Chapter 5

Alina got back to her room, a tired mess. She had been out running with Laura who was insatiable especially when it came to exercise. Sometimes, Alina couldn't keep up with her and simply hoped that the big wolf would get tired easily and just give up hut she knew that waa like wishing for a unicorn. It was impossible. The only time the big wolf would resist running was if she was sick and too weak to do anything. Luckily for Alina, her roommate was in which just made her glad because finally, there would be someone she could talk to.

"hey babe." Britney said.

Britney waa a redhead, her hair usually shone in the morning light whenever she went out for a run. The only time the redhead went for a run was if Alina agreed to go with her. If not, she would remain in her room.

"hey darling. how are you?" Alina smiled.

She dumped her school bag on her bed, slumping on the bed a tired mess. Britney chuckled, tying her hair in a loose ponytail. Alina closed her eyes, silently conversing with her wolf.

"What?" Britney asked.

"what? oh no, I'm not talking to you. Sorry." Alina chuckled.

"okay, because it seemed like you were talking to me." Britney chuckled.

"what happened? I didn't see you in class today." Alina said.

She tied her hair in a neat bun, shedding off her clothes as she made her way towards the bathroom for a cool bath. She needed to get tge smell of sweat and wolf hair off her body. She knew Britney wouldn't be able to catch the scent because humans senses were dead to the werewolves scent. The fates had made it like that and Alina was glad it wss so. She couldn't begin to explain why wolf hair was stuck to her clothes.

"Well, I had other things to take care of." Britney said with a look of mischief in her eyes.

Alina didn't need to think about it twice. Britney had probably gone to her boyfriend's house and did some things Alina didn't even want to think about. She was like that and she had come to live with it.

"Who is it this time? Kevin or Tom?" Alina chuckled from the bathroom.

She sighed in bliss as the icy cold water hit her head. Britney had a retinue of men who was ready to do anything at the snap of her fingers. She had seen first hand how the human girl controlled men like they were toys.

"None of them." Britney grinned.

The gum she was chewing popped loudly in Alina's ears. She was irritated by it and was on the verge of lashing out but she knew she had to control her anger lest she reveals who she truly was. Britney could be a spoil sport but she wasn't stupid. She could easily pick up something that was odd and Alina wasn't in the mood to begin explaining what she was. It was best for all of them if she remained how she was.

"So who this time?"Alina asked, drying herself.

"Take a guess." Britney chuckled.

"You know I'm really bad at guessing." Alina laughed.

"Aww you're no fun. Just guess." Britney said.

"No idea." Alina said, stepping into the room.

"Well it's Derrick." Britney said.

Upon hearing that name, Alina stopped in her tracks. She knew that name quite alright. In fact, there was no one in the entire school that didn't know that name. Derrick Henshaw was the school's football captain. Resident fine boy and a big player. He changes girls like he changes his boxers which was on a regular basis. Alina didn't know what Britney saw in him but whatever it was, ut wouldn't last, that she eas sure of.

Laura scoffed within her and Alina shut her up. The wolf could be really loud at times, giving her away and this was something she didn't want happening. Alina stared st Britney like she had grown two heads.

"What? I like him and trust me, the sex is great." Britney chuckled.

"Britney! Are you really sure about this? You're my friend and i really don't want you to end up a sad broken mess. So are you really sure about this?" Alina asked.

She shrugged her pyjamas on, sitting on her bed as she watched Britney's eyes take on a slight hint of worry. Alina already knew what was on her mind since she had the ability to read people's minds. It was a perk she loved, it made her know what they were thinking which had helped her in more ways she could count.

"Yes Alina, I'm sure. I know you're worried about me and stuffs but you have no reason to. I'm completely fine with Derrick. Now, shall i gist you on what we did today." Britney grinned.

Alina quickly declined. She wasn't cut out for all the things Britney and her boyfriend did. She chuckled when she saw the look of hurt on her face. They talked about some other things before Britney left the room, no doubt heading towards Derrick's flat outside rhr campus.

"Be careful." Alina called out.

It was late though because Britney was already half wsy downstairs. Alina shut the door behind her aa she created a mind link with her friend who lived on the outskirts of town. Jasmine was the only other person who was just like Alina but where Alina had all three entities, Jasmine had one which was her wolf powers.

"Hey babe. how are you?" Alina said into the air.

Laura purred within her, ready to sleep and call it a day. Alina knew it eaa expected being that she had done a lot of running that day. The she-wolf slept soundly and soon, Alina was left alone to talk to her friend.

"Darling, I'm afraid I'm not so good." Jasmine said.

Alina could hesr several clicks from Jasmine's keyboard which just told her thst Jasmine was hard at work. Alina tried breaching into her mind to see what she could find but there was nothing. Unlike the other humans, it wasn't so easy for her to breach into Jasmine's mind. She wss a werewolf just like her and it wasn't as easy as the humans.

"What's wrong?"Alina asked.

"Augustus Frederick just struck." Jasmine said.
