Chapter 14
Althea woke up, and she left out a yawn. She uses her finger to scrub her eye gently, trying to clear away the dizziness in her eyes. She uses her hand to search on the bed for Xavier, and she sighed heavily when she found him sleeping beside her peacefully. She smiled as she watched him sleep beside her. A gasp left her mouth immediately after she saw he had his hand wrapped around her waist. She knows he will never do that to her when he is conscious.
Xavier stirred up from his sleep, and Althea looked away immediately. He removed his hand from her waist and moved far away from her on the bed. He stood up with a furrowed brow as he stared at Althea who was on the bed avoiding his gaze which pierced into her soul.
"Good morning," Althea greeted as soon as he removed his gaze from her body, which felt like a load had been lifted off her shoulders.
Althea sighed heavily when he saw him walk into the bathroom without replying to her. She was hurt by his reaction and she bowed her head sadly at how he treated her.
Xavier walked into the bathroom and brushed his teeth while staring in the mirror looking at his abs. He washed his mouth with water and proceeded toward the shower. He let the water of the shower fall freely on her body, he felt at peace for being away from her. She has been an annoying pest to him lately, and he wanted to be away from her for a moment. He scrubbed his body with the sponge, and he let the water wash away the foams of soap that was on his body.
He walked out of the bathroom with a towel tied to his waist, and he looked around the room trying to spot Althea but she wasn't in the room.
He walked into the closet to find a decent dress for his outing. He walked out of the closets wearing a blue well-ironed shirt coupled with black jeans making him look like the badass he was.
His hair was curly which made him look like a Greek god, and his look can make a girl fall for him at first sight. With the first look at him, the impression you will have is that he was a well-behaved boy but you wouldn't know the kind of devil he is inward.
He walked out of the room with a briefcase in his hand which was collected from him by a guard who was waiting for him at the door. He walked into the dining room and to his greatest surprise he didn't meet Althea there but he shrugged it off his mind not wanting to worry about her. The maid served his food and he ate in silence with a deep frown.
He gulped down the juice which was poured in a cup by a maid, he dropped the cup on the table with a loud bang which made the maids shift away from him in fear. They would all have thought that the cup would break but he did it in a way that will make it not break.
The auras emitting out of his body make the maid cower in fear, and they all breathe a sigh of relief when they see him walk out of the dining room. They all keep praising Althea that she was able to keep up with his cold attitude.
Xavier walked out of the mansion toward the garage where the car was parked, the guard he saw on his way bowed their heads in respect for him when they set their eyes on him. He ignored their greetings, and one of the guards opened the door of the car for him and he entered.
Althea could be seen staring at the flowers in the greenhouse lovingly, she stared at them with adoration. She has always wanted her life to be as easy as theirs but to her dismay, her life can't be like she thought. Her life has been filled with ups and downs, and she has been pushing through to survive. Her life was already decided by her father before she was born, and she has been sold to another man.
The most painful aspect is that her father still has the gut to collect the money which was given to her by the man again. Her father collected the money, he should have rejected it but he didn't which only made her hate him more. He acted as if he cared for her but he was only doing it to make him earn her respect. She has always admired the plants which have freedom, and the only problem they have is that weeds disturb them but that isn't the main issue because she can still keep up with that.
She left out a dry laugh as she stood up when she heard her stomach grumble. She just remembered that she hadn't taken anything since morning. She walked out of the greenhouse toward her room but she couldn't call it her room because it was not only for her but for the both of them.
She walked into the bathroom and brushed her teeth before having her bath. She applied lotion to her body. She wore the clothes which had been prepared by the maid for her.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror, and she let out a sigh. She climbed down the stairs and walked toward the dining room. The maids served the food and she ate the food angrily that one would think she has not eaten for a week. She wiped her mouth with the napkin which was laying on the table motionless. She drank some water and rested her head on the headrest which was aligned with the chair.
She stood up from the chair after a while and headed to the library to bury herself in her fantasy. She took a book from the shelf and started reading it, she soon fell asleep while reading the book.
Althea woke up and she looked around the room with a deep sigh as she remembered she was reading a book while she fell asleep. The book was on her lap and she took it from her lap before returning it to where she took it. She walked out of the library toward the room. She sighed tiredly as she popped down on the bed. She thought about how her life had taken a turn, and she was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't know when Xavier entered.
Xavier entered the room with an exhausted look plastered on his face, and he rolled his eyes when he saw Althea lost in thoughts. A bag was in his hand when he entered, and he dropped it on her lap which jolted her out of her thoughts.
Her face burned with embarrassment, and she lowered her face not wanting to look at his face.
"Good evening," she greeted Xavier with her head still bowed.
"Good evening, you can have that, it's yours" he replied and she opened the bag.
Her mouth was agape immediately after she saw the content which was in the bag. There in the bag was a phone and a laptop, she was extremely excited that she stared at them in disbelief. She has never used it in her entire life. This will be the first time she would be using it, and he said that it's hers.
She dropped the phone and laptop carefully on the bed and moved toward Xavier who was seated on the bed.
"Thank you so much, words can't explain how happy I am," Althea said and he nodded his head not interested in her appreciation.
Xavier left the room after he saw how Althea behaved after seeing his little gift, and he couldn't help but chuckle at how silly she is. He entered his study room and sat on the chair. He sighed heavily as he shuffled through the files which were on the table in his study room. His lips pressed into a thin line when he saw the file he was looking for, he smiled widely when he remembered her reaction. He frowned suddenly when he remembered that it was her first time using a mobile phone, and she needed someone's assistant to help her get acquainted with it and how it works.
He picked up his phone which was on the table, and he scrolled through the list of his contacts. He dialled a number, and the person picked up almost immediately.
"I want you to teach her how to operate the phone and laptop," he said immediately after the person picked up the call.
"Okay, Boss. Consider it done" the person replied and he disconnected the call immediately.
Althea was in the room trying to get to know how it works but she couldn't. She was still trying to do that when she heard a knock on the door. She dropped the phone carefully beside her while gazing at the door briefly.
"Come in, the door is not locked" she yelled as she looked at the door waiting for the door to open. A maid entered with a man behind her, and she furrowed her brows in confusion while staring at her.
"Why are you here?" She questioned as she stared at the both of them.
"I'm here to teach you how to operate that," the man said and she smiled happily while staring at him.
