His Story
MAVERICK POV
I went back to where Micaiah was sitting and sat right beside her, telling her my past was going to be hard enough so having to look her in the eye would make it that much harder. “This is going to be hard so please, let me finish before questions or anything okay.” She nodded and I could feel her staring at the side of my face, taking a deep breath I begun telling her my story. “Well as the Alphas son, you already have your future planned out for you, and at the age of 15 you are sent out to the academy to learn and train as an Alpha. That way when it is your time to take over you are prepared for what is to come. There were two different classes we had to participate in seven days a week. From five in the morning until noon we were in Alpha Management, where you are taught all details of paperwork, alliances, enemies, that type of stuff. Then after lunch about one in afternoon until six in the evening we went through training, each Alpha to be was assigned a specific trainer. My trainer was my uncle and so I thought it would be easier with him as the trainer.” I took a deep breath knowing the story she was about to hear was not a pleasant one. “The first few days weren’t bad, but things slowly started going downhill. If I did not beat the time, he set for me during laps he withheld water from me. If I did not stand up to his standard and do everything he wanted and how he wanted me to he beat me with silver chains.” I heard her gasp but continued with the story I knew if I stopped, I would never finish. “He would tell me if I ever told anyone he would hurt Emma, and he would make sure I would never get Alpha and be a disgrace to the family. Of course, it was just beatings I could handle that but then he got worse. He was so evil, but he wore a mask for everyone else acting like this amazing person who was looking to better us and help our packs, he wasn’t who they thought, who I thought for that matter. During the hunting for rogues near the land, who were spotted causing other packs harm he made sure to make it quite clear there were to be no survivors no matter if they submitted or not.” I took a deep breath before I continued knowing the next part would be awful. “Micaiah, over those last three years, I killed so many innocent rogues, so many dead at my hands, my life I have done so much wrong, hurt so many people. I never thought the Goddess would bless me with a mate, to myself I don’t think I deserve happiness. I took so many others happiness away why should I have any. I have nightmares nearly every night of the lives I took.” I hung my head not knowing what she has to say, possibly expecting her to run away, I would not blame her if she did. Deep down I hope she does not and accepts me.”
Micaiah POV
I don’t think Maverick realized that I now have control, my heart was breaking for him. now I understand why he is so distant he doesn’t believe that he deserves any kind of happiness. “Maverick, look at me.” He didn’t so I took my fore finger and thumb softly grabbing his chin, giving a little force to make him look at me. “Maverick, I do not blame you for the things you done. You did them to protect yourself and your family. The one who is to blame is your uncle not you.” His eyes were red and glistening from the tears welling in his eyes. “You are my mate, and I think nothing less of you. If anything, I think you are stronger than anyone else realizes, you have so much on your shoulders, please stop blaming yourself, because I do not.” Without hesitation I grabbed him in a hug. Feeling the sparks shoot through my body more powerful due to finally accepting the bond. I felt his arms wrap around me accepting the embrace, something we both needed was to finally accept each other and be willing to open up to each other. “Thank you, Micaiah.” He whispered in my ear, “Maverick, you know some of my past, but I have hurt others as well, every day that night with my uncle replays in my head. We both have had a shitty go at things, but I believe the goddess fated us together to be each’s support, to make each other stronger. We have to be open and trust each other.” “You are right Micaiah, honestly I was praying you would not run after telling you, my past.” “So, if we are being open and honest there is something else, I need to show you and Alaric. If I am going to be the packs Luna, I need to stop hiding who we are. So please shift I think we should let them run together back to the packhouse.” Maverick smiled and shifted into Alaric. They were gorgeous, Maverick was still in control, but his eyes slightly brightened letting me know Alaric was also paying close attention. ‘You ready Vee?’ ‘Yes Ki, its time to stop hiding.’
We then stepped back beginning to shift causing Maverick to stare wondering what is to come. Once we shifted, we couldn’t look into their eyes worrying what he had to say, but then he appeared in my mind. ‘You are beautiful.’ We perked up hearing those words come from him. ‘Thank you, as are you and Alaric, let’s let them spend some time together, see you again at packhouse.’ ‘Sounds good’. With that we let them run free, hunt, and not worry about anything but themselves. At the pack house we shifted, I was fully clothed so of course I got the eyebrow raise from Maverick, “Another time, I think we call it a night, looks like we were out here longer than we thought.” He nodded and we begun walking up to our rooms, I felt so complete knowing that we were finally accepting and opening to each other. “Thank you for listening Micaiah.” “Thank you for trusting me and opening up.” He again embraced me in a hug inhaling my scent as he did so, “Micaiah, good night, see you in the morning for training.” “Good night, Maverick.” With that we went our separate ways, honestly, I believe this night I would sleep blissfully, with the way both Vee and I were feeling.
I was jolted awake by someone shaking me half to death. “What the absolute fuck?” I shouted figuring it was probably Dylan, for he is known to do this. When I gained my sight and senses, I realized it was not Dylan, but it was Shawn. “Shawn what is going on?” “Micaiah, I needed to talk to you privately,” I knitted my brows in confusion. “This must be important seeing it is only three in the morning.” “Yeah, sorry about that but I need your advice and help.” “Okay, let me hear it.” He looked like a nervous wreck. “I want to propose to Dylan, yes I know we are mates and fated together forever, but I want him see how much he means to me.” “Awe, Shawn, that is awesome he will love it. So, I will help you. First calm yourself, second get some rest. After training we will meet up and go over some details and set up a fantastic night for you both.” He grabbed me into an enormous hug, “Thank you Micaiah, thank you so much.” He then took off back to his room and now fully awake I decided to go ahead shower and get dressed for the day. I went to the kitchen and made myself an iced hazelnut coffee topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. I then went to the balcony on my floor to watch the sunrise. I felt so much more relaxed after the talk with Maverick and opening up to him. Vee was humming in my head in happiness, finally free of all the hiding and being in secret and finally spending time with Alaric. The sun was finally rising and was so peaceful and beautiful. I was lost in the sight I did not realize that Maverick had joined me. “Good morning.” I jumped being startled, “Good morning, Mav. How are you?” “Good and yourself.” “Good.” He then embraced me in a hug, “Even though I am enjoying this I may say you might want to go talk to Dylan.” “Why?” “Him and Shawn are fighting over you.” He said with his eyebrow raised and I realized it was because we both had each other’s scent on the other. “Shawn was in my room at three this morning asking for advice and planning something special for Dylan, but apparently Dylan is overreacting.” Without thinking I kissed Maverick on the cheek and took off to talk with Dylan.
