Auror
A month later...
The days have passed as we learn more about having a baby at home. All the clans have sent gifts, which were inspected before entering our house. Today is the day of Roman’s presentation at the bonfire; he will be received as a member of the North clan, and the ceremony has been prepared since the day they learned of his birth.
I walk into the kitchen where my Ann is preparing breakfast for our guests.
“The smell reached me upstairs,” I say as I approach her.
“How is our little one?” she asks, always concerned.
“Asleep, just as you left him after he ate like a hungry baby.” I kiss her neck; Ann is so sensitive there, right at the curve where I usually run my warm tongue.
“Auror, don’t start. We spent the whole night mating; my body never seems to calm down.” Her moans are soft.
“It will be like this for the next few years, my destined one.”
“I’m not the one to complain about it.”
As I press my body against hers, feeling the warmth radiating from her, my ears pick up the arrival of our guests.
“They’re arriving,” I hear Ann’s heart race.
“Oh my God! Will they like it?”
“No one cooks better than you, Ann. Your breakfast is famous throughout Forty Mile.”
“That scares me.”
The cars stop in front of our house, and soon the conversation echoes through the rooms until it reaches the kitchen.
“The smell is tempting, Anira,” Kynai says as he accompanies his partner Mayllini.
“Ann, I have to agree with Ky; the smell is wonderful,” Mayllini says, and Ann smiles.
“Dr. Beilly, I thought you wouldn’t come,” Ann greets.
“Do you really think I would miss this invitation, Ann? Your breakfast is the most talked-about thing at the clinic; even if I had to kick Jacob out of bed, we would come.” Everyone smiles at her comment.
"My precious, I would carry you in my arms here if necessary." Jacob is like all the mated males, affectionate and overly protective.
Everyone laughs, and Emmy and Arow greet Ann. Finally, Marty, Lannur’s partner, can be heard.
“It’s a great pleasure to meet you, Anira. Lannur speaks very highly of his leader’s mate.” Her voice seems shy, and Ann, spontaneous as always, welcomes her with open arms.
“First, call me Ann, don’t be shy, dear. The pleasure is ours. It’s good you’re joining the dark side of the Force; we’ll always be united against the stifling of these males.” They smile together as everyone sits around the table.
“Don’t listen to her, my little gem. Everything I do for you is to be careful,” Lannur tries to argue, making all the females smile.
Marty is a young woman from Dawson City; she was rescued by Lannur while he was hunting in the surrounding areas. Everyone seems to have found their mates, and despite being one hundred percent human, Luna predicted this would happen. The ancients are adapting to the new forms of mating that the Moon Goddess has allowed, and things are gradually being adjusted.
Breakfast lasts for two hours, eventually turning into a round of conversations among the males and among the females, all of whom go to watch over Roman’s sleep.

Anira
After everyone leaves, I take my newest love and carry him to the living room. Roman is no trouble at all; he sleeps for hours, and I need to wake him up to feed him between the times the angelics taught me.
The older women haven’t approached us yet, and that will happen tonight at the bonfire. The humans won’t be participating, and the main bonfire has been canceled for reasons beyond our control. The presentation party is restricted to members of the Northern Clan.
It’s just Roman and me at home; Auror is outside with Black, evaluating some recent achievements of Forty Mile. They’ve been working on starting to explore a newly discovered gold mine that will sustain us for the next hundred years. According to Black, this was a gift from the Moon Goddess for the new babies that have arrived.
I’m exchanging messages with Emmy, who is asking me about some medication. My attention shifts between Roman and everything else, and I’m so tired that I feel my eyes getting heavy. I then give in to sleep.

I wake up feeling Auror’s hand on my face.
“Wow! I must have passed out,” I say as I sit up and see that he’s holding our child.
“Yes, my Ann, you slept for a few hours. It’s time for the presentation bonfire. Why don’t you go change so we can go?”
“I won’t be long.” I smell Roman’s white hair and head to the shower.
Minutes later, fully ready, I enter the living room and see Auror talking to Roman as if he were an adult.
“He will be a great male, my son. I will teach him everything, from hunting to the oldest laws,” Auror says as he stands up, looking at me with his large golden eyes.
“He couldn’t have a better father,” I reply, smiling.
“Come on, my Ann. Our clan is eager for the presentation bonfire.”
We get into the truck and drive down the road that cuts through the forest. Auror carries our little bundle, who disappears in his large arms. I keep my attention on the road, and ten minutes later, we start to see the bright glow of the bonfire and hear the sounds of the party approaching us.
I park near the other trucks and get out, followed by Auror. As we approach, Auror emits a loud, powerful roar, and silence falls in front of the most sovereign leader of all clans.
Auror walks beside me, carrying our baby, and positions himself in front of the bonfire next to the angelic trio. Luna steps forward to speak.
“Tonight is a night of celebration and gratitude. The Goddess has sent us the future of the Northern Clan, Roman Vont’in, a pure-blooded férnus, son of Auror Vont’in, the most powerful férnus ever born, leader of all férnus clans, and Anira Vont’in, a destined angelic, born from me, a hundred percent celestial, with modified DNA, who holds power and authority over all, just like her partner.” A murmur of acceptance begins, and I see my friends smiling at me.
All the férnus, whether males or females, are transmuted in a sign of respect and protection, all appearing stronger in their beast forms.
“The Moon Goddess today gifts us with her radiance and has blessed us with a new gold mine that will provide for us for another century. Reverence the future férnus with the arrival of Roman, the fragment of the Goddess.”
