Chapter 44

Marcus's POV

I left the office to go looking for Lily. I texted her before I left and asked her to meet me at a coffee shop near her work place. I arrived before her as usual and asked for a cappuccino while I wait.

She came in fifteen minutes later. As always late a trait she picked up from our mother. I don't get the whole fashionably late part, it was just annoying and encouraged laziness. She took a chair opposite me . She looked as beautiful as ever. Her blonde hair curly left free to spread on her shoulders ,light makeup on her face , wearing a short dress as per usual and her finger nails were perfectly manicured.

She was the true definition of elegance. Lily has never hated anyone and it came as a surprise me that she disliked Zawadi. I left them for a few minutes to use the bathroom so I didn't know what they actually talked about in details being my back. But whatever it was Zawadi was afraid and I didn't want that.

" Hello little sister"

" Hey big brother. What brings you here? In this side of town?"

" Can't I come to see what my little sister has been up to?" I asked with a sly smile on my face.

" I know you. This has nothing to do with me. Spit it out brother" she said rolling her eyes.

" I want you to be honest with me"

" As always"

" What did you say to Zawadi when I left to use the bathroom the other day?"

" So she came crying to you. Her big white knight in shining armor to the rescue" she said sarcastically.

" What did you say Lily?"

" That I didn't like her" she proceeded to look at her manicured nails like they were the most interesting things in the world.

" And why might I ask, did you say that?"

" Because its true. I don't like her Marcus. Their is something about her that is not right"

" Like what?"

" I don't know exactly"

" So you dislike her for no particular reason and against your better judgement you decided to tell her to her face" I growled.

" Yes. I prefer being truthful. "

" Don't ever talk to her again unless you have something nice to say" I concluded.

" Brother I.."

" Enough Lily! I didn't think you could be like this. You of all the people. After everything I have been through don't you want me to be happy?" I asked narrowing my eyes.

" Of course I want you to be happy, but I don't think she is the one for you. Katelyn..."

I interrupted her since I didn't want to hear anything about that devil again.

" So that's why don't like her. Still team Katelyn all the way I see"

" Katelyn was good for you. She came from a good family, at least you knew she was not after your money"

" And who said Zawadi is after my money?"

" Have you seen Zawadi? Where is she from? Let me guess, some poor place where her people have no water or electricity"

" I have never know you to be so judgmental. It's not a good look on you"

I rose from my seat and left a hundred dollar bill on the table for the drinks. I was not going to seat there and let her talk about my girlfriend like that.

" When your are ready to apologize to Zawadi, you know where to find us. Until then don't look for me" with that I left.

I needed Zawadi now more than ever. She was the only person in my life who had no agenda . Someone who didn't judge me nor my actions. She didn't want anything from me apart from my love and affection and I was finally going to tell her how I feel.

I entered the car and asked the driver to take me home.

When we arrived at home, before I could get out of the car I got a text from Harry and Taylor indicating that they have found the thief. They sent me the IP address of the electronic device used.

I entered the house quickly and went straight to my office to track the IP address. I poured myself a drink before I got down to tracking. Before I could start the long awaited process I was interrupted by a knock on my door.

" Come in"

The door opened slowly to reveal my Zawadi. She looked so good in those shorts she likes to wear around the house. If only she knew how horny they made me each time I saw her wearing them.

" You are back early"

" I wanted to spend some time with you but I have a small matter to take care of before I come down"

" Do you want me to prepare anything particular for dinner?" She asked always taking care of me.

" Anything is good my love"

" Okay, I will be in the kitchen waiting for you"

" Okay love"

She left as quickly as she came in. I went back to the matter at hand. I put the IP address in my laptop and started tracking . After a few minutes the search came back with an answer.

My heart broke from what I saw. This was an answer that I did not expect. I was too astounded to react or even say anything. I rose from my desk and went to pour myself another drink as I needed it. I think I needed the whole bottle because that was just mind blowing.

Since I didn't believe it ,I asked Harry and Taylor to do the search and tell me what they found. After half an hour they came up with the same results as I did. So I was not wrong. For the first time in my life , I wanted to be wrong. What was I going to do? The universe must be playing a prank on me because this was just heartbreaking.

This person has been under my nose the whole time. Playing me for a fool. My feet felt too weak to carry my body so I slammed my body on the couch. I stared out the window wondering what was the next step. Was I ready to face this?

I finished my drink and I started feeling numb. I knew what I was going to do. I turned off my laptop and headed downstairs.
