Chapter 20

"Why don't you want me to go with them?" Harold asked Emily and the room went silent, as they all waited to hear her respond. she was so calm and put together. Seeing her this unsettled was not a good sight at all.
Emily gulped and turned to the door. "Forget about it. It isn't important. I will lead you out to a safe space myself. "
"And you expect me to stay behind while you leave?" She must be crazy to think Harold would stay back. It was unimaginable. He wanted to be out by all means and he got the opportunity to be out there to find the one he searched for and she thought she was going to make him stay? It made zero sense!
Emily pulled the lever for the door lock and turned back to look at Harold, "we are going to be in a lot more trouble than just Dearkson if we do this..." She whispered.
"And I don't give a fuck! I have lived with Dearkson's crazy rules for years... I can handle a few witches."
Emily nodded and pulled the door open.
The guards were all looking like they could burst through the door at any time if she didn't open the door in good time.
"They are ready to leave." She told them and Harold noticed the physical relief on their faces.
They stepped aside creating a pathway and Emily called out the three detectives. "Come let us go."
Jimmy, Mike, and Thompson followed slowly behind her and Harold was at the rear.
They started walking to the border and the guards followed behind them.
If they were going to all move-out and according to her it was taboo for a princess to move out without being married, Harold needed to know how they would be getting rid of the guards for they wouldn't let their princess leave, no matter what. Especially with some humans.
Harold moved from his position at the back to where Emily moved.
"How do you propose we do this?" Harold asked her.
She turned her head to his side and smiled, "I still think you should stay. You will understand it much better soon."
"That makes no sense. I am not staying and that's final. If anyone should stay, it should be you. Not me. " Harold hissed.
"Now I am not even here to argue about anything. I want to know how you plan to evade the guards if we are doing this."
Normally he shouldn't even care about things like this but his Alpha instinct would not let him leave a man or a woman behind no matter what.
"Well, you will have to keep up." She whispered staring straight ahead. She was going to move out first and the humans would follow. As long as she was out, they would throw the humans out after her. But if they wasted any more time, they would bundle her back to the palace at her mother's command. Harold would also have to do the same
But they didn't want him to leave. If he left she would lose him.
As they walked further, Harold started sensing something he couldn't place his fingers on. His wolf became restless like it was expecting something. Yet, he didn't know what it was.
They passed the car wreck and he picked up the scent of wolves. He looked at Emily but she was staring straight into the distance and she didn't seem phased by the new scent at all.
Harold was walking towards her to warn her when he noticed she had stopped walking. He looked ahead and he stopped too.
The detectives also stopped.
There was a black mark at the point right after the invisible wall.
"Move ahead!" The guards barked.
Jimmy took the first step and started walking but the closer he got, the more he could see cars ahead. Without being told, he knew Carter must be out there.
"What are we going to do now?" Thompson whispered beside him.
"This is the time we put our trust in that Harold guy..." Mike replied from his side.
They were two meters away from the dark mark when a threatening blood-curdling howl filled the air and they stopped.
**

"Who is Carter?" Emily asked, wondering why Harold had a frown on his face and Logan looked like he could slap someone.
"That's Dearkson's, right-hand man...." Logan responded.
Emily turned just in time to watch in the distance, right after the mark was people. They were mostly dressed in white only a few wore jeans like normal people.
"Can you guys see that?" She whispered pointing at the distance.
"Kyle is here too..." Harold said through clenched teeth.
Logan turned from where Emily was pointing to where Harold also pointed out and he couldn't see any of them.
"I can't see the people you speak if," Logan told Sofia.
"They are right there!" She insisted, turning to stare at Logan. "You can't see them?"
"No!"
"I think Kyle has picked up our scents..." Harold said already flexing his muscles.
Logan was already panicking for there was no way they could fight off twelve men on their own except if Emily was probably going to use her powers. But then that might make her faint and then it would be left down to him and Harold.
"Do you think we can turn back now?" Logan suggested.
As they weighed their options, a blood-curdling howl filled the air and Kyle started running toward them. There was no turning back now.
"Too late!" Harold said, getting on his feet. His bones started snapping as he also released a growl from deep within his core.
In seconds he changed into his wolf and he jumped protectively in front of them.
Logan looked around helplessly as the remaining eleven men noticed Kyle's direction and they also started their transformation.
There was no way they were going to survive this.
Kyle changed completely and jumped in front of Harold, howling in battle. Harold didn't waste any more time before he started scratching him like the renowned assassin he was.
This made everyone cause as they all watched the crash happen in front of their eyes. The men in the city of fangs had prayed for a day like these to come. A day when the most ruthless assassin and the ruthless guess would fight.
Harold slapped Kyle's wolf across the face with his sharp claws and Kyle pushed him roughly back.
This caused the rest of them to jump back to reality. They turned to Emily and Logan.
They left Kyle and Harold to their fight and they focused on Emily and Logan.
A bright light suddenly sparkled from the mark ahead of them and they all turned.
A Lady with white hair emerged out of the spark and she held her hands in the air.
Logan stared in shock as she welded lightning from the sky like she was the goddess herself. She pulled it as if dancing and when she released it, it fell on all the men around them.
The men fell to the ground and they started convulsing as if they were being electrocuted.
Emily looked at Logan and before he could understand what she tried to say, she jumped into the air. When she dropped back to the ground. She was in her wolf form and she jumped on Kyle's wolf, tearing him away from Harold.
Her wolf howled, causing the ground to shake and tremble. The convulsing men on the ground ran to their cars and took off. That was when Logan noticed, a car already moving in the distance.
Kyle fell to the ground and Harold's wolf jumped on top of him, he was about to plunge his claws deep into his chest when Emily's Wolf pushed him off.
Kyle used the opportunity to run away from the scene.
Emily's wolf gave one more powerful ground shaking howl before its collapse to the ground, changing instantly to her human form.
Logan immediately took off his shirt and ran to her side. He covered her up and turned to Harold who was baring his teeth at the incoming people.
Logan looked up and found three men staring at him with their mouths on the floor.
"Logan!"
He turned to the familiar voice and was shocked to find his Alpha, looking back at him.
