Chapter 20 Be detained
Without prior permission to leave, the agent had no choice but to use their connections to arrange a departure via sea routes. The agency, leveraging the photos I had previously taken, was gaining traction and wanted me to stay and continue shooting the Egypt series. The agent tried to persuade me, but I remained silent. Such minor benefits were not enough to make me stay.
Watching the ship sail away from the dock, I let out a sigh of relief.
"After this shoot, I don't think I ever want to come back to Egypt again," I said.
Fate must have a strange sense of humor; when we were setting off, the government blocked our advancing ship.
We were detained under the guise of illegal immigration. I was brought to a sealed room.
Footsteps approached. But it wasn't an Arab man from the present. He was from Egypt.
