The Soul of Water
Crystal's cheeks flushed with a rosy hue as she returned Ambrose's smile and shook her head gently. "Your Highness, trust me, just as you all did when we faced the Marevates. I sense no danger within the cave. Instead, there is a magnificent and sweet aura that assures me it is completely safe to venture inside. I promise that if even the slightest hint of danger arises, I will swiftly retreat from the cave."
Her genuine reassurance and radiant smile proved to be a persuasive force. Ambrose sighed, surrendering his hold on her hand and nodding in agreement. "I trust you, Crystal. I hope you will honor that trust and the promise you have just made."
Meanwhile, Aurelius found himself caught in a mix of emotions. On one hand, he felt a sense of relief that Ambrose had finally released Crystal's hand. On the other hand, he couldn't help but worry about Crystal venturing into the cave alone.
Crystal discreetly crossed her fingers behind her back, her conviction unwavering. She nodded firmly, determined to face any potential danger within the cave. She had come this far, and turning back now was not an option in her mind. She would face whatever awaited her with courage and resilience, knowing that her friends stood firmly by her side.
Crystal swam ahead, her heart filled with a mix of determination and curiosity. As she went to the other side of the barrier, she turned around to face her friends, a furrow forming on her brow. Aurelius and Ambrose mirrored her expression, their confusion evident.
The invisible barrier acted as a barrier not only physically, but also severed the energetic connection between Crystal and her two mates. She too could no longer sense their auras, their presence, or their emotions. It was as if there was no one in front of her for miles and miles.
The realization struck Crystal deeply. She was attuned to the energies around her, effortlessly detecting the auras. The absence of that connection left her feeling unsettled, questioning the nature of the barrier. Even the peal that the elder Marevate had given her had vanished somewhere.
Could it be a gateway to another dimension, a place where the rules of her world no longer applied? Then would it not cause trouble for her if her Aether powers failed?
With a reassuring smile, Crystal glanced back at her friends and Flare, who were still stuck to the barrier as if held captive by it. She knew they couldn't help but worry for her, but she hoped her smile would convey her determination and the belief that they would be reunited soon.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Crystal propelled herself forward, diving into the enchanting seashell cave finally.
As she swam deeper into the cave, following the captivating melody that resonated within its walls, Crystal's eyes widened in awe. The cave's interior surpassed her initial expectations.
It wasn't the small enclosure it appeared to be from outside, but a vast and expansive space. Countless corridors sprawled before her, each one adorned with intricate seashells and sparkling crystals that shimmered like prisms beneath the gentle currents of water.
The play of light created a mesmerizing rainbow glow, casting ethereal hues in every corner of the cave.
Crystal's heart swelled with a mixture of excitement and wonder. It was as if she had entered a hidden realm, a realm untouched by ordinary eyes. She couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for the sheer beauty surrounding her, grateful for the opportunity to explore this hidden treasure.
Crystal's exploration of the cave eventually led her to a halt as she stood before a colossal seashell, this time a real one rather than a mere representation in the form of the cave. Its sheer size and intricate patterns captivated her, and she couldn't help but marvel at the intricacies of nature's design, on its pearly white surface.
As she gazed at the magnificent seashell, the sweet melody that had accompanied her till now abruptly ceased, leaving behind a stillness that echoed in the depths. It was as if the melody's purpose had been fulfilled, guiding her to this pivotal moment.
Not knowing what to say or do in the absence of Flare's guidance, Crystal found herself instinctively following the script of a typical horror movie, the moments just before a supporting character's demise. She mustered up the courage and called out into the empty space, "Hello, anybody there?"
The sound of her own voice reverberated through the chamber, but there was no response. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, accompanied by the realization that she had been holding her breath unconsciously. Perhaps her fascination with horror movies back on Earth had influenced her reaction in this unfamiliar situation.
Crystal decided to try another approach. Remembering Flare's words about her powers as an Aether faerie to have the ability to control various species, she spoke with a firm tone, "I Aether faerie command you to appear before me!" She waited for a response, but there was only silence.
No entity appeared before her, leaving her feeling perplexed and uncertain of what to expect next.
"Is this some kind of joke?" Crystal muttered to herself, a mixture of frustration and confusion settling in. However, before she could ponder further, the giant seashell suddenly swung open with a resounding creak, revealing an imposing figure concealed behind an ornate mask.
The entity that emerged was ethereal, with a slender and graceful form draped in a flowing gown that cascaded down to the floor of the shell.
Crystal's jaw dropped open in awe as she took in the sheer magnificence of the being before her. Despite the mask obscuring its face, the aura of beauty and power emanating from the figure was undeniable. The transparency of its form added an ethereal quality, as if it were a being made of water.
Crystal remained silent, fascinated by the entity's presence. It spoke up, addressing her as "Aether faerie Madonia, I, the Water Nymph welcome you to my humble abode".
However, Crystal couldn't sense anything from the entity, which unsettled her. Unable to detect emotions or discern its intentions, she reminded herself to stay prepared in case there were more sirens inside the cave.
The sirens had knowledge of her deepest memories, and the entity's use of the name "Madonia" heightened her concerns.
Sensing Crystal's inner turmoil, the Water Nymph offered a reassuring smile and stepped forward, emerging from the sea shell. "Fear not, for I pose no threat to you. I have been awaiting your arrival for a considerable time, dear Madonia."
Crystal, still did not know what she should be feeling about all of this so she directly posed her question, seeking clarity in her purpose, "Do you know why I have come to this cave?"
The Water Nymph's smile deepened, radiating a sense of wisdom and knowing. With a nod, she replied, "Indeed, I am aware of your purpose. As the soul of the water, I have been attuned to your arrival since you entered my ocean."
Crystal's senses tingled with excitement, but she remained composed. "Then you must be the one who will steer me to my next destination. What must I do next, as I was told that you would be my guide?"
The Water Nymph acknowledged, "Indeed, the key to your next journey lies within me. However, there are a few more things you need to know before I can reveal your next quest." Crystal's eyebrows raised, her curiosity piqued. She couldn't help but wonder if the upcoming information would bring good or bad news to her.
