Chapter 30

Layla

Marcella had just given me a bath. She sat beside me reading a book. Something happened last night while Dean and Aleck were with me. My throat felt dry. I tried swallowing but my throat was dry.

“W…. w…Waa”

She looked at me. ” You can speak?”

“W.waa.water”. I said hoarsely, she rushed over to the table and grabbed the water. She raised the bed and held my head up as she feed me the water. At the same time the door opened and the two brothers waked in.

“She’s barley able to speak”. Marcella said as she continued feeding me the water. They both came over to the bed. After I drank enough water, she put me to lie back down she, then pulled the covers off my feet and began massaging my feet.

“Layla, I need you to try, Can you try to move your toes for me”

“O…. ok” . I said in a whisper. I saw them both look at me. I tried but wasn’t sure if I did it or not. I couldn’t see.

“That’s good, can you try once more”. She asked calmly. I tired but still wasn’t sure. Dean and aleck looked at me.

“You’re going to be okay princess”.

“I will be starting her on physical therapy. If she can sit up, then that’s a start. I will need a wheelchair for her. Also you’ll need to call the doctor over to check her up or take her to the hospital”.

“Okay we’ll get that done. We’ll have him come over”

Marcella left and we were alone in the room. “Do you feel okay”. Aleck asked me

“Yes”.

“That’s good. You just need to focus on getting better and getting out of this bed. I’m heading out I’ll be back soon; the others will be here too”. Dean said leaning over and kissing me gently.

Dean left and Aleck just smiled at me.” We’ll handle it. We need you to hurry up and get better” he said leaning over and kissing me. I know my body reacted to it because I felt it deep in me. He just smiled.

“Let Marcella take care of you okay baby”.

“Okay”

After He left Marcella came back and sat next to me. ” We need to get you moving again. So everyday we’ll do a series of exercises to get your muscles activated okay, but first you’ll try a slight elevated position”

“Okay”.

Throughout the morning, she did a series of exercises with me. I could move my toes more and had a bit of feeling in them and I told her. It was after lunch when the door opened, and Mallory walked in along with Nella, Andrew and Chris. When they saw me they stopped , Mallory began Crying.

“Mal it’s okay”, I said quietly.

“I’ll leave you and your friends Ms”.

“You can talk”? Andrew said

“A bit”

The came over and sat next to me. “Okay don’t strain yourself. Dean and Aleck met us yesterday and told us to come over. When you’re better we can talk” Amdrew said

Nella patted my hands. “Just know we’re here for you okay”.

“Okay. I’m tired”. I said quietly

“Okay get some rest we’ll go speak to Dean and Aleck. Just focus on Getting better”. Mal Said.

Dean

We were on the patio when the came out and sat down. “You didn’t tell us she’s speaking” Nella said

“We didn’t know either. We found out this morning. We have something to show you”.

I put her laptop on the table and opened the emails. The two of them were reading it.
“Wait when did this happen”? Nella asked

“We found it the night Andrew and Chris were here. In other news something interesting happened last night. We know why Rea attacked her”. I looked at Aleck. He handed his phone to Mallory. Chris And Adrew Leaned over to get a better view.

“What the fuck”? Nella said looking at me and Aleck.

“You, She’s in love with you”? Chris said

“Yep, and I had no Idea Because she hinted that she was a lesbian”

“No, she hinted that to me too. Back when we were in college I had once asked her if spending time, with you never made her have feelings for you and she said laughed it off saying how can she have feeling when she’s not interested in men. And I believed her because it didn’t sound like a lie”. Nella said sitting back in the chair.

“Nella and I Are Dating have been for the past one year. We’re living together”. Chris said casually. We looked at him then at Nella.

“Congratulations Guys”. Mallory said

“So how do we deal with Rea and Macy. Macy has never been shy about hiding her dislike for Layla and her undying love for you but now she has help and if she knows that Layla is better then, she’ll hide and that’s more dangerous”. Chris said

“Tell the police, what are we waiting for”. Nella said

“Let’s wait I want her to see Layla first. We’ll call her over and the police at the same time. In the meantime, Aleck go fishing” I said smirking.

He knew exactly what I meant. He was going to lead Rea on. “Mr Cavanagh”? I turned and saw Marcella

“Is something wrong”?

“No. She can move her arms and legs. She wants to come outside” she said smiling

“Okay”. I couldn’t help but smile. “Mal, can you get some cushions for the chair ask Hilda”

“Okay I’ll get them”.

I went and got her, when she saw me, she smiled her usual smile, and my heart relived.

“It feels stifling being in the room so long”. She said. She could speak more clearly.

“Okay princess. I’m very happy to see you smiling”.

I took her back outside; Mallory and Nella had already fixed the chair for her. I put her to sit in the chair and used a blanket to cover her feet.

“She’s in love with Aleck. I know because she told me. She kept repeating it over and over accusing me of stealing him from her while she stabbed me”.

“What”?

“After I got to the apartment the realtor Jessy her name was, I think, was already there waiting for me. We did the walk through and just before I signed the papers, I had called you to ask if, you were sure. I had just signed the papers when Rea came. I told her to go check out the place and she left”.

“Jessy was explaining to me that the cameras were installed but not on that the next day she would bring over the necessary documents and give me access to the penthouse and cameras as she wasn’t sure whether we would close on the apartment as most people change their minds”.

“I assured her that was fine by me. After she left, I found Rea in one of the rooms looking out the windows. She asked me if Jessy was gone, and I said yes thinking nothing of it. She asked to borrow my phone so as I would normally do, I lent her and told her I needed to use the restroom. After I came back out she was in the kitchen drinking wine”.

“I had no idea where she got it from. She asked who else was coming over and I told her Mal would be over soon I was heading over to open the doors to the balcony when she said something, she said that’s good that someone would find me. I stopped and turned around and she was standing right behind me, I stepped back. I told her she was scaring me, and she said good”.

“She asked me How I could be so selfish, so disgusting that I had to have everything and everyone. Before I could register what was happening, I felt the pain in my stomach when I looked down, she was holding the knife that was plunged into my stomach”.

“Oh god”.

“She began ranting at me asking me why I had to have them that why couldn’t she have Aleck. That she loved him she always has and because of me she can’t have him. I tried pulling away from her, but she grabbed my shoulder and pulled the knife out and stabbing me again. While saying that if I was dead maybe she would have a chance with Aleck and Macy would have Dean”.

“Her ranting distracted her, so I pulled away and tried to run. I didn’t get far ,she hit me at the back of my head, I started seeing blurry and I fell over. She had a baseball bat. I fell on my stomach, and she continued hitting me she then Flipped me over and began kicking me. I tired to stop her but when I raised my hand and saw all the blood, I began panicking”.

“She took the bat and hit my hands that’s when I began screaming and she began laughing. She said I’ll be dead soon and she’ll be the only one to survive. I couldn’t see out of my left eyes, but I Saw her use the bat and started hitting herself. She came over to me and what she did was insane she began taking my blood and rubbing it on herself. She sat up and grabbed the knife. She already had it at my throat, and I knew she was going to kill me”.
