Imperfection is the new perfection

Frank's jaw was touching the floor. Whatever he was carrying was now in a hundred fragments scattered around him. His astonishment as a self-proclaimed Nathan Sinclair expert was expected. He thought I had no chance of grabbing his attention, and I was kissing him in less than twenty-four hours.
"Uh, I," Frank began and continued to say something that sounded more like noises than words. That poor man was broken. "Uh, I am sorry for ruining your private moment, sir. I'll put bleach in my eyes to unsee this. Please order me to do that."
"I am not cruel," replied Nathan. "Go blind at your own will and stop gawking at us."
"Oh, God!" Frank closed his mouth and wiped the sweat off his forehead. "I better clean this up." He lowered himself to the ground, almost about to touch the sharp, broken glass with his bare hands.
"What are you doing?!" Nathan yelled. "Have you lost your mind somewhere?"
Frank stood up, realizing his mistake. "My apologies. I must be suffering from some brain condition, or maybe it's too overworked."
"Whatever it is, get yourself together because I have a task for you," Nathan spoke rudely.
"I am always at your service, sir," said Frank, straightening his posture as an obedient servant.
"Miss Walter here needs a new dress and look. Send her to my room after you do that. You better not disappoint me because I want her to look drop-dead gorgeous," Nathan ordered, smiling at me. He walked up to me, caressed my arm, and spoke in a breathy voice. "I'll be waiting for you in my room. You need to pass at least two tests to become my fiancé."
Nathan then walked away, leaving Frank and me in awkward silence.
"What are you?" Frank started as soon as we were alone. "Are you a goddess reincarnated into an ordinary woman? That's the only explanation for this."
I turned my eyes skywards. "No. I am pretty sure I am human. And yes, Nathan's sudden interest in me is shocking."
"Sweetheart, you have no idea about your powers." Frank crossed the broken glass and joined me close to the railing. "Two popular social media models had come to seduce Nathan Sinclair. I am not talking about regular pretty because their beauty belonged to the heavens. Even though I am gay, I couldn't stop admiring their gorgeousness. Why he rejected them and chose you is beyond me. Are you into black magic or voodoo?"
"No." I narrowed my eyes at him. Frank's words were becoming a bit insulting. "I accidentally threw his breakfast on the floor, and he offered me a chance to stay if I seduced him. I refused at first, but then he offered me again. So I couldn't turn him down again."
Frank dropped to the ground in such a rush that I jumped and screamed. I thought he had fainted, but I found him touching my feet instead. “You must teach me your ways. I have been trying to understand this man for so long. What you did in one day is extraordinary. I request you to impart some of your great wisdom to me.” He looked up, shaking my legs. “I don’t care if it’s dark magic you used. I wish to learn it. My morals died long ago, so I am going to hell, anyway.”
“What the hell is the matter with you?” I pushed Frank away. “I told you the entire thing. That is all that happened.” Telling him about the gangsters would be a mistake, so I wasn’t giving away the entire truth. The phone call, however, had little to do with Nathan’s sudden interest in me, as he had asked to be seduced by me once before that.
“That’s it?” Frank hopped back onto his feet. “Are you trying to say that he wants you because you rejected him? It can’t be that simple.”
I shrugged. “It seems to be. I not only rejected Nathan, but I also was rude to him a lot. He is like an infant who wants what he can’t have.”
“Exactly!” Frank restlessly shook his forefinger at my face. Nathan’s behavior had such an impact on that poor man’s life. Studying him was the biggest mission of his life. “You’re nothing special. He only wants a taste of forbidden fruit.”
“I beg your pardon? Are you implying he only wishes to hook up with me?” I raised my voice. “If that’s the case, you will be disappointed to know that he wishes to get engaged to me.”
Frank’s jaw fell open wider than before. “You must be kidding me! Or he must be kidding you. There is no way you two are getting engaged. That man doesn’t know what he wants for lunch. I am sure he’ll change his mind about this by evening.”
My confidence lowered. I forgot about Nathan’s mood swings. What if he changed his mind about me later? “I am afraid I didn’t consider that,” I said, chewing on my nails. “Has he done this before? Asking someone to get engaged to you is a big thing. I don’t suppose he would take this as lightly as picking his meal.”
“Only time will tell, my friend.” Frank patted my shoulder. “For now, let’s get you dressed in the sluttiest, yet classy, dress. So we at least have a chance of winning.”
“We?” I threw Frank’s hand off my shoulder. “So, you are on my side now? It has nothing to do with you, and I am pretty sure you dislike me or have a crush on him.”
“Oh, please.” Frank recoiled in disgust. “That man has tortured me since the moment I took this job. A toxic demon from hell is not my type. Besides, I want you to have him. Imagine the wealth and the lifestyle we’ll get from this odd union.”
“We? I am getting engaged to him, not you,” I reminded him.
“Come on.” Frank playfully punched my arm. “I will help you in every way possible to ensure Nathan goes through this engagement and the wedding. Would it hurt you to give me a million or two after marrying a billionaire?”
“I suppose not,” I answered.
“Great!” Frank’s excitement was over the moon. “Let’s shake on this. Amelia and Nathan forever.” He extended his hand, and I firmly shook it with a warm smile and a lot of hope.
