Chapter 41: In Which She Wears A Wedding Gown
The girl in the mirror looked like a vision to behold, the white mermaid gown hugged her curves in all the right places and showed off her delicate figure, yet the girl in the mirror looked sullen.
That beauty of the shine in her eye, apples of her cheeks that were always tinted crimson, the life on her face altogether wasn't present.
Instead, she had lost a lot of weight, the cheekbones on her face more prominent than ever before, her eyes red from crying and those exquisite collar bones all the more boney.
Isla felt like throwing up seeing herself in her wedding gown. She didn't find herself attractive at all
She had immensely lost weight and they had to alter her wedding gown two times, this being the third one as she stood for the fitting.
Two complete weeks had passed and tomorrow was her doomsday considering she was to be wedded to Jamerson Siegel tomorrow.
Isla had countless break downs. She couldn't stop thinking about Alexander no matter how hard she tried, everything reminded her of him.
She knew that chances were he wasn't coming back for her, no sane man would.
She was just glad that he was able to escape and she was also glad for the precious moments that they were able to spend together, that she would always cherish.
Jamerson had been torturing her with his words since he had arrived at the Gambino mansion this week. He called her a whore and all the things he'd do to her right after the wedding but in all honesty, she just tuned him out.
He didn't matter, nothing mattered now considering it will all be over by tonight.
Isla planned to end her life tonight.
She didn't want to get married to a demon like Jamerson. She wanted a life with Alexander and that didn't seem to be happening.
She already had her anxiety medication, she'd swallow as many as she could. That was her plan and she had made peace with it.
However, Isla's train of thoughts was cut short when the familiar noise of machine guns coursed throughout the mansion causing a chaos to arise.
Before she even had the time to react and assess the situation, she was surrounded by a group of armed guards as she was being dragged away to god knows where.
"It's the fucking FBI! Take Miss Gambino to the chopper awaiting on the outside near the compound, I'll secure mister Gambino" Rolfe shouted in a panicked state as they headed outside of the mansion.
She was in a congested circle surrounded by guards, it was almost suffocating.
She was clueless as to what was happening, it was utter chaos.
She was still in her wedding gown and bare feet, it was a struggle to walk in that mermaid cut gown, much less fun.
Isla looked up to see at least three choppers with the FBI slogan in them and she could see a lot of federal bureau men armed and quickly clearing the way, shooting down the Gambino guards who were coming hard at them as well.
It was a war zone.
There were bodies and blood on the green lush garden that Isla had such fond memories of.
She felt as if everything was going in slow motion, she didn't know where she was being pushed at. She was just going.
At a distance, she saw the FBI surrounding Jamerson. They had him on his knees and handcuffed as he threw all sorts of slangs and threats at them.
Was she going to get arrested too? The thought crossed her mind and before she had time to ponder on it, her breath hitched in her throat as her gaze met with familiar dark eyes from in between the wall of guards.
Alexander too halted in his steps as he finally found the person he was looking for. The person he missed immensely.
Isla's body acted on its own accord as she tried pushing through the wall of guards to get to him.
Frustrated tears gathered in her eyes each time she was pushed back.
Alexander too wasted no time in running towards her.
"With me ! she is over there! don't shoot at her!" Alexander shouted to the FBI agents that followed him towards where Isla was being taken away towards a chopper.
In no time the guards around Isla were being shot down, injured enough to not get up but not dead. They had orders not to kill anyone unless necessary for self defense.
The sound of machine guns was so loud and it was so chaotic that Isla couldn't even hear herself think.
She just stood there, hand on ears and eyes closed, wishing it would all just pass.
It broke Alexander's heart to see her standing there so distressed in that white wedding gown which had sprays of blood on it now, not hers.
He didn't waste another second before shooting three guards in the legs and running towards her.
It was as if the rest of the world was a blur around him as he closed the distance between them.
She didn't look up, here eyes and ears still tightly shut.
Alexander didn't want her to see and hear all this bloodshed anymore either, hence, he just lifted her up, holding her close against him.
Isla had the faint idea whose arms she was lifted into, he felt and smelt familiar so she couldn't help but basque in the comfort of him, trying to hide herself in him as he held her close.
"I am here doll, it's gonna be okay" that's exactly what she wanted to hear.
Alexander had what he came for, he couldn't give a crow about anything else at that moment except for her well being.
He abandoned the killing grounds, getting into the safety of the bulletproof SUV of the SWAT team which had two guards sitting inside.
They looked at him in shock as he sat holding the bride in his arms.
He kissed her and whispered sweet nothings in her ears tell she just passed out from mental and physical exhaustion.
