Two mates: Soulmate and Twin Flame
On the first day of classes, Crystal had been eagerly looking forward to learning new things. However, despite her enthusiasm, she struggled to keep up with the coursework. Her morning classes in Magic Laws and Ethics, Faerie Gardening, and Levitation had been more of an introduction, but she couldn't even lift a single dust particle in the air, and she had no knowledge whatsoever about faerie plants and herbology.
Despite her discouragement, she was grateful to have Marina by her side in all three classes. Marina was a kind and patient roommate who was always willing to help her out whenever she needed it.
As they walked back to the dormitory, Marina popped a question.
“Crystal, if there happens to be a faerie get-together at the dormitory, would you be willing to join?” Marina asked, looking at Crystal with anticipation, as if she wanted her to say yes.
Crystal hesitated for a moment. She wasn't sure if she was ready to socialize with other fae students, especially since she felt like an outsider in her classes. She didn't want to be a burden on Marina or make her feel like she had to babysit her. However, she didn't want to disappoint her roommate either.
“Wouldn't the faeries feel awkward around me? And I'm not even invited,” Crystal asked, unsure, as she didn't want to bluntly refuse Marina.
“No, no. All fae students from all four years would be there, and I am sure no one will feel that way around you, as you had already seen in the morning. But, unless you feel uncomfortable, I will understand,” Marina pouted as she looked disappointed, and Crystal sighed.
She was contemplating for two reasons; first, she hated feeling like an oddball, and second, she needed to hide herself. There was a possibility of her blabbering out about her abilities or anything else that was supposed to be hidden. But looking at the pitiful expression on Marina’s face, Crystal nodded her head, deciding to take one chance since she would have to face the faeries at one time or another.
Marina excitedly grabbed Crystal’s hand and made her rush towards the dormitory. After Chroma, Crystal was the second-ever friend she had made, so she did not want her to miss out on any of the experience.
…
After dinner, all of the female faerie students gathered in the dormitory lounge, which was a lot larger than one would perceive from the outside. The lounge was adorned with flowers, vines, and sparkling lights, creating a magical ambiance that enchanted Crystal.
All of the faeries were wearing what seemed like nightgowns in their own colors, but for Crystal, they looked a lot more uncomfortable than the pajamas that she had packed in her luggage.
"Here you are, my dearest Marina and Crystal," said Chroma as she greeted both Crystal and Marina in fae style. Crystal had noticed that whenever there were only faeries, they would use this greeting and not with any other species - intermingling their fingers and reaching their hands to their foreheads twice.
Marina and Crystal did the same greeting, and then Chroma grabbed their hands and took them to a group of faeries who were closest to her.
Greeting the other faeries, Marina and Crystal took their seats on the huge red carpet in the circle, and the bombardment of questions that Crystal was anticipating came up to her already.
"Have you had the opportunity to encounter any other faeries on this earth?"
"What is the human world like?"
"Do humans acknowledge the existence of faeries?"
"Do the drapes you're wearing cause you any discomfort?"
Marina was more nervous than Crystal since she was the one who insisted Crystal go there, but Crystal took a deep breath, ready to answer all those questions.
"No, there are no faeries on earth. The human world is just normal, there is no magic there. Some humans do still believe in faeries, but mostly consider it a fairytale and nothing else. And no, my clothes are not at all uncomfortable. Maybe you should try them sometime. They are the most comfortable outfit you could find."
The faeries looked at each other, unsure, but Chroma was known for her mischief, and she twisted her wrist and flicked her fingers, casting her magic, and all the faeries that were sitting in their circle were now wearing the same pajamas as Crystal.
"Indeed, they are quite comfortable." one of the faeries mentioned as she felt the fabric, rubbing her arms.
"Yes, it feels remarkably soft, similar to a ball of cotton."
"Or like a pilasymphone." The faeries giggled at the mention of the pilasymphons, and Crystal smiled, remembering Tweety from last night.
"Crystal, may I ask if you are aware of the gossip circulating about you?" one of the faeries asked, and Crystal chuckled. "Yeah, I’m always the talk of the town wherever I go," Crystal cracked a joke, and no one but Chroma chuckled.
"Although Crystal has a distinctive way of speaking, I believe that we are all able to comprehend her," Chroma said diplomatically.
The series of questions kept going on, and truth be told, Crystal did not find any of them offensive. The topic had already changed by now. "How many of you have found your soulmates or twin flames or maybe both?" a faerie with dark blue hair asked with a mischievous smile on her lips.
Crystal looked at Marina in confusion. "I think I know what a soulmate could mean, but what is a twin flame?" Crystal asked and saw a glint in Marina's eyes. Something told Crystal that it was Marina's favorite topic of discussion.
“A soulmate is someone with whom you share a deep and meaningful connection based on shared values, interests, experiences, or a sense of familiarity and understanding. It's hard to explain, but the connection doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. A twin flame, on the other hand, is someone with whom you share an intense spiritual connection that goes beyond romantic love. Your souls are divided at birth and reunited later in life. The relationship can be passionate and intense, but it may also be challenging and tumultuous as the two individuals work through their differences and grow spiritually."
