Between the Alphas?

Seth let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding. Her eyes kept scanning the crowd in panic, Amy and Gabe disappeared right when she needed her friends the most. Seth decided that staying in the same spot might bring her trouble; Dominic might try to approach her again since he already proved that he had no shame.

“Always me, it always has to be me that gets in trouble and needs stupid knight in shining armor to save me. So much for being an independent, strong woman.” She hissed under her breath.

Perhaps, walking around the club and trying to blend into the crowd would be a better option. For as long as she would stay away from the dance floor, she would be fine. There was no way in hell she would actually dance for that asshole.

Seth scanned the crowd once again and unfortunately, her eyes landed on the cocky Alpha. Dominic smiled and winked at her. A wave of cold shivers ran down her spine; for some reason, he gave her the creeps.

*“Yeah, better avoid that part of this filthy place,”* she thought to herself.

She knew that running into him couldn’t be a coincidence, so she had to keep an eye on him, simply to avoid the Alpha. Seth wished her best friend could be here, Anton would pretend to be her boyfriend in a heartbeat, yet she had no one besides him.

Technically, she had Luciano here, but he was another Alpha who thought of himself more than anyone else. Even if Seth were in danger, the fucker would find a way to make her submit.

*“I haven’t seen pockets on his clothing lately; makes me wonder where the hell he carries all that audacity.”* She muttered to herself. Right as she did, Seth ran into someone.

Not the best moment to get lost in thoughts, especially if she tried to avoid someone in particular. Of course, as always, luck was on her side, and looking up, she noticed no one other than Dominic.

“We meet again, pretty lady,” he grinned, leaning closer to her. “I don’t appreciate playing games, especially if one is supposed to be the cat and the other a mouse. I’m a wolf, darling, and I don’t need to chase anyone. You would know that if you met someone as highly ranked as I am. Now, while your attempts to be hard to get seem fun, I couldn’t miss the desperate way you kept looking for me. So, here I am, at your service.” The smug look on his face disgusted Seth.

Dominic seemed like an interesting man, despite all odds. He somewhat reminded Seth of Luciano, but perhaps that was because of his height and Alpha title. Both men had similar eye color, but Luciano’s eyes were more golden and turned into pitch-black within seconds, meaning that he was way more dominant than Dominic.

Aside from the little similarities, she didn’t feel any form of affection or pull towards the cocky Alpha. Perhaps Seth found only one, particular Alpha, handsome and exciting enough to mess around.

Alright, she didn’t intend to do that in the first place, she had to avoid powerful men, yet it didn’t mean that she didn’t want Luciano to be around now.

“Listen, I appreciate the given interest and all that, but I do have a boyfriend, and I don’t think that he will like seeing me with another man.” Seth rolled her eyes, trying to talk her way out of the situation.

She wondered if mentioning Luciano would be a good idea, but if she were lucky enough, the Alpha wouldn’t question the truth behind her words.

“Is that so? You got me hooked here, who is he?” Of course, the asshole had to go against all hopes Seth had and bring up the nonexistent boyfriend.

“If you must know, he’s one of the Alphas. Obviously, I wouldn’t date lower ranks, right?” Seth lied through her teeth, doing her best to brush the stupid question off.

For some reason, she felt like Dominic wasn’t who he was pretending to be. Seth couldn’t get rid of the feeling that he was trying to be someone he wasn’t. Most of the Alphas didn’t act as he did. Perhaps he was an Alpha, but came from a weaker district?

“Come on, sweet cheeks, give me a name. It’s not that hard, is it?” Hr stepped closer, trying to intimidate Seth.

She took a step back, attempting to keep a distance between their bodies. Seth grew more anxious as her back collided with a rock-hard chest. She instantly turned around, looked up, and grinned.

Relief washed over her facial features as Luciano eyed her with a spark of raw hunger dancing in his eyes. She thought of hugging the Alpha, yet she wasn’t sure if she could, if the Alpha would allow any kind of public affection.

But before she could decide, Luciano wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her in, leaning to her neck. He inhaled her scent and let out a deep, feral growl. “You look fucking ravishing tonight. I could eat you, right here, right now, baby. However, I can’t help but wonder who gave you the right to wear this outside my bedroom?”

Luciano wasn’t a man who would hold back his thoughts, even if surrounded by so many people. The Alpha couldn’t care less even if everyone surrounding them would have to watch live action porn as he bent Seth over the nearest table and feasted upon her.

He slid a hand on her ass, cupping and squeezing it tightly. Some wolves used to do such things to show off their claim on a woman, but this clearly was more than that. It wasn't just a claim, his grip was so tight on her, Seth feared he showed off ownership of a sort.

“Who is this fuckhead I see you talking to, kitten? You’ve been such a bad girl, going out to show off what belongs to me and now, wasting time with nobodies. Wait till we get back home, you’re fucked. Literally.” Luciano eyed the male, showing off the hatred towards the Alpha.

“Oh, sorry. This… This is, I assume, a new friend, Dominic. Alpha Dominic, meet my boyfriend, Alpha Luciano.” Seth looked at the annoying Alpha, grinning like a kid at a candy store. She loved the look of complete shock on his face, especially after Seth mentioned her fake boyfriend’s title and name.

Luciano laughed, pulling Seth even closer if it was possible. “That’s not Dominic, kitten. Carter, right? It’s funny how an Alpha would have to use a fake name to get women in their bed. Not even funny, man, it’s pathetic. It would be best if you were grateful that Dominic didn’t arrive tonight. I’m not the one to fight battles that aren’t mine, but if you dare to use his name ever again… Or approach my girl... Well, you should, I dare you.” Luciano smiled, it wasn’t a friendly or naughty smile that Seth started to admire.

The way Luciano’s lips lifted meant only one thing, he was up to no good. His smile was sinister, full of malice and intentions Seth didn’t want to know anything about. Challenging an Alpha was a bad idea, especially if it came to claiming a woman or territory.

“My apologies,” whoever the wearer Alpha was, he disappeared faster than a rogue during an ambush. Seth could finally breathe, the evening wouldn’t be as bad as she thought in the first place.

Now, she was left with one problem. Luciano. Even though she felt genuinely grateful for his help, too many people saw him touching her in such an intimate way; therefore, many would think he claimed her.

Seth didn’t want to get a claim over her by an Alpha. Messing around with Luciano was fun, but all good things had to come to an end.

“Now, when the useless piece of shit is gone, I must ask, why the fuck you thought wearing that is okay? Not that I’d complain, but fuck, this is an outfit fit for my bedroom, not a nightclub.” Luciano leaned down to her ear, this time speaking in a whisper.

Earlier, his words had to be said aloud, making everyone around them think that both were dating. Now, he spoke quietly, yet he mentioned the same thing.

“Luciano, let go, people are watching us! They will start thinking that we’re actually dating!” Seth hissed, trying to seem unbothered, yet putting enough anger in her words for Luciano to catch on.

“Who the fuck cares what are they going to think now? Not me. I’m waiting for the fucking answer, keep defying me and I’ll spank you in front of public. I can always throw you over the shoulder and take you home, you do seem to enjoy that.” His hot breath tickled her skin as Luciano traced his lips down to the crook of her neck.

Instead of giving him any answer, Seth tried to push him away from her. A rather bad idea, if she would ask anyone. The Alpha growled, smacked her ass, and bent down to wrap an arm around her knees.

He threw Seth over his shoulder with ease, grinning at everyone like a maniac. Little did she know that Luciano wanted her to keep on fighting, her refusal made him want her even more.

Something made him think that Seth wouldn’t give in easily, even if they moved in together and spent a decade side by side. Her rebellious personality excited him, the beast in him couldn’t stop thinking about forcing her into submission and claiming the woman each night and day if possible.

If Luciano were the one to choose, he would take Seth, mark her and lock her inside his house. He was a selfish man, believing that no one besides him was worthy to see or admire her beauty.

Luciano turned his attention towards the shocked crowd. “If I see anyone staring at this ass, you’re fucking dead. Get the fuck back to your damn business!” Luciano growled, warning everyone around him.

Bartenders started actively offering everyone drinks, and the people around the club turned their backs to the pissed Alpha. Even if someone wanted to help Seth to get rid of him, it was impossible.

While wolves knew what to expect, the woman over his shoulder was clueless about the things Luciano was capable of. No matter how important the woman might be, if the older Vincent had as much as jokingly mentioned any claim, no one had the right to stand in between them.

Seth could beg the crowd to help, but even the bravest would avert their gazes. Going against Luciano, especially during the games, was a suicide.

Most Alphas had a chance to win if Luciano wouldn’t decide to challenge them. If any would stand in his way, the dreams about the title would be as good as dead. As dead as the Alphas would be after Luciano would calm down and end his rampage.

The Vincent’s were the family you wouldn’t want to fuck around with.

Both him and his wolf knew that they were acting way too possessive for Seth to be addressed as their toy. In a short time, she became something more, something he didn’t want to lose.

If anyone tried to look at her, it pissed him off, even in the grand hall while she was dressed as a man. Luciano noticed the familiar curves as soon as she stepped inside that hall. When he winked at the server, biting onto his lower lip, the well-known blush crept on her cheeks.

That was precisely when Luciano caught on her cover. In his eyes, Seth was the sexiest woman he had met, even if she tried to pretend to be a man. That would be a reason why he arrived late tonight, he had to pay a visit to his fellow Alpha.

It took some time, but next time, Maximilian will think twice before looking at Luciano’s claim.

Of course, not that he had any idea about Luciano’s intentions and the mentioned claim, but it also wasn’t like Luciano cared about the lack of knowledge. For as long as he had someone he could use as a punching bag, life was good.

Luciano carried Seth out of the club, and his car was brought out of the parking spot by a valet the next moment.

He opened the passenger door and carefully slid Seth in the seat. Luciano didn’t seem like a man who would go out of his way for someone, but he did lean over Seth to grab the seat belt.

Everyone outside the cub stared at them. They all were curious about the woman that caught the eye of Alpha Vincent. He was well aware that everyone watched them and he intended to make sure that they would have something worth seeing.

Luciano buckled her seatbelt, grinned, and whispered, “safety first.” As soon as the words left his parted lips, he pressed them against hers, shamelessly kissing Seth in front of everyone.

He loved how her cheeks burned bright red whenever he did something he wasn’t supposed to do. He broke their kiss, pecked her lips, and added, “now, let’s go home.”

Seth was left speechless, trying to avoid the curious stares of the strangers that surrounded them. Then, she started wondering if Luciano would bring her back to her cabin or his home. Seth was grateful for his help tonight, but she didn’t plan on spending another night in his bedroom.

She still couldn’t get over the things he did the last time they met, it didn’t matter how much she liked it; the problem was him, leaving her hanging.

“Stop pouting, kitten, that look doesn’t suit you,” Luciano growled, his eyes focused on the road ahead.

“What if I fucking don’t? Thank you for getting that creep away from me, but there was no need for the show you decided to put on. I don’t want your claim, you should understand as much. And I won’t sleep with you again, forget it. Better off, pretend that it didn’t happen in the first place. I don’t do Alphas and would very much appreciate it if we could pretend that nothing ever happened.” Seth finally spoke up, voicing her frustration.

Even though she knew that she might lose a lot if she cut ties with Luciano, she had to do it. Messing around and having great sex was nice, yet she didn’t need a control freak in her home, or near it, for the matter.

“I get it, you’re angry, but there’s no need to overreact. Calm down, kitten, I got there on time, and that’s all that matters. About the show, you’re wrong, it was necessary. Nobody will dare to touch you now; you’ll be free of freaks and creeps trying to get in your pants. Plus, I wanted to voice a possible claim, so I did. Too late to take it back. Enjoy the rest of the drive; I’m taking you home. And no, not your cabin.” Luciano sounded too happy, way too full of himself for Seth to calm down and let go of her worries.

Instead of being a reasonable adult and keeping her thoughts to herself, she rolled her eyes and whispered, “fuck you.”

Her voice was loud enough for him to hear. Luciano turned the steering wheel and drove closer to the side of the road, slowly dropping down the speed.

Seth eyed him suspiciously, wondering what he was going to do. Perhaps he could stop the car and make her get out of it? Seth didn’t want to walk back to the Council territory, but she would do that as long as she didn’t need to argue with Luciano or see him more than needed during the work week.

They weren’t a couple, a thing, or even friends. Why she would waste her time and breath arguing with Luciano was beyond her, yet Seth found herself in the exact situation more times than she would like to admit.

“Lap, now,” he growled through gritted teeth, gripping the steering wheel in anger.

Seth raised an eyebrow, refusing to move even a little.

“Listen, I don’t care about your bratty attitude, but you have two options right now. One, be a good girl and straddle me. Two, I’ll fuck you over the car hood the same as I did the first time, but tonight, we could have an audience since this is not the lonely road back in the territory. If you haven’t noticed, there are many cars around here, and the traffic actually exists on this road. So? Which one is it going to be?”

Luciano had a point. Seth kept watching the cars passing them one by one. Even if the thought of repeating the experience excited her, she wouldn’t do anything like that in public.

“Why would I? I just told you that I wouldn’t sleep with you again.” She crossed her arms in front of her chest. Now, when he was so close, his scent was overwhelming her senses. It was so hard to refuse him. Seth knew that she had to be strong, or she would end up in his bed once again.

“Yes, the same as you told me ‘fuck you’ just a minute ago. I can be whatever you want me to be, but I am not an idiot. There’s no way I will say no to that offer.” Luciano faced Seth, his eyes focusing on the low cleavage of her dress.

The skimpy outfit had been annoying him since he noticed how low it actually was. The very thought that men had a chance to see so much of her body pissed him off.

Claim or no claim, Luciano wanted Seth all to himself, and he wouldn’t even consider sharing the view, let alone body.

Deep down, he was sure that although the kitten kept showing off her claws and acting as if she was disgusted by his insistence, she secretly loved every single moment of it.

She loved how he undressed her with his eyes. She loved how he explained every single thing he was planning to do to her in detail.

“That wasn’t an offer.” Seth kept refusing him. She didn’t like the way Luciano used her words against her.

She didn’t want to go to the club in the first place, and the evening turned into a disaster. She should have taken her car and driven to the city solo, at least then, she wouldn’t have to worry about getting away from Luciano.

Besides, she was getting worried about Amy and Gabe. Did her friends even notice that she was gone?

“It was for me, so you’re getting fucked, kitten. One way or another. I can always bring you home and play with your body. You seemed to enjoy the last night we spent together.”
