A monster lives here

"Maxilin," Elizabeth said loudly. As I returned my stare, she rushed up to me.

"Please do not open the window." She slammed the half-open window shut once again.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"You can't open the window. A monster lives here. It will devour you alive," she said. Hearing her, I gave a small smile. Kids aren't awful, and they're good company.

I sat on the bed after moving from the side. "Really? Did you see that monster?" I said, pulling my main sword.

"No, I didn't see," she answered as she approached the bed. "However, my father claims a monster lives on the seashore. He has long hands and teeth," Elizabeth explained.

I was paying close attention to her and removing the black cloth from my sword as well. Elizabeth sat down beside me on the bed and stared at my sword with cold eyes.

"Maxilin, is this also your sword?" she asked. She was going to touch it, she said.

"Be cautious. Please do not touch the blade. It can cut your hand," I said.

"Oh, then that must be quite sharp," she commented.

Her gaze was drawn to the gem of all of a sudden. "Hey, what's that?" she said, her face lighting up with curiosity.

"It's a gem to make it appear more attractive," I explained.

"Oh really," she said, "I have a lot of gems. Will you make a sword for me like it?"

"I'll do it when I have the time," I responded with a smile. A maid suddenly knocked on the door. I looked at the door, but she was looking down. "May I come in, sire?" she requested after a time.

I replied, "Yes."

She placed a glass on the table. "Did you give him the strong milkshake that you normally give to me?" Elizebath said, spotting her.

That girl was startled to hear her and turned to face her. "Your father is calling you, Miss. You should see him right away "..

I realized she was attempting to avoid both the question and my stare.

"Why was it so abruptly?" Elizabeth wondered.

"He told us not to bother our guest. Now is the time for him to relax. It's also time for you to go to bed." That maid was a touch harsh in her tone when she stated it. Elizabeth refused to go.

She explained, "I'd like to speak with him. You guys don't talk to me. Will it trouble you if I stay here a little longer, Maxilin?" She asked, her arm over my lap. I turned to face the woman and said, "You may now leave. She isn't bothering me in any way."

She said nothing when she heard me and simply went out of the room. But just as she was about to leave, I spotted her staring at my sword.

I was a little wary about this girl. Elizabeth said unexpectedly, "Maxilin, if you are afraid tonight, just call my name out. My room is next to you."

I smiled at her, but it wasn't my main purpose to chat with her. I'd want to know more. Whatever her father tells me will be helpful, but I think this kid can provide me with more useful information.

"So, Elizabeth, just the four of you live here?" I asked.

"Yes," she murmured, her hand sliding on my razor chain.

"Could you tell me when this monster ended up living here?" I asked.

She gave me a look and replied, "I'm not sure about that. One day, my father arrived with a slew of wounds, and then—".

Mr. Alex entered the room unexpectedly.

"Maxilin," Alex said.

"Mr. Alex," I said as I stood up.

He smiled and turned to face Elizabeth, saying, "You should go to bed right now, honey. Today, Kazia will accompany you. "

"I can sleep alone, but they were talking too loudly late at night," she stated.

"Honey, she can't talk. How will she be able to communicate then? It's a delusion you're having while sleeping. Go to bed now," Alex said.

Elizabeth narrowed her eyes and walked out of my room, unhappy. As she walked away, Mr. Alex approached me and remarked, "You didn't drink yet."

"Sorry, I was too busy speaking with Elizabeth," I said.

"Oh, don't mind what she said," Mr. Alex remarked, standing up and continuing, "Come downstairs. Let's get together for dinner."

"Yes, Mr. Alex. Please give a minute, "I responded. He left my room after hearing me.

On the other side of the hill, a person was staring at Mr. Alex's house. The sea waves were crashing, and the wind was blowing wildly.

The opposing viewpoint.

A knight appeared by opening the front door. Someone was writing something on a piece of paper.

"My lord, you got a letter from the South Fort," the knight stated as he approached that man.

"South fort," the man mumbled as he put down his pen. He asked, "What is it?"

"Here is the letter," the knight remarked as he placed the letter on the table. That man took the letter in his hands and began reading it.

"He had no right to do that. I warned him not to do it. But he keeps ignoring my words," that man said, his voice stern.

That guy turned to face the knight and stated, "We must go to the south fort. We don't have time to set up everyone."

The knight left the chamber as soon as he heard that man. That man murmured, "How could you do that? And why didn't the father tell me anything?"

The opposing viewpoint.

While eating, Maxilin and Alex were conversing. Two maids were standing behind us, which drew my attention. If they're both here, who's with Elizabeth? I took a quick glance behind me. This girl walked up, so she wasn't dumb. Then I looked at the other one after turning my focus to Mr. Alex.

"Mr. Alex, I think we should talk about business now," I remarked.

He said, "Of course, Maxilin."

"I'd want to know more about it. How did you deal with the beast at first?," I asked.

"Actually, we discovered that our crops abruptly withered, causing a drought and causing sickness and pestilence in cattle and humans. When the animals were slaughtered, some of our villagers went to guard, but then they discovered something. Initially, the beast simply attacked animals, but as time went on, it began to attack villagers," he stated.

I was listening closely to him and then asked, "So, how about you? Have you ever come across it? "
