Chapter 39: In Which It's Revealed

Just as Rolfe along with two other guards dragged Alexander out, heading towards the holding cells in the compound, they stopped halfway when Rolfe made them come to a halt.

"Isn't this so anti-climactic?"Rolfe said with a smug grin on his face.

"What do you mean?" Alexander asked, confused as to why Rolfe was acting all strange.

"You thought you could have everything, the job, boss's favor, hell even an affair with the heiress and you really did have it all for a while there but now you're nothing"Rolfe sneered out and Alexander turned his head a little to look at him.

"You're telling me that you are the one who got jealous and snitched" Alexander confronted she had to stall even though he couldn't care less about who snitched considering he knew it was going to happen sooner or later.

"I couldn't stand the sight of your this whole time, I mean for god's sake you were a new recruit, and Mr. Gambino was handing you out favors and promoting you Like it was nothing, I knew that soon nor you would be promoted to my position as his right hand man and I just couldn't let that happened. I had an inkling about you and Miss. Gambino and it turned out to be true when I started keeping an eye on the two of you through a spy I hired at the Island. He took photo evidence that was gold and here we are, I worked hard for this position there is no way I am losing it to some army boy " Rolfe ended, looking smug.

"well you did a great job" and with that said Alexander jabbed both his elbows with as much force as he could muster into the shins of the two guards holding him back and then wasted no time in pulling out the swiss army knife that was always hidden in his sock and jabbing it into Rolfe's side making him shout out in agony as he pulled it back out.

Alexander then picked up the gun that had fallen from Rolfe's hand and made a run for it before any of them had the chance to recover as fast as he could. The adrenaline pumping in his veins aiding him in his escape.

He was in such a haze that he shot at whoever came his way before they had the chance to get close enough.

He was getting closer and closer to the back exit, the secret one that led out which he had used to sneak Isla out on their carnival date.

He picked up pace as he got close to it and a bullet grazed his shoulder, but he couldn't register the pain at that moment and just kept on running because he knew that this was his only chance if they captured him, that would be the end of him as well as the end of Isla's life considering she would be married off to that monster Jamerson.

He could still stop it all if he could just get out alive from the Gambino estate.

Within seconds he was in front of the automatic key card operated heavy metal doors. He wasted no time in pulling the key card that was in his pocket and pressing it to the scanner.

The metal doors would take time to completely lift up, precious time that he didn't have considering that there was probably a fleet of Gambino men following him by now so he rolled out from under the gate as soon as it was open enough, not even halfway.

As soon as he was out, he was on his feet and running again towards the main street.

once on the main street, he saw a cab coming from a distance and without thinking much he jumped in front of it making it halt with noisy breaks right before it was almost about to hit him.

"What the actual fu-" before the cab driver could even complete his slang, Alexander was scampering off into the back seat of the cab, slamming the door shut.

"Drive! Drive!" Alexander shouted out to the befuzzled cab driver who had no choice but to kick in the engine and drive away.

only once the cab was at a safe distance did Alexander let out a breath of relief.

"I almost ran you over man and even though it was your fault, they always gonna blame the Indian guy! " the cab driver complained, his accent thick.

"Sorry about that" was all Alexander could say as he ran a hand over his face, letting out a wince at the movement as he forgot about the injury on his left shoulder where the bullet had grazed him.

"You bleeding man, you want me to drive you to the hospital?" the driver asked.

There was no time for hospitals he could bandage this up himself, he had handled way worse before.

"No no, not the hospital, no time for that, drive me to Bareezè storage unit" Alexander said.

"It's literally a 2 hour long drive" the driver told him and Alexander grunted.

"I know, don't worry I'll pay you 200 dollars for it" Alexander said.

"Yout it" the driver replied, setting his GPS to the location.

Alexander got out of the cab as soon as he saw the familiar storage unit. He realized then that his wallet was confiscated by the Gambino men.

"Rajesh, wait here a minute, I'll go get your money right away" Alexander said and the cab driver who had gotten acquainted with Alexander during the two hours drive nodded.

He took fast strides towards the storage that he had rented a long while ago when he signed up for all this mess not knowing how big of a turn his life would take.

His wit was at the very end and as soon as he reached there he got the key from under the camouflaged loose block in front of the wit where he had left it the last time he had been here which seemed like a lifetime ago now.

He opened the shutter to reveal everything that would get him and Isla out of this mess.

After paying the cab driver Alexander got back to the storage unit and sat on the bed to take a moment in order to register the crazy events that took place previously and get his head straight.

This was basically his home since he got discharged from the army, it wasn't that he couldn't afford a decent place it was just that he didn't see the point.

Richard Gambino's voice telling Isla that she was going to get married in two weeks and the image of Isla collapsing kept on repeating in a Loop in his head.

He wanted to just scoop her up and take her far away but at the moment he knew that he had to snap out of it and get himself straightened out in order to actually work on straightening out this ordeal and get into action.

Time was limited and he had to be clear headed about this.

So first he fixed up his shoulder with the first aid kit he had in the unit and then he got to work.

All of the eight months he spent at the Gambino mansion and all of those errands, the missions, the paperwork, sneaking in, out, was finally going to prove fruitful.

During all those errands and missions he had collected all sorts of incriminating evidence, Richard Gambino favoring him just got him more access and privilege allowing more ease in his job, heck he got so lucky that not only did he get incriminating evidence against the Gambino empire but also the Siegel's.

Now he was going to get all that evidence straight all into one place on the government issued laptop and take it to his employers and colleagues at CIA.
