12 : The truth comes out

**Evelyn :**

After our argument, we both came to the conclusion that I would go to the library alone, but if something bad happens, he would not hesitate to join me. Pff, as if.

As I entered, I walked down the hall, admiring the big silence in the large building, as he usually had many children and students who came to read books. Going straight to his office, I knocked quietly and not even a moment passed when I heard a quiet and sad reply - come inside.

At that, I frowned and slowly opened the door to look inside.
"Grandpa?"

Two worried and tired eyes lifted their gaze from the surface of the table, where he had been looking all the time, and saw my grandfather widen his eyes in shock, seeing me in the doorway. He seemed to look many years older, seeing blue circles under his eyes and very pronounced wrinkles of concern.

"E-Evelyn? Is that you, darling?" his voice stopped completely when I noticed that his eyes were getting more and more glassy. My heart twisted in pain, and I also let my tears flow when I quickly nodded and rushed to his side, where he had already returned from the shock as he opened his arms already and I fell into his familiarly warm embrace.

"I missed you, Grandpa," I cried. For that, his hands held tighter around me.

"Oh dear, you don't even know how much I was worried about you and scared that you wouldn't come back, I thought you were dead because for several days no news from you, your apartment was completely empty and the police couldn't find you anywhere," his voice also expressed great despair and pain that I could only reassure myself and him that I was finally here with him but I knew not for long.

It hurt the most because I realized I had to go back to Raphael and if I won't hurry, he would come inside and I didn't want Grandpa to see him. I had to lie no matter how bad it was.

"I'm all right, as you can see. It's all right, I'm sorry to make you anxious. I just wanted to be alone for a while because you know how emotional I am about what I can do," I explained, half the truth but at the same time lying, my grandfather at the moment began to pat my head, understanding the situation.

"Oh, darling, no...You don't have to think about it, please don't make yourself feel more guilty about it. Promise me, okay?'' Leaning back and seeing my tearful face, he smiled weakly.
"Will you promise me?"

I nodded through the blurriness, I just didn't know what to say if he knew I wouldn't stay in my apartment anymore. I will have to lie again.

After biting my lip, I wiped my tears with the sleeve of my jacket, trying to leave the gloves on my hands because I was afraid I could do something to my grandfather and he was the only one left of my family. I never want that for him.

"I promise, Grandpa. I'll let you know next time but I still have news..."

His eyes narrowed, creating a confusion on his face.
"News? What news?''

I took a deep breath, making even bigger lies.

"I met someone... A girl who accepted me for who I am and she invites me to visit her place in New Zealand. Since she is my first friend since... You already know, I don't want to do anything like that anymore. She wants to be friends with me and I know I have to be more careful with my hands but I'm willing to take the risk. I hope you understand me... " I finally made a story.

Desperate times called for desperate measures.

It took a while for my grandfather to understand the meaning of my words but waiting for the protests, he smiled unexpectedly.
"That's great, isn't it?"

Trying not to get nervous and not crying, I smiled a weak smile.
"Yes, I want to start living a normal life..."

I knew full well that it was far from normal.

**

Later when we finished eating, talking about life, I felt so good that I didn't want to go anywhere anymore but I knew there was little time left. Had to go.

After saying goodbye, I hugged him, kissed him on the cheek and allowed myself to feel the family's love from someone for the last time but I really hoped it wouldn't be the last time for good.

When I got out on the street, my smile disappeared and my anxiety began to creep in.

What if I endangered my grandfather by visiting him? What if someone can hurt him, knowing that Raphael has enemies?

However, this would not stop them from hurting my loved ones, if I can't be caught because I am in Raphael's safety, if I can believe his words at all...

My thoughts were interrupted when a low voice grumbled from behind, causing me to jump.

"Was the meeting pleasant? I hope you don't think of running away. You know I'll find you everywhere," I felt him closer and I turned around to face him.

"What is the matter with you? It's not enough to follow me all the time but also threaten about everything I do?" My face was definitely scary as I glared but I didn't care.

Raphael just bit his lip to suppress a smile but of course I noticed it and became even more angry than ever.
"What's so funny?"

He finally didn't stop himself from smiling as his eyes held a glint full of amusement.
"You're adorable, you know that? Like a little kitten who just took a bath and is growling at her owner because she hates water. "

It made me surprised but at the same time I blushed.

I wasn't even that small to compare me to a small animal! How dare he?!

Before I could say something smart back at him, suddenly his arm reached out after me and I was pulled forward, right against his muscular body because I felt a strong hand on my hip so that I was much closer to him.

A surprised sound came out of my mouth as I hadn't expected it and with a brutally fast heartbeat I watched his hand curl into my hair to tilt my head back. Two flaming eyes were already looking at me, still with a small grin on his face but there was another emotion in his gaze that I couldn't recognize. On the nape of my neck I felt goosebumps and sparks on the skin. The feeling was so good that I closed my eyes.

Feeling his gaze on me, I barely suppressed a pleasant sigh. This kind of feeling... I couldn't allow myself to feel something like that when he touched me but I couldn't resist. I seemed to be in his control every time.

"Y-you have to stop it, you can't use that to your advantage," I whispered, stuttering over my words.

"What are you talking about?" Raphael even tended to sound confused about what I was saying.

My eyes slowly opened and I felt hypnotized. Again.
"You make me feel like I want you. You have to stop it," I explained, blushing and he just smiled slowly at my response.

"But I'm not doing anything anymore, love. Unfortunately, our connection creates these feelings. I'm not at fault, I swear," smiling even wider, I had to frown, not believing the word he was saying.

"You're a psychopath, you know that? I don't know what you're using but you probably don't have anyone at home, without that brain in your head. You can't treat me like that because we're just strangers!" Shouting at his face, I went pale as a ghost when his smile disappeared and I was pulled even closer to him as much as possible.

The grip on my hair got tighter than before but not so much as to hurt me but to know who is in total control over the situation. To know who has more power.

My heart almost fell because I realized how close we were. A little bit more and our lips would touch. His breath caressed my face harshly.

"I would advise you to watch that little pretty mouth and next time think what you say to me. If I have to punish you to understand that you have to listen to me, then that's probably the only option,'' growling at my face, I could not stop the shudder which run through my body.

After trying to retreat, I realized that there was nowhere to go because somehow I collided with the wall of the house and knew that there was nowhere to hide from him.

"What do you want from me?" I gulped.

"What do I want?" He whispered dangerously in a low voice, looking at me from above. His peppermint and coffee-scented breath hit my nose and trapped in his arms now on every side of my body, Raphael let out a dark laugh.
"You want to play games with me, little one?"

I didn't let that scare me and I tried to look brave so as not to show fear anymore. I had to be strong but I didn't really know what to do in such a situation, knowing that I couldn't defend myself.

I was useless without the touch of my poison, and as I thought about my powers, I felt water dripping down my face, something wet that made me frown and I looked up without thinking.

*It's raining.*
Mentally groaning, I barely suppressed a growling sound, realizing that it had started to rain and that if we didn't move, we could catch a cold and get wet, from head to toe.

The rain which started with little raindrops, immediately turned so big that they soon started to pour on us and I knew I would look like a wet dog until I was soaked all over but it probably didn't matter to my kidnapper.

Remembering him, I saw him leaning a little back from me as he run his slender fingers into his already wet hair, which had become much darker than it was naturally. The shirt immediately turned into a damp cloth but that sight alone made my heart beat faster. In this way, his muscles were even more see - through and seeing that the shirt was completely fit to the skin of his body, I even noticed his hard eight pack abs, which could be seen through the material, realizing that he was working out every day.

*Oh wow.*

"Keep looking at me like that and maybe I'll even let you touch me," hearing his low voice, I noticed a small grin on his face, his eyes darkening, not knowing why.

When I understood the meaning of the words, unexpected anger made me fill with shame and I pushed him away with force but of course it was like moving a brick wall that was standing still.

"Has anyone told you that you are too arrogant and full of yourself?" I growl.

Raphael just smiled at my reaction, as if he thought I was the funniest creature he had ever seen. It pretty much hurt my feelings if I wasn't taken seriously.

"I can't get mad at you if you're so adorable. Like a little puppy with an angry face," eyes sparkling, I was about to punch him, not thinking about the consequences when we both heard a familiar voice.

"Hey? Honey, is that you? Hey, what are you doing with my granddaughter, you bastard??!" With the idea that I should be rescued from a rapist, or something like that, we saw my grandfather coming towards us.

Raphael just tilted his head down, his eyes closing shut, blowing a tired sigh as his jaw twitched in annoyance. A moment passed when he opened his eyes again, he stepped away from me altogether and stood beside me, like a gentleman, placing a hand gently on my waist and putting me next to him, and making a happy smile, as he faced my angry grandfather.

"I'm sorry, sir, that we meet under these circumstances, but I'm Evelyn's boyfriend. I didn't mean to meet you like this because we've been together only recently and we were really waiting for the right moment to tell you. I don't wish your granddaughter anything bad, just the best, " with an enthusiastic manner, he hands his palm out for a shake and I watched as Grandpa looked at me first to get my agreement and then at him, before slowly responding to the greeting of his hand but still not trusting his words.

I was probably too shocked by what he said because I knew we weren't together.

"Evelyn, is that true? Why didn't you tell me that you finally have someone you've met?" there was concern on my grandfather's face but at the same time disappointment that I had hidden something like that from him. I tried not to show my true emotions and smiled guiltily.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know how would you react to my choices in men because we were just getting to know each other. We are together... a few months now," I lied and I saw his face show relief as he now began to look at us as a couple in love.

"How can you think that, darling? You know that you can tell me everything," he smiled, his eyes making him look like a young man again who was holding me close to him when he first saw me in his daughter's lap.

"I have a free time now, if you don't mind you can join me for tea, I want to get to know Evelyn's man better if she decided to hide you from me," I wanted to protest but my grandfather shook his head and grabbed both of us by the elbows.

My eyes widened in shock as Raphael allowed him to start dragging us with him.
"Well, I don't want to hear any excuses because you can't stand here in the rain all day, I insist," he told us and I tried to be calm.

*Damn, I'm in big trouble....*
