Chapter 22

"You will get to know her very soon. Remember what I always tell you to do if anything happens to me, you do remember right?"
Little Harold frowned as he tried to not say something his father would not like. He hated that conversation of when 'I am no more but his father sang it to him like music.
"Harold, use your words!" His father scolded
"I know what you told me..." The little boy trailed.
"And what is that I always say?"
Harold thought for a while, squeezing his eyes tighter. He never liked the conversation, so remembering the exacts was more difficult than finishing a plate of vegetables.
"Harold..." His father trailed when he saw that Daniel could not remember what he thought of him.
"I remember father," Harold jumped, his eyes clearing out. "You always say I should go to the basement door whenever you were gone and I should take my sister far away!" Harold said getting the words right.
"But Father, why can't I see her now?" Little Harold whines.
"Just do as I say. It is too dangerous for her to be out here. You need to help her out. You are her catalysts and she is your controller. You will feel better each time you are close to her. But not now."
Those were the instructions given to him by his father. And he planned to obey it to the last letter. But hell broke loose the day they executed his father for a crime he didn't commit. Harold went crazy. He didn't spare anyone in his circle. Everyone around him was putting their lives in danger because he wanted to paint the whole town red with his claws. That was when the council arrested him. He allowed them to because he was tired. He never fought back. He was neutralized and his demons grew stronger. He never went back there to check for his sister because he never got the chance until he heard the council had invaded his father's house and they had found Emily. They dragged her out and took her for questioning. If not for Jonathan Martin, they would have killed the confused teenager too.
Harold was shocked when he came out through the corridors and peeped through the holes. When he saw her face, he didn't need to be told that it was his sister he was looking at. He and Emily were twins. They complimented each other and their resemblance was undeniable but no one paid attention to the psychopathic boy on the grounds.
When they tried to harm her, he got angry again and almost injured the entire board before he was finally thrown in their special reform prison. He tried to escape but he was stuck. He couldn't leave. Angry and devastated, Harold had decided to stay in the prison and allow them to think they have had him. He did everything they told him for he knew his sister wasn't dead. She was alone and he would find her.
When Jonathan Martin came to inform him about her resurfacing, he made sure he was aware of the fact that they wanted to send Damon and also an assassin. Luck shone on him and he was selected.
Now, he had her in his arms yet, she was unmoving. He turned to stare into her face and he felt her mice. Emily fluttered her eyes and Harold's heart flew to his chest.
"Emily! Can you hear me?" He called. "Please, if you can hear me Emily move your hand for me. Give me a sign that you are alright, please, " Harold begged to clutch her hands.
Then, just when he was starting to lose hope. Emily hoped her eyes.
"Hey," she smiled weakly.
Her eyes were dark and the white side of her eyes was very clear like a person suffering from a lack of water.
Harold quickly jumped off the bed and went to search through their bags for his food. "You need to drink lots of water!" He said as he ran to the spot where he had kept the food.
Emily watched him with heavy eyes. She felt like she had been sleeping for months non-stop. Her hands were heavy and she couldn't move them. She tried to remember how she got to the situation and remembered how she had reacted when Harold tried to kill Logan. As soon as the idea came to her mind, Emily sat up. She regained control of her movements in the panic. She looked around the cave and she couldn't find a trace of Logan. Her eyes moved back to Harold and returned to find Logan.
Her heart was beating so fast, her body complained. She thought of the worst scenario but refused to dwell on it.
Harold couldn't kill Logan. She warned him to let the young man go free. Or was he back at his place?
Wheee! Maybe Harold didn't kill Logan Afterall. The guy was fun to listen to and he technically didn't do anything wrong he didn't deserve to die
"Harold, where is Logan?" She questioned as soon Harold Harold got back to the bed and offered her water.
"He is fine-" Harold didn't finish up his statement when Logan walked into the cave.
"Emily! You are awake! Ah! Thank Goodness at least one I know I won't die now. I feared if you didn't wake up your-"
"Logan!" Harold yelled in shock and Logan swallowed the words he was going to say.
Logan was about to say that they were siblings forgetting that Harold had warned him not to mention it. He gave Harold an apologetic smile and turned his attention back to Emily.
"How are you feeling now?" Logan asked.
"I am fine, thanks." She answered.
Emily had a blush creeping up her cheeks. She had heard Logan the first time. He wanted to say something and he had stopped when Harold yelled at him. She remembered the conversations had with Logan before they walked to the cave. Was Harold her mate?
Was he feeling the way she was feeling?
"You should try to eat something," Logan added bombarding her with suggestions and questions.
As if on the remote control. Harold runs deeper into the cave and returns with a bowl of canned food. He walked to the bed and offered Emily the food.
Emily took it gratefully and started sipping the soup slowly. She didn't want to burn her tongue, so she took her time.
"Can I talk to you outside for a minute?" Harold demanded from Logan.
Logan nodded and the both of them started for the door. "Emily, we'll be back." He whispered to her. The meal she was eating was so good in her mouth it maybe it was the fact that she hadn't taken any tangible food the day before. She couldn't tell if it was just hunger or it was that good. She nodded acknowledging their words. As long as he didn't kill him, she had no problem where he took him.
Harold and Logan walked to the side of the cave. Logan wondered what Harold wanted to talk to him about. On the side, he also feared Harold wanted to kill him, but he liked to believe that they had grown to a point where he could at least say with some confidence that they were acquaintances.
"I don't want you mentioning our relationship to her!" Harold snapped as soon as he was sure they were far enough away from Emily.
Logan raised his brows questioning him. What was he talking about now?
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, don't tell her we are related, okay?" Harold said.
Logan still found it strange. Especially because Emily thought Harold was her mate, meanwhile he was her brother. Logan didn't want to be there, the day she would find out. Because she was going to live her mind. But he loved his head and he didn't want to have any problems with the city if fangs hippest criminal, so he accepted the rule of silence.
"Okay, fine I won't. If that's what you want." He shrugged.
