Challenging The Alpha, My Mate

After touring part of the house, I went back to my room to get ready for dinner. I did not know how many people would be at the packhouse for dinner I did not want to look like a slob, but I also wanted to be myself. I definitely was not going to pretend to be someone I am not. I decided on a pair of white jeans, with a blue cold shoulder top. I let my hair flow as its’ usual self, but I did put a small clip in the back keeping the front of my hair out of my face, I did not want it going in my food while I ate. I decided to go ahead and head down, if I was early, I would help them out. When I walked out of my door there was someone coming out of Maverick's room. I did not make a sound I did not want whomever it was seeing me. The floor creaked where I stood, well that did not work. As the lean tall woman turned around and faced me, she waved and then said, “Bye Maverick, baby.” My heart sank, Akiva whimpered in my head at the sound of another person being affectionate with our mate. She was both sad and pissed as hell. We just stomped our way down the stairs and to the kitchen. Honestly, our appetite left but I don’t want to be rude to my brother, Emma, Dylan, or Shawn, they do not deserve it, they did not do anything wrong.

When I got to the kitchen, they were setting the table and bringing out the food. Normally the at a table for seating it is, Alpha at the head, Luna on his left, Beta on his right, their mate, then beside the Luna is the Delta and their mate. We all knew how the seating was to be and from the number of place settings, it would just be the eight of us. I decided to sit where Dylan normally would. When he and Shawn came into the dining area, I quickly put my hands in a prayer motion silently begging him, he looked at me cautiously and nodded. He then saw how tense I got when Maverick walked in eyeing me. He knew when I was angry, he is my best friend after all. Before Maverick can speak, Shawn spoke to him out of hearing range. “It is ok Kiah, I told Shawn it was a personal thing and to help us out. So, he is currently going on a limb and making up a reason for us to be sitting like this. I will take your debt out on telling me what is going on.” “Dylan, thank you. Secondly, not here I will tell you when a certain someone is not around me.” “So, the big bad Alpha did make you angry. It must be bad you don’t get pissed over anything. After dinner though, your room.” “Deal. By the way, love the mark.” With that Shawn had come up behind us, “it is, right, I think they are badass.” He said proudly showing his mark.

We then began eating, well, they did I had a bite here and there. EJ was asking me questions of the years I have been gone, Emma asking all of us fighting questions. Cheater peter over there hardly ate he was watching me like I was going to do something at any moment, I could also tell him, and his wolf were having an internal debate. Good I hope his wolf chews his head off, metaphorically of course. “So, Micaiah, how about you join us training the warriors tomorrow. I think you would be a big help.” “I would love that.” “You could also see the battle tomorrow before training.” Now I was curious, “Battle?” “Yeah, you know how people have their differences and butt heads right?” I nodded. “Well, if you go to the Alpha, or the Betas, or Delta and if it isn’t something like they stole your doughnut, and more towards needing to hash it out, you get the battle.” This definitely piqued my interest, and I would be talking to Shawn. Maverick then chimed in, “It would be great if you four could help them learn new techniques.” I just nodded; you could tell he was trying to get me to talk. Of course, Dylan being Dylan, “Alpha if I were you, I would let her cool off.” “What did I do this time”, he asks as he throws his hands in the air as if I am being ridiculous. It just went through me I put my plate in sink and went straight to my room mind-linking Dylan to come up when he was done, I would wait up for him. I heard them mumbling as I walked off, I did not care.

It was not too much longer after I went to my room and threw on some pj’s that Dylan was knocking on my door. “So, my sister, what did he do?” I just looked at him and he always knew when I was sad. So, I told him what I saw right before dinner. “Oh baby, I am so sorry. That man is nothing but a jackass, who needs his ass kicked.” “Well after dinner I thought of something else, I am going to ask Shawn to battle Maverick tomorrow, this is twice he has done something rude, and he needs put in his place.” It was not even five minutes later Shawn walked in, “you called babe?” he looked at Dylan who had a serious look, “you need to hear her out before you answer please.” Shawn nodded and sat in the chair by my bed waiting for me to tell him what I wanted. “I want to battle Maverick tomorrow; due to a few things I would rather not get you involved since you are his delta and his friend.” He put his hand on his forehead and before he could protest Dylan jumped in. “Babe if anyone made me feel the way she does with what has happened trust me you would be fighting someone if I did not kick their ass myself.” “Alright, I will announce it after the first battle. You do realize he is the Alpha though, right?” I just nodded and Dylan hugged me, and they left. I was heartbroken and defeated but I would let Akiva get some justice tomorrow.

I woke up feeling like shit, my head was pounding and felt like there was a bag of bricks on my head. I went and showered to get ready for what was going to be a hell of a day. I made sure to wear flexible gear to fight in. I wore black leggings, a red sports bra, and a black cropped sweater jacket, along with black sneakers. When I made my way downstairs, I seen Cammy and Jake waiting on me by the front door, but no Dylan. “Hey guys you ready for today?” “Yeah, you sure about what you’re doing today?” “Yes, I need to, by the way where is Dylan?” they just shrugged their shoulders, oh well he is probably with his mate watching the training before the battles today. “Well, let us get this show on the road, shall we?” they just smiled and laughed knowing a battle with an Alpha would be a hell of a fight. I just hope this was the right decision. I mean fighting him, I know I can fight but being up against an Alpha was going to be a challenge. We made our way toward the battling ring where we saw Shawn standing with Maverick, EJ, and Emma. Maverick hung his head low in defeat, Shawn must have told him about our battle today. Akiva whimpered at the sight of Maverick being sad, but we must do this, I mean I am not good with sharing feelings, fighting is what we know, and he hurt us both.
