That girl began to treat us as if she were the head of the house after that day. She treated Elizabeth as if she were her entire world. And what about the master? She was always there for him. Three days later, my master awoke. And when he awoke, he was an entirely different man.

I took my time reading the paper and then peered out the window. It’s almost dawn, and the sun is slowly rising.

Everyone stepped out to do their work as well. Evan emerged and took a walk around the patrol.




Evan’s aside.




It’s my first day in charge of the fort. I walked over to the barracks. In the meantime, I noticed Beneth. He dashed to me when he saw me approaching them.




He greeted me as “brother Evan.” I came to a halt there to listen. “Did they reach the north, brother Evan?” he asked. “Beneth,” I responded, “they just departed last night.” “Oh yes, I was concerned about them, brother,” Beneth said. “I understand. “But, beneth,” I responded, “we have nothing to do with it.”




“How about that lady, by the way?” “Did she come to?” I asked. “Yes, brother, she has awakened,” Beneth replied with a small nod of his head. “Maybe she’s eating her breakfast.” I said, “Did you meet her?” “No, I didn’t. I’m terrified of her now. “The way she cursed you was extremely imprudent,” Beneth added. “Kiddo, now you’re terrified of a minor curse. What will you do when you go to the actual war?” I asked, laughing a bit. “ Will you not go there if you are afraid of them?”




“I didn’t mean that, brother.” “See, I can wield the blade,” Beneth replied, showing the skill. “OK, I get it. You’re really skilled at driving a sword. “ “You’re the master of this,” I sarcastically remarked.




“Don’t think I can’t do this,” Beneth replied, lowering his gaze.  “ You’ll hear one day that I won a war and that I will bring a monster’s head to us.” “Of course, You can,” I said with a smile and a nod.




Evan’s aside.




It’s absurd to accept that we sent teenagers to war. It’s not that we want to, but we don’t have any other options. Many young people died in front of our eyes, and we buried some of them there. Some of them return, and some of them gradually become heroes.




But it must be because they are our progeny. They will save our world from them and protect the people. If we can not teach them, how can they lead the world? If we can not teach them to be brave, how will they face those beasts? “Brother,” Beneth’s voice snapped me out of my reverie. I replied, “Yes.” He said, “Did you get any news from Brother Maxilin?” “No, I haven’t heard anything from him yet.” “I’m not sure what he’s doing there,” I mumbled.




I think Uncle sent a letter. But why haven’t they responded? But when it comes to Maxilin, that lady’s statements immediately come to mind.

“Beneth, do your practice,” I ordered as soon as I glanced at him. “I’m going to meet that lady.”




As I already stated, I raced out of there. Now I get what she was getting at. She was speaking about Maxilin, not me.
