Chapter 29
Mateo woke up due to the sound of his alarm which he set yesterday's night. He planned on visiting his friend early in the morning so he set the alarm. He suddenly hate the idea of setting the alarm because it woke him up from his precious dream, he dreamt of kissing Althea and they were almost having sex when the alarm woke him up. He was so angry and he smashed his alarm on the floor, his face hardened as he stared at the alarm which was scattered on the floor. He glared at the alarm like he wanted to murder it.
He stood up from the bed as he removed the duvet from his body, stretched his body and packed the pieces of the alarm. He threw them into the trash bin before walking toward the bathroom to have his bath. He wore a gloomy face that anyone who stared at him will know he is gloomy. He had this look on his face that could kill the alarm incident although the alarm is spoiled. He couldn't get it over his head, he hated it because it woke him up from his sleep at the wrong time. He would have murdered the alarm if it was a human but sadly it isn't, the alarm didn't feel the pain, and that I where the problem comes from.
He would have been happy if the alarm had felt the pain, the feeling that shot through his body was unexplainable. He felt angry that he couldn't enjoy having fun with her like he did in his dream but it all came crashing down, and it's all thanks to the alarm. He walked out of the bathroom with water dripping down his hair, he walked up to the mirror in his room staring at his manly structure trying to find faults in his appearance but he found none.
He wondered why Althea couldn't fall for him, he sighed sadly as he walked to his closet. He changed his clothes into a new set of clothes, he walked out of his toward the dining. He ate his food silently while reminiscing over the purpose of his visiting his friend. Althea wasn't in the dining room so he quickly finished the food he was eating. He wanted to inform his best friend Frank about the feelings he has for his brother's wife and hopefully Frank will support him.
He walked out of the house and entered a red Lamborghini car which was parked in the car's garage. He drove out of the garage with a frown on his face, he headed to the restaurant which was downtown.
He arrived there shortly due to the way he drove, he alighted from his car. The people in the restaurant were staring at him because of the way he was hot, and girls were drooling over him but he never turned to look at them because he wanted Althea to be the one. He wonders what Althea sees in his dumb brother that she is faithful to him.
He shrugged off his thoughts as he used his eye to search for the table of Frank, and he saw him waving at him. He sat on the chair after they both exchanged pleasantries.
"How is everything? How is Althea?" Frank said immediately he set his butt on the chair.
"Everything is fine, and Althea is doing well," He said not interested.
"What brings you here?" He questioned as he stared at Mateo.
"I'm here to tell you that I have started developing feelings for…" Mateo was saying but was cut short by Frank.
"Wow, that's nice. Who is the girl that captures your heart so easily? I can't believe the same Mateo fell in love" Frank said sarcastically and he rolled his eyes.
"I was just about saying the girl's name but you cut me short," Mateo said with a furrowed brow, and Frank smiled widely at him.
"The lady that captured my heart is no other one than Althea," Mateo said and Frank stared at him in disbelief.
"Is it another Althea or your brother's wife?" Frank asked, and he groaned angrily as he folded his fist while glaring at Frank. He knew he was having feelings for her, and he intentionally told him that.
"It's the same Althea we knew," He said, and his friend stared at him in shock. He couldn't believe he is having feelings for Althea.
"Mateo please for your own sake stay away from her and kill those feelings you have for her. It might even be lust or obsession, so you aren't sure of that. To crown it all Xavier won't take it lightly with you if he heard that you have feelings for her" Frank said and Mateo stared at him surprisedly with a frown on his face.
"I can't believe you will also side with Xavier, you were considered my best friend among all my friends, I should have known you would side with him before coming here," Mateo said as he looked at Frank with a disdainful look plastered on his face. Frank rolled his eyes as he looked at him with a face that said ‘you are digging down your grave’.
"I have warned you to stay clear of your brother's wife, there are many girls out there looking your way but you were too blind by the obsession that's why you can't see them," Frank said and he folded his fist angrily staring at him.
"Let's change the topic and find another," Mateo said as he didn't want to lose his friendship with her but if anything happens that causes him to choose between his friends and Althea, he will gladly choose her.
Mateo walked out of the restaurant and he sighed heavily when he noticed that the sun had started paving way for the moon. They both had a nice time having fun but he didn't bring up the idea of him and Althea.
Mateo arrived home late in the night with his stomach heavily filled with food, he had scheduled their meeting to be in the restaurant to have their stomach filled.
He walked into the dining room to see Althea but she was not there, he hadn't set his eyes on her since morning. He walked toward her room which she shares with Xavier hurriedly, and he knocked on the door.
Althea was seated on the bed staring at the screen of her laptop absentmindedly when she heard a knock on the door, she placed the laptop on her nightstand before leaving to get the door. She was speechless when she saw Mateo because she hadn't set her eyes on him since morning. There was an awkward silence in the room, and he decided to break it.
"Good evening, Althea" he greeted with a smile.
"Good evening," she replied with a confused look on her face.
"May I come in?" Mateo asked charmingly but Althea didn't fall for that.
She didn't know whether to let him know but on second thought he let him in because he hadn't tried what he did at the canyon. She thought he had forgotten and heed his advice, he sat at the edge of her bed, and she sat further away from him.
"Where have you been all day? I looked at you in the house and the maids told me you went out of the house early in the morning" Althea said, and he sighed heavily as he rubbed his hands nervously.
"You were asleep when I left, I went to visit my best friend Frank. You haven't met him since he wasn't among those that came" Mateo said, and she rolled her pretty eyes at him. He found the act cute.
"Ohh, the house was so lonely without you, and I felt bored" Althea muttered, and he felt his heart skip a bit. He thought she had started developing feelings for him and he felt happy about it. He will try his luck if he wants to leave the room to retire to him.
"Oh, sorry about that. The house won't be lonely like today anymore since I will stay by your side, and you won't be bored " he said and Althea laughed at his joke but she didn't know he meant what he said.
A yawn escaped Althea's mouth as they were discussing, and Mateo saw she was feeling sleepy.
"I will leave the room now," Mateo said as he stood up to leave he walked toward her and tried kissing her forehead but she moved slightly away from him.
"Good night," she said as she forced the word out of her mouth.
He walked out of the room feeling hurt for the way she acted, he thought she was starting to like him but he was wrong. He used his hand to hold his chest trying to subside the feeling he was having in his heart. His heart clenched together as he watched how she reacted when he wanted to kiss his forehead. He had thought she was warming up to him but he was wrong, he wanted to test his luck but it only made him sad.
