren't meant to be; therefore, we must part ways. I will always love you, but our physical union is not feasible." I joined our foreheads, lost in our own moment of misery.

"Do you understand what I'm saying, guys?" Cindy asked.

"What now? We're willing to abandon our mating procedure if it means we can save everyone," I declared, annoyance bubbling within me due to the entire experience.

"Remember what I said: either you shouldn't have begun the mating procedure, or you should finish it when we have time," she groaned again.

"But," I said again, tugging at my hair.

Astrid exclaimed, "You can't do it now because you've provoked Azael, and if you delay his full wrath, Rafael will die, and not even Astrid will be able to bring you back to life."

"You must finish the mating process, and if all goes well, Astrid may be able to put off the hellfire, but only when Rafael is on the verge of death once again." She pointed, but her eyes were fixated on the main door of the library behind us. She was becoming more anxious by the minute.

Her "maybe" was concerning what might happen someday.

I was going to ask her more about the incident when the library door opened.

When I sensed Bryan's presence behind me, I relaxed.

"You know, you might have..." He was accompanied by another man, but he stopped speaking.

I turned around to face him. His eyes were wide open as he looked at Cindy. Their gazes were fixed on each other.

"Mate!!!" They both exclaimed at once.
