Chapter 19

Standing on the terrace was ruma and Amir who were both looking at the sky in silence until ruma spoke

"I don't want any money or company" Ruma said to Amir whose eyes was plastered up in the sky.

"The sky looks so beautiful, It reminds me of my grandma" He said.

"Amir I said ...." she said but was cut short by Amir. 

"Please forget about the company stuff for now" Amir said holding her right hand in his.

"So now I need you to smile" He said puting on his best pout which made Ruma giggle.

"That's my ruma" he said placing his hand on her shoulder gently as she giggled.

"Do you know what ?" Ruma asked.

"What ?" Amir asked folding he's hand across he's chest .

"You actually look good while pouting" she said giggling .

"What do you mean by that ?"Amir said with rage visible in he's eyes .

"I...I.... m..m....mean"ruma stammered thinking she had offended Amir .

"Ruma" Amir said with a strong scent of Authority in he's voice .

"Na'am"she answered with a blurry vision .

"Don't you dare......" Amir paused as he saw tears rolling down her cheeks .

"Cry" he completed he's statement .

"Ruma ,I was joking ,I was messing Arround with you " Amir said holding onto her ankle .

"No you weren't ,you were serious" ruma said weeping harder

"Ruma" Amir said wiping her tears .

"I'm sorry I was only kidding, I'm sorry my baby " Amir said pouting as he held his ears.

"I'm not your baby" Ruma said in a babyish tone.

"But you sound like one"  Amir said while wiping her tears .

"No I'm not ....."Ruma said.

"Wanna go for a ride?" Amir said in other to change the discussion.

"No I don't wanna talk to you"Ruma said as she turned arround to walk away.

"Ruma baby " Amir teased while walking behind "Ruma you are such a ba....." Amir paused when he spotted a red Dot on Ruma's Tommy.

"Ruma turn away" Amir screamed as he tried pushing ruma but to his dismay he was shoot, Amir took the bullet.

On the floor was Amir laying in a pool of blood with his eyes opened, Ruma stared  at him with shock in her eyes as she breaths in and out heavily.

"Amir!" Ruma screamed as she falls to the ground where Amir laid.

"R... R....uma" Amir stammered as he breath's in heavily.

"Amir you are gonna be okay "Ruma said while trying to help Amir up.

"No just leave me here, I'm gonna die" Amir said breathing in and out in a fast pace.

"I just wanna tell you something' He said while holding onto Ruma's right arm.

"Amir you can tell me later, right now I need to get dad" Ruma said getting up but was yanked back down by Amir.

"No, leave dad. I don't want him to see me in this state, He has a weak heart" Amir said.

"Okay I'll get Mynah" Ruma said.

"No please Ruma " Amir said.

"Amir shut up" Ruma screamed "just lay back here, I'll be back soon. Let me get my phone" Ruma said getting up on her feet.

"I'll be back"  ruma said before exiting.

Ruma ran towards the sitting room where she founnd the telephone and dialed Mynah's number which she found in the phone book.

Ruma: mynah please come over here , A..........mir Amir (she stammered)

Mynah: What's wrong?

Ruma : A...A ..mir (Ruma crys out)

Mynahs : what's wrong!  (Mynah screams)

Ruma : Amir was shoot!

Mynah : I'll be there (Mynah said throwing his phone away as he runs in full pace to where his car was parked)

In front of the ICU was Ruma and Mynah who just brought Amir to the hospital where he'll be treated.

"It's all my fault " Ruma said slowly as she leans on mynahs shoulder.

"No Ruma, it's not" Mynah said as he made Ruma seat.

"He saved me, that bullet was meant to hit me. I am supposed to be the one laying on the hospital bed" she said with tears cascading down her eyes as she breaths in heavily.

"He is gonna be Alright insha Allah " mynah said smiling.

"No Mynah, I caused all this. but why would someone want to kill me?, Mynah what have I done to them" Ruma said as her eyes closes slowly.

"I don't know" Mynah said in low tune as though he was trying to figure out all that just happened.

Just then a nurse dressed in all white comes out of the ICU and walks directly towards Ruma

"He wants to see you"she  said to ruma whose eyes was shot .

"Huh"she mumbled as she stands on her feet "how's Amir?" Ruma asked on seeing the nurse.

"He wants to see you" the nurse repeated her statement.

"Okay, Mynah let's go in and see him" she taps Mynah who was presently asleep .

"No, just you" the nurse said looking away from rumas eyes as though scared of Ruma.

"Okay, I'll be right back Mynah" she said to mynah who gave her a sly smile.

The walked into the ICU where Ruma was given a nose mask and a pair of gloves.

"He's over there" the nurse pointed at a place where he was laid.

Ruma walks in a snail pace to where Amir was laid .

"Amir"she muttered slowly.

Amir opened his eyes slowly to find Ruma by his side and a smiles crept upon his face.

"Ruma baby" Amir says with his eyes closed as he reopens it again.

"Na'am" Ruma says holding onto his hand.

"Why the tears?" He asks in a low-key voice that sounded weak.

"Nothing" she said as she fights back the tears.

"Ruma I'm okay,  see" he said trying to get up.

"No Amir, stay there" Ruma stopped him from rising.

"Why did you do that Amir?, Why ! I would have lost you today" ruma cried holding onto his hand.

"Amir please don't ever try that, next time let me die" Ruma said holding his arm firmly.

"Ruma I can never let you die" he say looking directly into her eyes.

"Why Amir? Why did you take the bullet?" Ruma asked.

"Because, because I love you ruma " Amir said with tears cascading down his eyes as he held her hand firmly .

"I love you Ruma" He  muttered to ruma whose eyes were as wide as saucers.
