Chapter 18
"Good morning baby." Eric smiled.
This was the first time in a long while he had a nightmare but this time around, the nightmare was glaring like it was really happening to him.
Sometimes, he knew what he was dreaming about. Other times, he couldn't make out what the images were trying to tell him. This morning, it was the latter. It was all a blurry image but one thing he could make out of it was the amount of blood and death that seemed to fill every corner of his dream.
He couldn't explain the constant series of nightmare he was always having but he hoped it stopped soon.
"What's got you all worked up this morning." Alina smiled.
"Nothing... Just a nightmare" Eric smiled.
"Do you want to talk about it, I'm all ears?" Alina smiled.
"No, it's nothing serious, trust me" Eric said.
He didn't want to bother her with the details of his nightmare, he didn't want her to be worried which would no doubt leave him worried too.
"Okay, I'll be here whenever you want to talk about it", Alina said.
Alina noticed that he had been acting strange ever since they got back from the party the previous day. He wa acting weird which just left her worried.
"I'll take you on that soon. So baby, for our honeymoon, where do you want to go?" Eric smiled.
He stroked his mate's jet black hair and once again, he was greatful that she agreed to spend the rest of her life with him. Eric couldn't imagine what his life would be like without her in it. No doubt, he would be miserable but he knew he would get over it but the damages it could cost him was enough pain.
"I have a list of countries but I'll settle for Romania. I've always wanted to visit that country", she said.
As the managing director of the biggest oil company in the country and other investments scattered around the world, eric could afford an expense paid trip for him and his mate. He had a lot of investments and shares scattered around the world and when the handsome bachelor announced that he was getting married to his heart robe, so many heads turned as they each imagined who the lucky woman was.
"Romania? Okay love, Romania it is" Eric smiled.
"Wait? You're not kidding?", Alina said.
She sat up, her eyes bright and alive as she stared at her mate, trying to see if he was joking. From the expression on his face, she knew he was serious.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you", she gushed.
"Yes, I think you said that on the altar, then you said it on the night i found you and now, you're saying it now. By my count, you've said that a trillion times."Eric chuckled.
"Yes and I will never get tired of saying it. I love you Eric Carter and even if I die, I would never stop loving you", she smiled.
"I love you too honey but please don't say you're going to die. You're very young, we both are and we have a lot of years ahead of us." Eric said.
Alina smiled sadly as she rose up to her feet, tying a robe around her body. Eric stood up too, towering over her in his six foot frame. He could sense that something was wrong with the way her mood changed all of a sudden but try as he may, he couldn't understand what the cause was.
"Baby, talk to me. What's wrong?" Eric said.
"To be honest, it's nothing. I can't really point out what it is, I just have this sinking feeling that something terrible is about to happen", she said.
"Nothing is going to happen, trust me" Eric said.
He was prepared to protect her no matter what it took. She was his mate and it was his responsibility to take care of her.
"Promise me something Eric", she said.
"Anything my love" Eric said.
"Even in death, promise me that you'll still love me" Alina smiled.
Eric walked towards her, wrapping his hands over her waist. She leaned into him, breathing in his early morning scent. That was something she always loved about him, even in the morning he was still handsome.
"I promise you with everything I have and stand for. I will keep loving you even if death do us part", he vowed.
"That's all I needed to hear. Thank you", she smiled.
"Now, can we talk about something else? This death shit is making me feel uneasy" Eric chuckled.
"Sure, let's go look for something to eat", she chuckled.
They made their way downstairs, with Eric cracking his dry jokes. This was one of the things he liked about their growing relationship, this ease that seemed to radiate through and around them. He lived for it and he vowed to keep and cherish it for as long as he lived.
"Did you see what they said about me in one of the tabloids?" Alina said.
"No, you know I don't bother about all those stuffs" Eric said.
"I know but this is too juicy to pass. They said I'm not good for you and I'll dump you like I did to the rest of the guys" Alina sighed.
"Don't listen to them love, you're more than good for me" Eric said.
"But what if I'm not and they're right", she sighed.
Eric walked towards her, placing his cup of coffee on the counter top. He wanted to ease the worry away from her eyes and the perfect way to do that was by assuring her that she was good enough for him.
"They'll never be right because they don't know you like I do, you're smart and beautiful and above all, you love unconditionally" Eric said.
"Wow, when did you become a motivational speaker",she chuckled.
"Only for you my love, only for you" Eric smiled.
"That's better because if you say these words to another woman, I'll kill you", she laughed.
Eric placed his lips on hers, pouring all his love and affection into it. He was always his best whenever he was with her and with her, there was no room for pretending as he could bare all his worries to her.
"I'll be stopping by at the office later today to finish up on some things that's pending",Eric said.
"Okay. When are you booking the tickets or are we going with your plane?",she asked.
"My plane babe, I want all the privacy we could possibly get" Eric said.
"Sometimes, I just forget how rich you are", she smiled.
"This is my world baby and you're welcome. Prepare to be wowed love" Eric chuckled.
They worked in comfortable silence, preparing a sumptuous breakfast they devoured within minutes.Eric was blessed to have such a wonderful woman in his life and he vowed within himself that he would spend every day of his life, showing her how much he loved her.
"See you soon honey" Eric said.
He kissed her lightly on the lips before heading out of his mansion. Eric smiled, thinking about how complete his life was but deep down, he couldn't help the feeling that seemed to stay in his mind that something terrible and irreversible was about to occur.
