Chapter 19

Alina Martins woke up with a smile that fine Saturday morning. The source of her happiness was due to the fact that her mate, Eric would be celebrating his birthday that day and she was really excited for it.

She had everything planned out already, all she needed to do was put the final touches to the preparations and it was guaranteed to be a blast.

‘’Can’t wait to see the look on Eric’s face.’’ Alina murmured.

On some days, she had nightmares. On those days she had nightmares, she usually found herself thinking about how her life would turn out if eric left her. No doubt, she knew she would be miserable and what’s worse, really dejected about it.

Eric was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she prayed constantly that nothing would ever severe their love. He was her soulmate, the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and he had also made it known that he wanted the same.

Alina smiled, thinking back on the day she met Eric on the night of Augustus Frederick's attack. She had accepted immediately because there was really no reason to beat about the bush when she knew what her heart wanted.

Alina had the best time of her life by being his girlfriend and mate which was something she knew she wouldn’t find anywhere else.

Eric loved her which just made everything easier for her. He was going to be her soulmate and she knew nothing would stop it. She rose up from her bed, walking towards the bathroom to do her toilet business. She had a lot of things to prepare and if she wanted to begin with it, she had to start very early.

The previous day, Alina had talked to Eric's friends who were really supportive of them. They had given her list of things Eric enjoyed doing and eating. Alina discovered that they were similar in their likes and dislikes which just butteressed the point that they were meant to be.

The fates had already decided it and nothing could go wrong. Eric was due to arrive home by eight that day due to him taking his friend to his company.

When Alina was done in the bathroom, she made her way back to her room where her phone began ringing. She wasn’t expecting anyone’s call since she had canceled most of her classes the previous day.

Alina picked up her phone and discovered it was her friend Brittney,calling. Claire Peters had been her friend since way back highschool and that bond was still with them even up till now. They practically knew everything there is to know about each other.

‘’Hey babe, what’s up?’’ Kathie smiled.

She was happy to hear her voice after a short while of silence. Alina knew she was surprised when she suddenly announced to her that she was leaving with Eric who was her mate. Alina owed her some explanation and she knew it was coming sooner than later.

Alina was proud of what her friend had achieved, she deserved it after working so hard in school. Brittney was usually the brainiest out of all of them and it was no surprise to Alina when she got her recent job.

‘’Hi love, how are you doing?’’ Brittney said.

Alina could hear some background noise and she knew either Brittney was busy doing some laundry or she was simply cleaning. Asides being a brilliant bee in school. Alina was a neat freak. She hated anything associated with dirt and she always found a way to keep her surroundings clean.

‘’Wait, let me guess you’re cleaning?’’ Alina asked.

‘’You know me too well.’’ Brittney laughed.

‘’Of course, why wouldn’t i? I’m your best friend after all and it's just the same way you know me.’’ Alina smiled.

‘’Yes, I need to clean ASAP. I’m expecting some guests in a few hours and I have to make the house spotless. I haven’t heard from you in a while and so i got worried and decided to call.’’ Brittney said.

‘’You’re so sweet Brittney.’’ Alinasighed.

‘’Of course, that’s why you love me.’’ Brittney chuckled.

Alina told her all about her preparations for Eric's birthday party but she had a feeling that Brittney wasn’t in full support of it by her continued silence.

‘’Brittney. Is anything wrong?’’ Alina asked.

‘’I don’t mean to be a spoil sport but are you really sure that this Eric loves you?’’ Brittney asked.

Alina remained quiet for a while, staring into space. What Brittney said had her thinking about her future with Eric but still, she was convinced that Eric Carter loved her. He had said so countless times but right at that moment, Alina wondered if he was telling the truth.

‘’Yes Brittney, Eric loves me.’’ Alina said.

‘’I see. Alina, you know i love you right?’’ Brittney said.

‘’I know that Britney and I really don’t want you to get worried. I’m happy with Eric and i know he loves me.’’ Alina said.

‘’Okay, that's really good to hear. I really don’t want you to end up a sad broken mess if this doesn’t work out. I’ve seen how you love people Alina, you love them to a fault and i really don’t want anything that would destroy your happiness.’’ Brittney said.

She perfectly understood what Brittney was saying and Alina was deeply touched by her show of concern. It just meant that Brittney loved her and wouldn’t want to see her sad.

‘’Nothing will Britney, i’m sure of that.’’ Alina said.

She was convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Eric was for her and her alone. There was no way in hell he would break her heart after everything they had been through together as a couple.

‘’I’m just glad that you’re really convinced that this boy loves you. My friend is in love.’’ Brittney hooted.

Alina laughed, grinning from ear to ear. She was really relieved that she was in full support of this. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if she wasn't supporting this.

‘’So what’s up about you and i mean your love life.’’ Alina said.

Brittney had dated once in a while but it wasn’t really anything serious. Though she hated to admit it, she was a hopeless romantic who was easily swayed by love but yet, she always advised Alina on what to do.

‘’Let’s just say you’ll soon be surprised.’’ Brittney said.

‘’Alright then, i’m patiently waiting.’’ Alina smiled.

They talked some more before Alina cut off the line. Now, all she had to do was plan a perfect birthday for her boyfriend. Nothing could spoil this day, that much she knew.
