I Will Not Break
We
have been planning and strategizing for a week now, we could not keep holding
off any longer. We needed to start on our path to get my brother back and end
this war of evil.
According to Lacey it could take seven days’ time
just to get there we were already very well trained and very well armed we
didn't need to take many warriors, so we took a few of our best including EJ,
Dylan, Shawn, and Emma. We also had our witch on our side, and she was powerful
in her own right to take on that evil Stella.
My heart still ached for Jake and
Cammy, wondering what they were doing in heaven. I wish I could have said goodbye
and told them how grateful I was for everything. I just hoped they knew deep
down I loved them dearly. I was relaxing in the meadow deep in my thoughts when
I felt his presence near me. “Maverick, remember we have a bond you can not
sneak up on me.”
I laughed but
heard nothing in response. I looked around and I couldn’t find him I sniffed
the air to realize I could not smell him either. I then began to have this
unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. I tried mind-linking but no
prevail, I began to panic when I heard a deep unsettling snarl.
When I turned, I seen the scarred man yet again,
seems he is always following me. I let a growl erupt louder than he imagined. “Well,
we cannot have you warning them now, can we?” He said slowly approaching when I
got into stance ready to fight one of the men behind this, I felt a quick sharp
pain in the back of my neck. When I turned, I seen another one of theirs
holding a needle with what smelled of wolfsbane. They quickly grabbed me and
knowing it would be hard to track me without my wolf present I quietly bit into
my wrist, enough to draw blood so I would be easier to track.
Then just
like that darkness began to consume me as the scarred man said “Micaiah, I knew
I would find a way to break him.” and then black is all I knew.
MAVERICK
I was happy to have Micaiah back with us and not on
this self-loathing spiral. I needed her more than she could know. We finally
have our attack planned out and are ready to set in motion. I knew she was out
in the meadows near where Jake and Cammy were murdered, she went there every
morning. I never bothered her there, she needed that time, but this time she
was there longer than normal, and Alaric was on edge about it and making me
uneasy.
So, we headed out to see her and just check up to
put us both at ease.
When we reached the meadows, I was on high alert, I
did not see Micaiah nor smell her scent nearby. I quickly mind-linked the group
and informed them that she was gone and all I smelled was her blood and wolfsbane
which could only mean one thing she was
kidnapped.
MICAIAH
When I woke up, my head was pounding, I could not
feel my wolf, I figured the wolfsbane was still in my system. I smelt the vile
mixture of vomit, blood, and clay dirt. I heard whimpers of others near me. When
I opened my eyes, it was completely black, without my wolf I could not see
anything.
I could hear others whispering as well about the
new person they brought in, then I also heard the guards speaking vile things
about the women prisoners. It was disgusting, making my stomach turn at their
words.
They truly were awful creatures. I would have to
wait until either sunup or someone to turn the lights on to be able to get a
grasp of the area I am in. there were a few small areas where the moon light
was shining through, but I could only see a few silhouettes. There was no way I
was going to sleep I needed to figure a way out of here, but I knew it was not
going to be easy.
As the sun began to rise it began to get brighter
where I was being held underground through a few holes that were letting the
light shine through.
What I seen made my heart break, there were
several others being held captive, some adults, some children. They were
covered in dirt and cuts, bruises, and scars.
As I took in the sight around me, I heard an evil
chuckle. The man began to close the distance in between us. It was the man with
scar over his eye. “Hello, Micaiah. I have been waiting years to have this
moment. The moment I finally find a way to break my nephew permanently.” I stared
into his eyes as he spoke of my mate. “You are nothing but a spineless coward.” I shouted then spit in his face. He growled in my direction and then turned and
walked away,
As I sat in this hell hole I stared at the others,
sad for them, seeing the marks on their bodies showing the pain they have
endured in their time here. I heard a groan from the cell to my left, I tried
to see who it was, but it was still dark in that cell, and I could only see the
silhouette of a man. I could not help but ask “are you okay?” Silence is what I
was met with then finally, “So, I take it you are my little sister.” I was
shocked by the remark.
“Malcolm is that you?” “Well, if not it looks like
we have more unknown siblings.” “Malcolm I am so sorry; I did not know.” “I
know you did not, I mean you weren’t even born at the time.” “Lacey, she loves
and misses you.” He took a deep breath at her name. “You know my Lacey?” “Yes,
she is my protector, she has always been trying to find a way to save you.”
There was a brief silence, “there is no saving me,
there is no winning against them.” I did not realize how far gone he was,
depressed and has given up. “Malcolm, you do not mean that.” “Yet I say it
because I do. I have tried everything. There is no way out, there is no way to
win.”
Now I know
her frustration with me. “You know what fine, give up, be a coward. Your mate
has spent every waking moment trying to find a way, find help, to get you out
of here. What do you do, sit, and sulk about how it is the end? Not me I have
fought my entire life and I do not plan on giving up just yet. There are people
coming to save us whether you want it or not.”
I turned away after speaking my mind I mean he was being so stubborn and
hard-headed.
I was so lost in thought I did not hear the man
come in. “The prophecy says you are to defeat me, yet you are a scoundrel in a
hole of dirt.” The Alpha to these barbarians was standing at my cell. He was
not worth my words. “It is time to break you as I did your big brother.” I looked
at him with curiosity when my cell was then unlocked. Two men grabbed me
dragging me to the center of the room. They strapped my arms to two posts about
three feet apart.
I did not know what was happening, but I do know
one thing. “now scream, Micaiah.” He the struck me with a leather whip. The crack
against my back stung like a thousand needles and burned as if it were on fire.
Another crack, but I bit my lip to not scream. “You will never break me; I will
not give you the pleasure to scream.” He laughed, “You are much stronger than
your brother over there, but I promise sweetie you will beg for mercy sooner or
later.” Another crack, and another. I bit my lip so hard I was beginning to
draw blood.
After what seemed like an eternity he finally
stopped. The pain was so bad I felt nauseous and dizzy. As they threw me back
in my cell. I could feel the warmth of my own blood trinkling down my back. “You
are going to be a tough one to break but you will eventually.” He then left. I laid
there trying to relax from the pain. “I told you, there is no way to win.” I heard
Malcolm whisper, “and I told you we will win.” With my last thoughts on
Maverick and my family, hoping they find us soon, I fainted from the intensity
of the pain.
