Chapter 51

He was not prepared. No, not for this kind of punishment. When Asher had been snatched off the streets by some freakishly strong men he knew nothing about, he assumed it was some drug lord whom he owed money.
Wrong. He was totally wrong.

He didn’t know how long he had been in the dark stuffy room he was in but he had not seen anyone for what he assumed would be days. They didn’t even take him outside to relieve himself. When he wanted to he had no choice but to relive himself on his body.

The smell had clung to his skin like a parasite and his jeans remained damp.

What did they want from him?!

He had no idea. They didn’t say a word to him.

They had tied him up and left, opening the door only to slip him food.

Even when they brought in his food it was a struggle for him to eat with his hands and legs tied.

He had to crawl all the way to the plate of food and water just to eat and managed to make a mess every time. The floor had droppings of rotten food. And he was only fed three times.

That was the least of his worries though.

He couldn’t get rid of the overwhelming fear that enveloped him.

That made him think whoever captured him was torturing him slow and waiting for him to die.

But why?!

He had gone over a list of his enemies and he couldn’t really think of who would have the time and the resources to do such to him.

Although physical pain was not inflicted on him yet, he discovered what an incredible burden mental pain would add to his suffering, how a dark fog slowly crept over his consciousness, trying to rob him of his remaining power of reasoning.

He was slowly losing consciousness again, his eyes were closing… he had been slipping in and out of consciousness ever since he was brought in.

His strength was failing him, he had expended too much energy on his first day struggling. Struggling hard to no avail to loosen the ropes that tied him but they had only gotten much more tighter and dug into his skin and left angry red marks. The room was empty, nothing but cold hard concrete and a window too high up to reach.

He had searched for a means of escape but found none.

He was served with a plastic plate and cup, no cutlery. Not even a fork, it wasn’t like he could eat with his hands anyways, they were tied to his back and he was already slowly starting to lose feeling in his limbs.

Just as he was about to fall into another troubled and uncomfortable bout of sleep, he heard a set of dragging footsteps.

Someone was coming towards him.

Was it to offer food?

He didn’t know… he didn’t know what day it was or if it was time to offer him food, in the little boxed room he was in, time was a concept he had no idea of. He couldn’t tell what day it was or what time it was.

The footsteps stopped and he dropped his head low, giving up hope that someone was coming to him. Or for him.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of a key being inserted into the door and then the door being opened.

He slowly raised his head.

No. This was no food delivery.

The man in front of him was familiar.

Asher had seen him before even though half of his face was hidden in the shadows.

The man had a strong masculine build, tall and he looked impeccable in the tailored dark blue suit that he donned. He walked forward, slowly, teasingly, till Asher could see all of him.

There was a smirk on his handsome face. Piercing blue eyes, a strong jawline and lips curved in a half smile. Yes, Asher had seen him before.

With Lori.

What the man wanted with him was what he did not know. Or understand.

“Do you remember me?“

He asked. His voice was crisp and cool, all warmth drained by lack of compassion. Asher gulped. His throat was dry and he was parched but he still managed to give an answer.

“Yes.”

He croaked.

The man didn’t move, he only gave a slight nod.

“Good.”

“What do you want from me?”

Asher finally asked. He couldn’t fathom why the man would capture him. Why? If he was the one who captured him what did he want with him?

Did Lori tell him to capture him? Was she behind this?

He wondered as he shook his head.

The man sniffed the air and scrunched his nose.

“You’re covered in your own filth.”

He spat out, disgust evident in his features.

Asher managed to scoff.

“This isn’t exactly a five star resort.”

He retorted.

The man simply raised his eyebrow.

“You’re right. It isn’t.”

“What do you want with me?!”

Asher asked again.

The man paced around the room.

“What do you think I want from you?”

He asked as he looked at Asher. Apart from wallowing in his own filth and looking deranged, his wolves had not touched him, just like he had instructed them not to.

But now, seeing him, standing in front of him after all that he had done to Lori, Gabriel was thinking of more creative ways to punish him.

“I don’t know…. I’m thinking this has to do with Lori… whatever she told you I did..”

“It’s not true… I promise you… that babe’s a real bitch.”

Gabriel froze, slightly turning.

“What did you just say?”

He asked calmly.

Asher hesitated.

He shook his head vehemently.

Gabriel stood in front of him.

“I asked you a question...”

He said again, as calmly as he could muster.

Asher narrowed his eyes at him.

“What the fuck did you think I said?! I said Lori’s a real bitch!”

In the blink of an eye, Gabriel’s fist connected with Asher’s face. It was so fast that Asher didn’t have the time to duck, by the time the full impact of Gabriel’s punch slammed into his face, Asher doubled over spitting blood and teeth.

He started to shake nervously, pain racked his face.

He stood up from his chair and took several steps back, putting enough distance between he and the man.

“Please…. Please…”

He begged and Gabriel tilted his head.

“Please what?!”

He asked and Asher groaned as he pulled himself to his feet.

“What do you want from me?!”

He grunted out. Every word was a struggle to get out, he had never been punched that hard and be didn’t even know it was physically possible for a punch to cause so much pain.

“Just kill me already! If that’s what you want… please…”

Gabriel scoffed.

So soon?! He had not even started yet.

He was still contemplating how he wanted to torture him and he wanted to die already?!?!

“Kill you?! So soon?!”

“Oh Oh death is too good of a punishment for you.”

“I intend to draw out this punishment for as long as I wish.”

With that, he walked out of the room, slamming the door firmly behind him.

“A call.”

Draco said as he handed Gabriel’s his phone the minute he walked out of the room where Asher was being held.

God the room smelled putrid! Gabriel’s delicate nose was glad when he finally left the room and got some fresh air.

It smelled horrible in there, but he didn’t care much for the person who was in the room. Asher deserved every bit of discomfort that was coming to him.

When the time was right he would let Lori know, let her know that he had her abuser and he would gladly kill him for her if she wanted him to, but in the meantime, he would like to mete out his own brand of punishment and torture before letting her know.

Perhaps a few weeks in solitary confinement and a few days in unending torture to completely destroy him… mentally and physically.

“From Lori?”

He asked eagerly and Draco shook his head.

“No. Kate. Kate Caddel.”

Gabriel rolled his eyes.

“Now what does she want?”

Draco shrugged.

“She said she’s waiting for you at your office.”

“Okay then. Tell her I’m on my way.“

*********************

“It’s been three days… no word from Vara… or the men she sent out.”

Sabine said as she took another puff of her cigarette. She was worried sick. Ever since Vara had left she had felt this otherworldly feeling, like a part of her had been taken from her… like she was missing something that used to be there before.

It could only mean one thing, or two... either Vara did not survive the mission or she had somehow severed their bond.

There was a bond between the beta and her alpha, one that was common between most beta and alphas. The stronger the relationship between the two, the stronger the bond was. And Vara, well, Vara was all that Sabine had.

Vara had been at Sabine’s side most of her life, even before she became alpha. There was no way… no possible way that she could be dead.

Lyle was lying on her sofa, flipping the pages of a fashion magazine, he didn’t look bothered. Not even the slightest bit.

Sabine was sick of him.

He had been like that for three days, ever since the mission and she was starting to despise him for it.

He looked up from his magazine.

“Yea I think you should start looking for a new beta. I don’t think she’s coming back.”

Sabine groaned.

“This is whole your fault!!! I said it… this whole plan was so fucking rushed!”

Lyle raised an eyebrow.

He didn’t remember her saying anything to oppose them.
Or did she?

He couldn’t really remember, he had also been doing some thinking of his own. How best to hit his cousin where it hurt the most.

“This was only a trial… there was already a fifty fifty chance that it wouldn’t have worked anyways.”

Sabine scoffed.

“A trial?! Do you know how many men I’ve lost?! Who I’ve lost?!”

Lyle shrugged.

“They were rogue wolves. Weren’t they?”

“You hired them.”

Sabine laughed manically, she paced around the room
angrily.

“And so?! I hired them with my fucking money!!! And Vara? Vara’s gone too!”

“And you’re just sitting here and chilling on my sofa!! Relaxing like nothing is happening!”

Lyle sat up, he rolled his eyes.

Oh she was being too dramatic, but he knew better than to tell her that, or let her worry too much. He had to somehow allay her fears.
Let her know that he was on her side and he had a plan.

Lyle stood up slowly.

“I already have another plan in motion.”

He lied smoothly. Technically, he kind of did…. If he could just find his brother.. then things might be a lot easier for him.

He just had to reach out to his brother first.

“What is it?”

She asked eagerly, rushing to his side.

Lyle smiled. A charming smile.

He placed a hand on Sabine’s shoulder, another on her cheek.

“First, I want you to relax…”

He said in a soft, silky and seductive voice.

“All this stress…”

His hand slowly trailed to her neck, his fingers slightly teasing the nape of her neck, Sabine leaned into his touch.

“It’s not good for you…”

He repositioned his other hand to her waist and drew her closer to him in one swift moment. Then, he leaned in, his lips close to her ear.

“Why don’t you let me take care of you…”

He said as he gently nibbled on her ear, Sabine felt weak in the knees and collapsed into him.

Lyle smirked as he drew her closer to him.

Oh he had her just where he wanted her.
The Alpha’s Nanny.
