What in the freaking hedgehog!
Tweety fluttered gracefully ahead of Crystal as she followed her, very interested in knowing what kind of creature it was. She saw how rapidly its wings were beating against the air, making them completely transparent despite being translucent sky blue.
“Ahm-- you must be curious about what I am?” asked the puffball in its shrill voice, breaking the silence between the two, looking at Crystal staring with her ogling eyes as if she could not wait to grab Tweety in her hands and play like an actual puff ball.
"Ah, sorry, I did not mean to come off as rude. It’s just that I am new here and I have never seen anything like I have been witnessing after arriving at Plutus," Crystal scratched her head, feeling a little sheepish, and Tweety made the melodious sound of satisfaction once again.
“Do not fret. I know a thing or two about the earth myself, so I am aware none of my kind is seen there. You can ask any question you want.” Tweety replied, sounding as sweet as the candies Crystal had enjoyed as a child.
Crystal looked at Tweety as if it was a ray of sunshine because if a feegestas was an understanding and smart creature, that puffball species must be the sweetest fellows.
Grateful for the offer, Crystal eagerly asked, "Then tell me something about you. Anything would do since I don’t know a thing."
“My name is Tweety, as you already know through the headmistress. My kind are known as pilasymphons. Some believe that we are smart enough to do small work like I am doing right now to assist you to your designated dorm room, but some think that we are nothing but balls of music because of the melodious tunes we cast when we feel joyous.”
Tweety explained with a hint of offense in her voice.
Crystal couldn't help but chuckle at the cute little creature's indignation. “You indeed are helpful. Not only are you guiding me to the dorm, but you are also enhancing my knowledge,” Crystal said, and Tweety cooed in joy, as the melodious sound filled the air as they continued their journey.
As they walked, Tweety shared some intriguing facts about the other species on Plutus.
The vampires, although compulsory, had to take classes that were arranged for all the species, but the main classes only for vampires were arranged mainly at night as their abilities and strength increased two-fold.
Werewolves, on the other hand, were restricted from moving outside of their dorms at nighttime because some of them with powers yet immature could go berserk and run amok after the vampires with the everlasting moonshine of the moon on Plutus.
Mermaid students had either lakes or individual cylinders filled with water inside the classes so they could feel at home, despite the fact that they were able to transform their tails into legs.
Goblins had underground tunnels as their dorm rooms, exactly as they preferred, and so were their main classes arranged in the underground classrooms.
Demons were the most troublesome creatures among all six of the species. Professors who were not demons themselves had always had trouble conducting and controlling the classes.
Crystal gaped in awe as she stood before the majestic building, its brilliance beyond words. Even though she had seen the academy's magnificence from the front, the sight of their dormitory left her breathless. It was a castle fit for a princess, with walls made of enormous stones that seemed to transport her to a bygone era.
There was the fae symbol on the rooftop, which Crystal recognized from the Book of Origin that the headmistress had shown her, which only added to the building's enchanting beauty.
"Are you certain this is a dormitory and not a royal castle?" Crystal asked, her voice tinged with wonder. Tweety cooed her melodious voice once again. She seemed to be delighted by Crystal's reaction to every little detail she would tell or show her. Crystal had realized from Tweety's constant burst of joy that a pilasymphon, like Tweety, must be a creature that craved love and attention.
"You have yet to see the mermaid dormitory; it is the most beautiful sight in the whole of the academy," Tweety replied, her excitement palpable. Crystal felt her own excitement growing, but she knew that exploring the entire academy would take time since, according to Tweety, students are very busy all year, barely having free time for food and sleep.
Tweety showed Crystal her way to her exact room, and Crystal saw her name written outside the door along with another nameplate. “Marina Abelone, your roommate,” Tweety politely mentioned the obvious, seeing the confused look on Crystal’s face.
“Wouldn't my roommate be weirded out by someone like me?” Crystal asked, feeling insecure already, even when it was not the start of her real journey. However, Tweety was indeed the creature of love, a pilasymphon; she reassured Crystal with her gentle words.
"No one here is perfect, Crystal. This academy exists to teach students what they don't know and help them master what they do. You are a student, just like everyone else. You will learn new things, and so will others. You don't need to feel insecure, not even in the slightest. There have been cases when clueless students have appeared at the academy, unaware of their true selves, and in the end, they have almost always proven themselves to be worthy, even excelling over others. You, too, could be one of them."
Crystal looked at Tweety gratefully, her heart swelling with hope. "I suppose that's possible," she said, smiling.
...
Crystal felt as if water was being sprinkled over her face as she rubbed it with both of her hands, but there was no wetness. When the dripping feeling did not stop, Crystal frustratingly huffed and opened her eyes, glaring at the causative agent for ruining her dear sleep, not to mention she had slept late last night due to her special visit to the headmistress.
“What in the freaking hedgehog--” she started to shout, sitting up but stopped abruptly when her head harshly bumped into another head, eliciting a shared groan with the other person in the room.
“Blasted fish of a mother!” she exclaimed as she put her left hand over her forehead and turned her head to the person standing beside her bed, doing the same thing as she glared at her.
“What? Freaking hedgehog? Blasted fish? I am sorry, but I cannot understand what you are saying. I am not from Earthly Realm,” her roommate responded in a voice as soft as a whisper. The unexpected gentleness of her words melted away Crystal's irritation, and she let out a sigh, surprised at how close she had come to lashing out. After all, she was not one to lash out or to be unkind and mean.
