Auror Part 2
"I’m not going mad. I can’t stay away, and even if I believe you’re putting hallucinogens in the water, my body yearns for more of you." Her words make my heart pound against my chest. "It’s crazy, isn’t it? To be someone who met you just a few days ago and can’t imagine losing you? I still think I’ll wake up and find out this is all a very real dream."
"You won’t, believe me."
"I don’t want to stop working, Auror, but I don’t want to feel like I have a contagious disease."
"It won’t happen again; I’ll make sure of it. Why don’t you go take a shower? Dinner is ready."
She doesn’t say anything, just smiles, and despite her redness from crying, she remains beautiful with the whitest and shiniest hair I’ve ever seen. Her hand holds my face, and I sense what she wants to do. I retract my fangs, and when I feel her lips press against mine, I experience a different kind of energy. Ann doesn’t deepen the kiss like before, but even her touch makes my body heat up more than usual.
"Thank you for taking care of me." Her voice is low and soft, making my chest swell with pride.
I just nod; my body responds too quickly to hers, and the concern I had just minutes ago turns into arousal. My cock starts to harden, and she doesn’t need that right now. I get off the bed, stifling a grunt of disappointment at not being able to control my instincts. If I could transform, it would be easier. We Férnus don’t mate in human form; our members don’t get hard, as we believe it's a form of punishment from the Moon Goddess for what happened millennia ago.

"I tried in every way not to break down all day, but by the time I got home, I couldn’t hold back what I felt, and everything turned into a crazy mix of emotions. I just didn’t expect Auror to be as caring as he was. Deep down, I think my biggest fear was him saying he was right about not wanting me to go out, that he knew it would be like this.
But contrary to what I thought, he was extremely protective. I finish drying my hair and put on my oversized shirt with a tiny thong underneath. When I get to the bedroom, it’s empty and dark. I walk around the house, smelling food, and when I reach the kitchen, the table is set, but he seems to be nowhere.
I start eating when I hear someone calling me.
"Ann! Ann! I’m coming in."
"I’m in the kitchen, Arow!" I reply, returning to my meal.
"The smell is really good," he says, sitting next to me. I look at him, trying to understand what’s going on. "Auror had to take care of some things at the city limits, and I was sent to keep you company."
"Is it something serious?"
"Just the usual, Ann, maintaining order to keep everything calm in our community."
"That doesn’t answer my question."
"Why does it always have to be like this, bossy?"
"I guess it’s the whole leader’s mate thing," I joke, trying to ease the fear that somehow grips me.
"You don’t need to try to downplay what you’re feeling; I can smell your fear from here."
"I hate you guys and your irritating sense of smell." I stick out my tongue at him.
"Very mature of you."
"Aren’t you going to eat?" I probe, since if there’s one thing Arow loves, it’s food.
"I had eaten when I got the order to come here," he says. "Ann, he’s fine. It always happens that some exiled Férnus try to hunt on our land."
"And why don’t you accept them here? Forty Mile is big; there’s work."
"Because the exiles caused problems in their clans and would cause problems anywhere else. There are four clans in Canada—the North, South, East, and West clans—all follow the same laws here as there. — So there are more of us out there?"
"All over the world, Ann, territories have become small for so many of us. So, the Moon Goddess would send new locations for new clans to be born and governed by new leaders, which has kept our people alive all these years." He smiles.
"I don’t understand. If each leader produces an offspring, how did new leaders come about?"
"The Moon Goddess controls that, Ann. There are many spread out there. With each new potential clan divided to manage overpopulation, a new family was assigned to lead, and thus new leaders were born from them," he explains, then smiles again.
"What are you smiling about, Arow?"
"You mentioned more of us, and you consider yourself one of us. Okay, when I first heard about you, I thought you’d go mad any moment. But look, you’re much more adapted to our world and already see us as equals."
"After my mother died, many things stopped mattering. I felt an emptiness. I only had Emmy, but the feeling of having nothing but myself never went away. Since I came here, that feeling has diminished, and after Auror and I..., well..., you know, all I want is to be with him. Even if I believe the water in Forty Mile is spiked, I don’t want to go back to feeling what I felt before, and no longer feel. Drugged or not, I feel like I’m part of something after many years, even if it’s with large, almost wolf-like, almost bear-like, grumpy creatures that smell like wet dogs."
"Hahahahaha! Anira Montecião, I always knew you were special, from the moment I laid my eyes on you." I feel shy with his words.
"And if I’m not what the community expects, Arow? Today was a hard day. No one looked at me; I felt excluded and invisible."
"They were surprised by the scent and were respecting the leader's mate. Until Auror speaks to them and gives the order to address you, their eyes will remain down, and words won’t be directed at you."
"I see."
"Ann, this happens with every mate. Any Férnus who finds their mate must allow another of our kind, whether male or female, to address her."
"So it’s not just because I’m almost entirely human and they’re rejecting me?"
"No." He smiles, his silver eyes seeming to shine. "This is the recognition that they respect you as part of us."
"I’d like to learn about the laws, so I can understand when certain things happen."
"Don’t worry, before winter, the elder Angelic will visit you."
"How do you know?"
"Because every newly formed couple needs to be guided by the paths the future holds. There are visions of our destiny, and as our elder, it is her role to guide the children of her womb."
"What do you mean?"
"She will explain it to you."
I nod without saying more, finish dinner, and clean up. Suddenly, an overwhelming rage seizes me, bittering my mouth and making me want to kill anyone.
The furious scream I release puts Arow on alert as he approaches, trying to calm me down.
"What is this I’m feeling, Arow?" For the first time, I feel fear.
"The bond seems to be happening."
"What?"
"Mates feel each other’s emotions with the same intensity. This rage must be coming from Auror."
"I don’t want to feel this."
"Calm down, Ann. When he returns, you’ll start to understand the bond."
I try to focus more on his words, but the bitter taste of pure hatred, something I’ve never felt before, floods my mouth and almost makes me vomit.
