"Is that so, or are you just trying to make me feel better? I mean, so I don't come off as the relationship cuckold," Suzie folded her arms, defiantly.

"But honey..."

"I just want the truth, Nathan," she said, looking him in the eyes.

"It is the truth."

"You broke your own rule, so that means I can do the same with another man... or better yet, two at once, naked on top of me," she said thoughtfully, noticing the anger in his features.

"Dammit! Don't even think about it, you're mine," he growled possessively.

"Only until this stupid contract ends," she reminded him with an acidic voice, but she didn't know he had other plans.

"Suzanne... I didn't have sex with those girls. The only reason I took them there was out of pride," he said through gritted teeth. "You rejected me, after all. Did you even stop to think about how I felt?"

"I wasn't feeling well, Nathan," she frowned, annoyed. "Did you even think about how I felt? If I said I didn't want to, it was simply because I was unwell."

"Then why didn't you tell me, instead of distancing yourself from me?" he reproached.

"I don't know, I was very tired," she sighed. "I didn't think you would feel so offended by that."

"Maybe I overreacted, but babe... you've become indispensable to me," he said with an affected voice, swallowing hard.

When he kissed her, this time she reciprocated. Suzanne knew Nathan wasn't the kind of man who expressed his feelings, but he had done so, and that meant he wasn't lying.

Even though she still felt a bit resentful, she broke off the kiss, turning her face away.

At that moment, Dr. Harper entered the room.

"Good morning," he greeted. "How is the most beautiful patient this morning?"

"Fine, thank you," Suzanne replied, smiling.

Nathan, on the other hand, looked at Jules with disdain.

"Nathan, I need you to step out for a moment while I examine the patient," the doctor informed him.

"Not a chance," he replied bluntly.

"Nathan, it's clinic policy."

"Hmm, I'm not leaving," he said firmly, crossing his arms.

Jules had no choice but to proceed with the examination with Nathan there.

"Everything is going well. We'll discharge you today," he informed her.

"I'm glad to hear that," she said, sighing with relief.

Nathan didn't allow her to return to the boarding house. Instead, he took her directly to his mansion and forbade her from returning to work until she fully recovered.

In the last few days, Nathan would leave for work, and she would stay in that large property.

She felt lonely despite the housekeeper's company, as she was a charming lady.

Suzanne was grateful that Nathan left early for work, well before she woke up. That way, she could hide her morning nausea and vomiting.

She had also called her father, telling him she was fine and that she would visit him soon.

She didn't know how much longer she could keep hiding all this, but she still didn't feel safe telling Nathan the truth.
Suzanne couldn't stop wondering what his reaction would be when she dropped the news on him.
She had broken the most important rule of all.
"Don't get pregnant under any circumstances, I don't want a responsibility like that."
She perfectly remembered the coldness with which Nathan had said those words, and that was what tormented her: that he would reject her when she told him that secret she was hiding with so much care, even though she knew that in a few months she would no longer be able to hide it.
That night Nathan arrived earlier than usual. He found Suzanne sleeping and stayed there, contemplating the woman who had awakened strange feelings in him.
Feelings he never thought he could feel.
He left the room silently and took refuge in his study, he had so much to think about. He didn't understand what he felt for her, he had never been in love, he had never experienced what love was.
So what was it that he felt for her? He told himself that he would know with time.
Suzanne spent the whole afternoon sleeping, around 7:10pm she went down to dinner as usual and waited for Nathan to return to have dinner together, but at that moment she felt hungry.
She didn't usually intrude, but that day she had asked the cook to make lasagna, she had such a desire to eat it.
When she got to the living room, she was surprised to see Nathan there.
"Finally awake," he said, standing up.
He approached her and put his arms around her.
"I didn't expect to see you here," she said awkwardly.
"I got here early today."
"Do you call 7 early? You only got here an hour earlier than usual," she raised an eyebrow.
“In fact, I've been here since 3 pm, but you, miss, were taking a long nap," he said with an amused smile.

“Why didn't you say anything to me?”

“You looked so comfortable sleeping, I didn't want to disturb you," he shrugged.

“Nathan, you should have woken me up," she protested, but he denied it vigorously.

“You're still not completely healthy, the best thing to do is to rest well so you can recover quickly," he let out a sigh. “I miss you over there, Emilia is a good assistant, but not as good as you.”

After that he didn't give her time to speak, he took her lips in his and kissed her longingly.

They were interrupted by the call of the housekeeper, who informed them that dinner was ready.

“We'll have dinner on the terrace," he said and led her to the terrace.

They sat at a small but beautifully decorated table. With the full moon and bright stars, it was an incredible night.

The candles on the table gave it a romantic touch.

She looked at everything with curiosity.

She had never imagined Nathan to be a romantic man, but it seemed that she was getting to know a new side of this incredible man.

“The night is beautiful," she said, looking at the bright moon, one that looked like a fake moon.

“No more than you, Suzie.”

She smiled, flattered, how could she not love a man like that?
