Anira Part 2

"You're no longer human, Anira. When the ferus DNA entered your body, it brought your immortality, and when I revealed everything to you, completing a kind of information download, I finalized your angelic lineage." Her smile brings a peace I can’t fully explain.
"Is it like I was born of you?"
"Yes, you were born of me, child. Your lineage says that, and every angelic is part of the other."
"Will Kynai be okay?"
"Yes, he will sleep for many days. We placed him in a deep sleep until his body is ready to awaken."
"Is Auror right when he says they want to kill me? Could this be a warning, a way to mislead us?" I ask, and at this moment, the two oracles' expressions become grave.
"What have you seen that you cannot reveal?"
"Anira, our energy is being blocked by ancient magic. Nothing concerning you is being revealed to us. Auror knows this and chose not to hide it from you."
"Is this a warning that something might happen to me and kill me?"
"Your immortality is not in question. The main concern now is about your lineage. A ferus baby is vulnerable and not immortal like you. We need to care for you to protect your child."
"Am I pregnant?" I am startled by the information.
"Not yet, but as predicted, you will be."
"Is that why Auror hasn’t slept for days? My God!"
"Do what he asks for your protection. Stay in sight; no one will be able to get past Auror and reach you." We stand up.
Soon, Kynai disappears from the stretcher, startling me.
"He will be at the temple; the reclusive angelics will take care of him." She smiles at me, as this is new information. "Yes, child, only I, Iria, and Helen like to leave the sacred tower."
"Even though there is so much information, it feels like I don’t know anything."
"You have all eternity to learn. We reveal things to you in homeopathic doses so it doesn’t become tedious or overwhelming. Now we must go. Remember, Anira, stay in Auror’s sight."
They disappear from my view, and then my hair stops shining. I leave the room and find Emmy and Arow talking with Alenna and Michelly.
"They took Kynai to the sacred tower. He will be okay, but he’s in a deep sleep," I inform. "Can Emmy stay at the clinic until Jacob arrives with Dr. Beilly?"
"Yes," she responds. I smile at her.
"Girls, reschedule the appointments for tomorrow," I request, and they agree. "Let’s go, Arow."
As we leave, I think about everything I saw, felt, and heard. I am completely angelic, and my baby could be taken from me, and we can only have one pregnancy throughout our lives.
"Is everything alright, Ann?" Arow asks, concerned.
"I’m just a bit shaken by everything I’ve seen," I confess. "I thought we’d lose him, Arow. He was torn apart; it would have been humanly impossible to rebuild him."
"I can imagine, Ann. I don’t recall the last time a ferus was sent to the reclusive angelics."
"What do you know about them?"
"They are untouched and don’t like to be seen. Only the triad leaves the sacred tower."
"Luna said I’m one hundred percent angelic. Energy left me to help in Kynai’s healing," I tell him, shocked.
"Is that impressing you?" he asks with a smile on his face.
"Yes, I had 2% of the lineage; Auror hated me for that. Now I’m helping heal a ferus."
"Do you understand why a leader’s destined mate cannot be a ferus female?"
"Yes, the Moon Goddess always acts in the best way, Ann, which is why Auror didn’t hesitate."
"Let’s just say it wasn’t that easy."
"Hahaha! That’s true, but we can’t deny that you make him smile, which hasn’t happened in over three hundred years."
It’s impossible not to smile with Arow and his observations.
"My sentence came out."
"What?"
"Yes, I was assigned to guard the border."
"You’re not going."
"Ann, it’s not even a punishment. I’ll be your assistant all week and protect the city on weekends."
"But you’re not going, not with these attacks happening. Auror isn’t crazy enough to send you there."
"I guess I shouldn’t have told you."
"I would have found out. I saw Kynai’s condition; I don’t want any of you there."
"Ann, patrolling exists so that what happened to Kynai doesn’t happen to the older ones. We also protect the young ones. We were lucky that this winter two females became pregnant."
"I know you’re right, but I still don’t like the idea."
"But it could be someone else in your place. I don’t want you there. It’s like having a brother to me, Arow. I couldn’t stand seeing any of you hurt."
“Don’t worry, I was trained by my father and Auror himself. If I interfere, the clan might see me as a protector and I’d lose everyone’s respect. The sentence has been passed to everyone; it’s just until the next winter. Trust me, he was very benevolent.”
“Alright,” I decide not to interfere with this decision.
We get out of the car and enter the house.
“They haven’t arrived yet,” Arow informs.
“I think we can have lunch; this morning has been exhausting.”
As we’re in the kitchen, I decide to poke around.
“What’s going on between you and Emmy?” Arow nearly chokes on his water.
“There’s nothing going on.”
“Don’t lie, Arow.”
“Okay, Ann, the truth is there’s never been anything between a ferus and a complete human. The body might not react the same way. And besides, you know we don’t mate in that way, only as a transformed ferus.”
“But you didn’t tell me about what you feel.”
“I just want to be near her, always keeping my eyes on her.”
“I’ll assign you to assist her; I’ll feel more at ease while Kynai isn’t improving,” I inform. “Arow, what if she’s your mate? What if this desire to be close is the way the mate bond begins for both of you?”
“Ann, I think I’d be skinned alive by your mate; he hates humans.”
“He hates nothing.”
“Maybe not anymore, I don’t know, Ann. If Emmy is my mate, I’d be the first ferus to be involved with one. It wouldn’t be easy, but all of this is just speculation.”
“Yes, just speculation. Let’s have lunch.”
I drop the subject seeing the discomfort in Arow’s eyes. He seems lost, and I have no idea how he will handle it if our suspicions turn out to be true.
