Chapter 16 Came to sense
I woke up in the hospital. My manager saw me regain consciousness; her face filled with relief.
"Anne, you finally woke up. It was not easy."
My mind was blank. My manager held my hand and began chatting, telling me about what happened after I left. After the signal was restored that day, my manager and the others were quickly rescued, but I mysteriously went missing. After the volunteer search team searched the desert for two days, they finally found me unconscious in the deep desert. I had been out for two days and only woke up now.
"Anne, how worried I was these past few days? It's my fault this time; I shouldn't have let you take on this job..."
My manager said beside me, and I listened attentively.
"When are we going back?" I asked directly.
I was afraid of the unknown, being swept into another vortex.
"Something unexpected happened in Egypt; they have sealed off the entry and exit routes, and foreigners are not allowed to leave the country now."
."What happened?" I asked.
"It seems there was an issue at the Egyptian National Museum, and I don't know where the thieves came from, but they stole the museum's prized mask and golden coffin. It even made international news." She answered.
Silence, a wordless silence.
"I'm going out." I declared.
"Anne, where are you going?" she asked.
I looked at the sky outside the window and muttered softly, "Temple..."
"Karnak Temple..."
