Chapter 23
I walked slowly down the hall, I was having a class at hall DC20 where I had introduction to chemistry. I already knew my class very well, thanks to Anwar who showed me around.
I entered into the big class, and I was met with a whole lot of people. black, white, Asian and so on. This looked beautiful to the eyes. I took a sit with a girl who smiled at me cheerfully, she looked Asian.
"Hello" I greeted and she smiled. I focused my attention on the screen which was before me. It had 'welcome to EU' Engrossed on it.
"Nice" I mumbled. The lecturer walked in with a scowl on his face. He looked like a person who had just lost his wife. He looked in his early fifties but with the spectacles you would think he is over hundred.
"Good morning student of EU" he greeted. His accent could swipe a person of its feet. It sounded amazing.
"I am Mr Akash Gorodia and I am your chemistry 101 Teacher" with that said by him, the class began. The class was going nice until he pointed at me and asked me to get up.
"Me?" I asked while pointing at myself.
"No, your shadow. Common I'm speaking to you, name sixteen chemicals used in bleeshing A human body surface?" He asked and I felt lost. I wasn't paying attention, for one I didn't even know he was talking, he was so dull.
"I don't know sir" I responded truthfully and the whole class erupted into a pille of laughter.
"How dumb, what country are you from?" He asked with his hands at Akimbo.
"Nigeria" I responded proudly. Well I am proud of my country.
"How pathetic, No wonder you are so dumb" he said and I formed a fist.
"No, you are dumb!" My voice came out rather too loudly. The class gasped.
"What did you say?" He questioned while adjusting his spectacles.
"I said you are dumb" I repeated again which earned me another loud gasp.
"Get out of my class" he said.
"Happily, I do not want to be thought by a racist like yourself. I want to remind you that Nigeria is one the most prominent countries in Africa. And seeing you, I bet you are an Indian. I love and respect your country so I won't insult it, but do not let me point out your hiccups" I said and dramatically walked down the stairs with everybody watching and clapping for me.
"This class is over" I could hear him say as I walked out. What an old hag!.
****
"Yeah I insulted him" I said. My head was still boiling.
"Wow, that is brave!, well you do know you can report him!"Anwar said while taking a turn towards my dorm.
"Nah that's not necessary" I responded. I can't just report a lecturer on my first day of school. And plus maybe he might have children my age.
"Hello what is it mama's boy!?"Anwar said the minute he picked the call. He placed his phone on his ear.
"No! I'm not branching at the mall, yes I don't wanna" Anwar halted Infront of El Batidor.
"No... Mama's boy you are very annoying" he said and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Its my friend, yeah the one from the airport" he said while rolling his eyes.
"You have a rotten mind" he said "alright don't tell mum, I'll stop by the mall" he said.
"You play dirty" he said before hanging up.
"So wanna accompany me to the mall?" He asked and I glanced at the time. It was just 11:44.
"Sure let's go" I said and he immediately ignited the car. And drove out of the school, we headed to the mall.
"So do you have Any family member living here?" He asked.
"No, but my dad's best friend leaves here. And speaking of that, I gotta go see her soon" I said. I really need to go see aunty Monica.
"Why don't you go see her today?, I could drop you off On our way back from the mall" he said.
"No, she has traveled. That's why I am still here" I said and he nodded while cranking up the volume of the radio.
"I love this song" He said and began humming and I decided to hum along with him.
We drove for thirty minutes until we reached the big mall which stood in all glory "Let's go" he said cheerfully while hopping out.
We both walked out of the car and walked towards the entrance where we were scanned in case we had any dangerous weapon with us. Then we were let in.
"Now what do I buy?, he didn't even inform me" Anwar said while scrolling through his phone which he placed on his ear.
"Why isn't he picking up?" he said and I chuckled.
"Be calm" I said and he nodded. "Finally, what did you say you want again?" He asked immediately his brother picked the call.
"How on earth do you want me to know your likes and dislikes?. You have gotten more annoying mama's boy" he said. He looked very angry, stressed and exhausted as we both walked further into the malls clothing store.
"Alright, I'll try my best. But do not complain" he said. "You are not welcome" he said in a chuckle before hanging up.
"You won't believe what he wants me to help him buy!" He said.
"Clothes?" I said in a duh tone.
"Yeah, how did you know?, were you hearing us!?" He asked.
"No, you led us to a clothing store so I reckon its a cloth we'll buy" I said while staring at a beautiful trouser that hung beautifully on its hanger.
"Yeah he wants Gym wears" he said and I did my mouth in a Oh fashion.
"Well let's check if we'll find his taste" I walked into the store swiftly.
"You are gonna help me please" he said "he is your brother. You should know what he likes" I said while playing around with a shirt.
"Please" he said and I smiled with a nod while we both walked to where a whole lot of gym wears were hanged.
"So Let's chose two perfect shorts" he said while walking towards a place titled gym shorts.
"Alright" we walked there and he took three gym shorts which he said would suit his brothers skin. He picked blue, yellow and black. Then we picked three trousers of same colors to the gym shorts.
"Pick this" I said as soon as my eyes sighted a headband that looks exactly like the one sufy gave me.
"That is thoughtful of you, he might like it?, I have never seen him wear one though" Anwar said while picking it up.
"yeah he might like it" I mumbled. The thoughts of sufy clouded my mind and a smile graced my lips. I could remember the day he gave me his headband visibly.
"let's select some sporr shoes" he said and we both strolled towards the shoe racks while talking on necessary and unnecessary issues.
