Suzanne, with her heart pounding, arrived at the Strong mansion and a gasp escaped her lips upon seeing that her children were in perfect condition. However, they started crying, as if expressing the pain of her absence for several days.
She couldn't help but run towards them, hugging and kissing them all over, feeling her heart fill with gratitude and love.
Shortly after, the door opened again, and the serious face of Jarek Strong appeared in the doorway. Suzanne felt a mix of relief and despair upon seeing him, bursting into tears and remembering how much this man had done for her and her grandchildren.
Jarek walked towards her, his heavy steps echoing in the silent room.
"I won't ask how you are because I can see it clearly," he said with a broken voice, his eyes reflecting deep sadness. "Suzanne, you have been very brave."
She didn't feel brave at all.
Her negative feelings about what had happened and the confinement she had suffered weighed on her like a heavy burden. However, she nodded weakly, trying to find comfort in his words.
"Where is Nathan?" she asked with a trembling voice. "Is it true that he killed... his father?" she added, her voice faltering under the weight of the question.
Jarek sighed deeply, nodding slowly.
"It's true," he said softly. "Nathan was blinded by anger when he found out that Richard Quirrell had attacked our companies and that you were precisely in that building."
Tears flowed more strongly from Suzanne's eyes upon learning that Nathan had gotten into trouble because of her, for not calling him to confirm that meeting and going to the company without hesitation.
"It's my fault," she sobbed, her hands trembling as she held her children. "It's my fault that Nathan is in this situation."
Jarek shook his head, his eyes full of a mix of compassion and determination.
"Don't say that, Suzanne. The blame lies with Richard. He won't cause any more harm where he is now."
These words filled Suzanne with immense relief, but the worry for Nathan still throbbed in her chest.
He had taken a man's life, even if he was a criminal, and she feared that the father of her children would have to pay with jail for it.
"Let's go see Nathan," Jarek said, as if reading her thoughts.
Suzanne nodded, feeling a spark of hope ignite within her. After a hot and restorative bath, they both headed to the police station.
The car ride was silent, filled with tension and anticipation. Suzanne looked out the window, watching the buildings and streets pass by, while her mind was full of thoughts and worries for Nathan.
Upon arrival, the police station loomed large, and Suzanne felt a knot in her stomach. Jarek helped her out of the car, and together they entered the building.
They were guided to a small visiting room, where they waited in silence.
When Nathan finally appeared, their eyes met, and Suzanne ran towards him, wrapping her arms around him.
“Nathan,” she whispered, her tears mingling with his. “I’m so sorry…”
Nathan held her tightly, his eyes filled with love and determination.
“Everything will be alright, Suzanne. I promise.”
Jarek watched the scene with a serious expression, but his eyes showed deep hope. He knew that together, they could overcome any obstacle and was willing to ensure that these two finally had their happy ending.
Nathan was overwhelmed with happiness to have Suzanne in his arms.
The sensation was so surreal, as if he were living in a dream he didn’t want to wake up from. However, the warmth of his wife's body confirmed that it wasn’t his imagination.
She was real and there, with tears in her eyes, hugging him as if there were no tomorrow.
The small, cold, and impersonal visiting room at the police station seemed to vanish around them. The only thing that mattered was Suzanne, there in his arms.
Nathan felt comforted and eager to leave that place and share a lifetime with her, though he knew there was still a way to go before he could be released.
“How are you? Are you alright? You look terrible,” Suzanne said with a broken voice, her eyes scanning his face with genuine concern.
Nathan smiled at her worry, an authentic smile he hadn’t shown in days. She was the only one capable of cheering him up, just like their babies.
“I’m better now that you’re here,” he said sincerely, causing Suzanne to blush.
“I missed you,” she murmured, biting her lip.
"I thought you were dead," Suzanne continued, her voice breaking again. "I couldn’t conceive of a world without you."
Nathan’s words struck Suzanne’s heart deeply. A lump formed in her throat as she longed to kiss him and embrace him, to be together again and be the happy family they had always dreamed of being.
They had faced too many obstacles in their lives, and it was time to have a happy moment.
Nathan moved towards her without hesitation. He gently cupped her cheek and leaned in until their breaths mingled. Their eyes, filled with love and hope, met and spoke without words.
Jarek, who had been watching silently, signaled to the guard. The guard nodded, leaving them alone in the small room.
Jarek also left, knowing that these two needed some time alone.
The door closed softly behind him, and silence enveloped Nathan and Suzanne. Finally, their lips met in a kiss full of longing and promises.
It was as if all the pain and uncertainty melted away in that moment, leaving them only with the love that had kept them together.
"We’ll get through this, Suzanne," Nathan whispered against her lips. "We will be happy. I promise."
Suzanne nodded, her tears mingling with a hopeful smile.
"I know, Nathan. I know. We are stronger than it seems."
Time seemed to stand still as they held each other, finding comfort and strength in their love.
Outside, the world kept turning, but inside that small room, only the two of them existed, promising each other a future filled with love and hope.
