Chapter 50

He was seated in the shower room. He had placed a chair there earlier so she would be able to wash his hair while he was seated. Gabriel tried as much as possible to clear his mind so he could enjoy the experience. He didn’t want to think of anything else other than Lori’s hands in his hair.

He wanted at least a few moments of peace, love and ultimate quiet.

Lori brought out the shampoo and conditioner from the bathroom cabinet. She had changed into shorts and a tank top to minimize water getting on her clothes and she had tied her hair in a braid to get it out of the way.

In the shower room, she set the water temperature to warm and placed the shower head over his hair. The blood washed away and Lori watched as the blood and the water disappeared down the drain. She let the water wet every strand of his hair before dropping the shower head and lathering his hair with the shampoo.

She worked her way through this hair slowly, her fingers slowly massaging his scalp. Gabriel’s eyes were closed and he seemed to be enjoying every moment because he was moaning slightly.

She worked her way from the roots to the ends of his hair and took her time in every section, massaging and gently rubbing her palms against the hair. She did it for longer, mostly because she was enjoying the reaction she was getting out of him.

And he looked so peaceful. With eyes his closed and from the angle he was in she didn’t know he had such long feminine lashes.

He was beautiful, in a way that made her stomach do flip flops and she was somehow relieved that he looked so peaceful and less worried while she washed his hair.

Being an alpha, a father and all must take a great toll on him everyday. Besides, he spent an ungodly amount of time at work. He was a busy man, with a busy life and he didn’t have that much time to just sit back and relax.

She washed his hair, washing away the shampoo and soapiness before lathering it again with conditioner.

She worked the conditioner even longer than she had worked the shampoo and when she was finally satisfied she washed it over and wrapped gently cleaned off the excess water with a clean towel.

Gabriel finally opened his eyes and smiled at her. He looked a little bit lighter. A little less stressed.

“Thank you.“

He whispered and she shrugged.

“Anytime.“

Gabriel sighed.

“Now… I must go downstairs before Draco blows a fuse. I believe he has been waiting for me for quite a while.“

“Draco’s here?!”

She asked and he nodded.

“Yes. I can smell him. And I heard when he was talking to Elliot. He was quite determined to come up here and talk to me.”

Lori sighed.

“Let me guess, super hearing and super smell?!”

She asked and he nodded.

“You got it.”

He stood up and shook his head then turned to Lori.

“You should stay here. Get a little more sleep, I’d be talking to Draco for a while.”

Lori nodded.

“Okay.”

She stood on her tippy toes and shyly gave him a kiss on his cheeks. Gabriel grabbed her and kissed her lips instead.

“I’ll be back.“

He promised as he kissed the top of her head and left the bathroom.

Lori watched him go and smiled.

Wow.

She was dating a werewolf.

A real life werewolf.

“Alpha! Are you hurt?!”

Draco asked as he rushed towards Gabriel, almost tripping in the process. Gabriel resisted the urge to chuckle. The thought of a huge man like Draco almost tripping was funny to think about.

Gabriel shrugged.

“I’m fine. Barely a scratch.”

He said as he bared his arms and legs for Draco to see. Draco’s eyes raked over his alpha, his eyes scanning for injuries.

“The wolf I fought… she was experienced but stupid. She shouldn’t have gone up against me.”

“Her?”

“Have any idea who she is?”

He asked and Gabriel nodded.

“I think it’s Vara.“

He said as he walked towards the living room, his staff had left, but he could tell they were there moments ago. He looked outside the window and saw that the cleanup was almost done.

Good. He didn’t want Lori to wake up to the gruesome sight of blood in the morning.

“Vara?! Sabine’s beta?”

Gabriel nodded.

“Yes. The same one.”

“Now, why Sabine would send Vara and a couple of reject wolves to me is what I don’t understand. It seems like suicide at the very least.”

Draco sighed.

“Then it must mean she was the one that killed Tony. How else would she get this location?”

Gabriel nodded.

“Yes. You’re right. But it still doesn’t make sense why she would boldly attack me.”

“I won my case against her. She was given a clear order to stand down.”

“She’s stupid to even think about messing with me.”

Gabriel’s blood was boiling at the thought of it alone. It just didn’t make sense!

Sabine?! Against him? It was laughable. And honestly annoying to think that he couldn’t even get a worthy opponent.

He would crush her. Her and her puny little pack.

And after what she just did, there would be no mercy for her.

“Do you think Vara was acting alone?“

Draco asked and Gabriel shook his head. No. Vara was not that dumb, besides Vara was loyal to Sabine. Extremely loyal, she wouldn’t do anything that didn’t have her alpha’s stamp on it.

“My guess is that they found out about Lori and want to use her against me.“

“I wouldn’t put it past them. Poor Tony, after he spilled everything to them, they still ended up killing him and his mate.”

He thought as he stared out the window.

“I managed to find his daughter. I took her to her grandmother’s and broke the news to her.”

Gabriel nodded.

“Make sure they’re well taken care of Draco.”

Draco nodded.

“On to more pressing matters, this location is compromised… we need to move you out of here now.”

Gabriel nodded.

“I know. We’ll leave daybreak.”

Draco nodded in agreement.

“Which of the houses should I prepare?”

“Somewhere close to work. Maybe that penthouse I own.”

Draco shifted on his feet. The penthouse was small… it wouldn’t accommodate them all.

“But the penthouse… compared to this house it’s…”

“Small?”

Gabriel completed his statement for him.

“I know. It’s small.”

“Move the staff to a safe house. I’ll assume they’re life is in danger now that Sabine probably knows about all of them. They won’t be coming with us.”

Draco nodded.

“And your cousin? Elliot?”

Oh he didn’t forget Elliot. He would have to keep Elliot close too, to keep an eye on him and to also make sure he never meets the same fate.

“Get him an apartment in the same building as our penthouse.”

“I want to keep him close. But not too close.”

He added and Draco nodded.

“Okay.”

“Is that all? If it is, I’d like to retire for bed. I think we have a lot to do when the day breaks.”

“There’s one more thing alpha…”

Oh gods. What was it now?

He thought as he hid his visible annoyance.

“What is it?”

“Remember that job you gave me ages ago? That one you wanted me to work on personally?”

Gabriel nodded.

Of course he remembered.

He had been waiting with bated breath for when Draco would give him a favorable update.

“Yes. We caught him. We managed to catch the criminal.”

“You caught Justin one?!”

He asked and Draco sighed.

“Unfortunately the brother escaped. He was too sneaky. But we have the man in our custody. He’s not going to be able to leave anytime soon…”

After the incident where Lori’s abusers had broken into her home and tried to hurt her, Gabriel had sworn to make sure they never bothered her again. So he gave Draco the task of searching for them. It wasn’t an easy task, since the two men not only did not live in the same state they were also part of a drug gang that was actively running away from the FBI and the cops.

So it had taken a little longer than usual to find them… but Draco did.

He wanted him to find the two of them, but Asher would do. At least for the moment. Asher was also the main person he wanted…
He had thought about how he would torture him slowly for weeks and weeks on end.

“Intensify the search for the other one. I don’t want him getting away.”

Draco shook his head.

“Oh I can promise you he won’t.”

They had to leave for their safety. That was what Gabriel told her. Tony was kidnapped to reveal their location and now that they knew where they lived, no amount of security would ever make it safe for them to live again. At least not until the battle was over.

The staff helped them pack, there was a lot to pack. Emilia’s things being the most luggage.

She was going to miss the house, she had grown so attached to it ever since she started working there. She had made her best and fondest memories in the house.

But it wasn’t safe for them anymore. The location was compromised and Gabriel wasn’t about to take his chances.

It also meant they wouldn’t live with the staff anymore, or even Elliot. From what Gabriel told her the penthouse they were moving to wouldn’t be able to accommodate all four of them, besides he believed that they needed their privacy and Elliot needed to move too.

It was sad. She was going to miss them all so much. She couldn’t even imagine Grace’s reaction when she finally came to work and found out about all that had happened.

The staff promised to keep her in the loop. They would stay a couple of days to do a thorough clean up before finally closing the house.
Sadly they wouldn’t also know their new location.

Lori was nevertheless tired, she barely got enough sleep and she would have to do a lot of unpacking all by herself in their new place since they would have no staff.

But at least they’d be together.

Gabriel and Emilia.

As she took one last look at the house before entering the car she smiled a little.

It had given her some of her best memories. Provided her a safe haven. For a while she had started to consider it as her home, but now she knew… home wasn’t a place, home wasn’t subject to a particular location.

Growing up an orphan, she was used to being tossed around, the constant moving around was basically all that she ever knew, even when she moved in with the Wyatts it had never felt permanent. It only felt temporary, like a quick fix.

Like every other place she had been in when she was on the run from Asher and her brother.

But now she had finally found a permanent home.

Home was where Gabriel and Emilia were.

And now, looking at them both in the car waiting for her, she knew that she wouldn’t have it any other way.

And she wouldn’t trade what she had with them for anything.

The Alpha’s Nanny.
