Chapter 57

Gabriel barged into Elliot’s apartment, breaking the door in the process. Elliot jumped up from the sofa he was sitting.

Startled and surprised.

He looked at Gabriel and his now broken door.

“What’s going on?!”

He asked.

Did they have another intruder? Was someone trying to get them?

“Elliot…”

Gabriel’s voice was surprisingly calm. But he was raging underneath his cool exterior.

“Yes?”

“I’m going to ask you some questions. And I need you to answer them completely honestly. Or else… we will have problems.”

He said.

During that moment, Draco ran into the room too, he had tried to catch up with Gabriel as fast as he could. Just so Gabriel wouldn’t cause a scene.

He met the door broken and managed to close it a little, to give them some privacy. Gabriel and Elliot were having a stare down.

The tension in the room was thick enough to suffocate. Elliot looked nervous, his eyes darting around, his hand slightly shaky.

“Elliot… is Lyle alive?”

He asked and Elliot visibly paled.

For Gabriel to ask him, he knew… and for him to know… something had gone terribly wrong.

He no longer needed to lie, or had a use for it. If he didn’t come clean… he could face even worse punishment.

“Yes.”

Elliot choked out as he collapsed on the nearest sofa. He ran his hands through his hair, his hands shaking with fear. Gabriel would kill him. Rightfully so too, because he shouldn’t have kept such a news from his alpha.

Draco’s jaw dropped, his hands reaching out to his phone in his back pocket, if Lyle was alive, he had to make a few calls.

Scratch that, he had to make a lot of calls, he thought as he disappeared into a corridor, leaving Gabriel and Elliot to face off.

Gabriel sighed, a deep deep sigh. His expression gave away nothing and the only thing that showed his discomfort was his clenched fists.

“How long have you known?”

He asked and Elliot sighed.

“For a long time.”

“And you kept it from me?!”

Elliot shook his head.

“Not intentionally… Lyle told me he wasn’t going to cause trouble… he told me that he didn’t want revenge… he just wanted to live a normal life..”

“And you believed that?!”

Gabriel asked as he scoffed.

“What did you want me to do? He’s my brother!”

He exclaimed.

Gabriel didn’t even flinch at his raised tone.

“What did you tell him?! What did you tell him
about us? Does he know where we live?!”

“Nothing! I didn’t tell him anything!”

Elliot exclaimed.

Gabriel listened to his heartbeat… he wasn’t lying. But he still didn’t believe him.

“Draco.”

Gabriel called and Draco hurried out of the corridor where he was in the middle of a call.

“Yes?!”

He asked eagerly and Gabriel pointed to Elliot.

“Draco, make sure that you personally escort Elliot to DC.”

“Inform his mother that he's now placed on mandatory house arrest. He cannot leave the house or go anywhere.. until I say so....”

Elliot stood up from the sofa, his eyes rimmed red and his heart beating loudly in his chest, Gabriel could hear it, how loud his chest was. Was he scared or anxious? He couldn’t tell, Elliot was giving too much emotions for him to read.

“That's bullshit!!!”

Gabriel gave him a pointed look at his raised voice, Elliot’s stance faltered a little and his arms slacked.
He didn’t want to go. He couldn’t make him go. He had left DC for a reason, he couldn’t stand his mother.

He liked the freedom that came with him being with Gabriel. He wasn’t just going to drop everything and leave.

“You can't just put me on house arrest.”

“I can and I will.”

Gabriel voice was low and deadly. Final.

Elliot shook his head vehemently.

“I won't. I won't go.”

Gabriel scoffed, he folded his arms and glared at him.

“Would you rather denounce yourself as a member of my pack then?”

The silence that followed after his question was deadly, even Draco paused, he wanted to interfere but he couldn’t, as much as he would love to. Not until Gabriel had cooled down.

Gabriel’s anger was deadly. That quiet rage that could quickly turn destructive and brutal in the blink of an eye. The less he interfered the better.

“Would you go rogue like your brother for going against his alpha?!”

Gabriel added and Elliot remained mute.

Gabriel murmured .

“That's what I thought.”

He stormed out of the room, leaving Draco and Elliot alone.

On his way out he met Lori in the hallway, rushing towards him.

“Gabriel? What’s going on…”

"Say your goodbyes Lori."

He said to her before storming off.

What the fuck is going on? Lori asked herself as she looked around. She had been so confused when Gabriel ran out, then Draco did the same and warned her to stay indoors. She was going to listen to him but there was this sick feeling in her stomach that didn’t let her and she was very grateful when Grace had knocked the door unexpectedly coming to drop off some supplies.

She handed the baby to Grace and ran to Elliot’s room.

Elliot’s door was broken, broken to the point that he would need a new door.

Draco was walking out as she was walking in, a blank expression on his face with his phone to his ear. He was barking out orders to someone on the phone.

What was going on?

“What happened?”

She asked as she saw Elliot’s head buried in his hands. Elliot slowly raised his head at the sound of her voice.

Lori gasped when she saw how red his face had become. He looked like he had been crying.

Did she cause this?!

She thought as she took a small step back, fear enveloping her with the glare that Elliot was giving her.

“You.”

He said. He shook his head and picked up a shoe lying on the floor and tossed it across the room.

Lori flinched as the shoe landed on a glass vase. The vase broke. Elliot didn’t even flinch.

“I’m so sorry Elliot…”

She started but he shook his head.

“This is all your fucking fault.”

Lori shook her head.

“That’s not true.”

“That’s not true and you know it.”

Elliot pointed a menacing finger at her.

“You're the reason everything is happening.”

“Eliot you don't mean that…”

Lori said as she took another step back, he was walking towards her now, his eyes turning an unnatural green.

Was he turning?!

Was he going to attack her?! No, Elliot would never. They were friends.

“Damn well I do!”

“Elliot I’m really sorry…”

She pleaded. To be honest she wasn’t even entirely sure what she was apologizing about, only that Elliot was upset with her and it had to do with what he told her to promise not to tell Gabriel.

“You promised me! You fucking promised!”

“I’m so sorry…”

Elliot sighed and finally backed away.

“Ever since you came into our lives you’ve turned it all over with your stupid rotting luck!”

“Your fucking son died. Your fucking parents abandoned you! Your fucking brother’s trying to kill you…”

“So please Lori, stay the hell away from me!!”

Lori stilled. Elliot’s words were like knives, twisting deeper and deeper as he said it. She should have never had told him, about herself. About what happened to her. This was the price she was paying for thinking she found a friend in him.

It was all her fault. All her fault anyways…

Her vision blurred, she blinked back the tears. Elliot because silent, his breathing normal.

He wished he could take back the words, the look on Lori’s face was enough to make him feel awful for even saying them… but he was too angry, too arrogant to even beg.

“That was low Elliot.”

“Even for you.”

She whispered as she left his room.

***************

"Lori!! Where's Gabriel?"

Draco called out as he barged into the penthouse. Lori looked up from the bottle she was cleaning, she had not seen him since she left Elliot's room and that was only a few minutes ago.

"I thought he was with you..."

She answered and Draco shook his head.

"He isn't. I have to tell him something."

"What is it?!"

Grace asked in concern and Draco sighed.

"I can't find Elliot..."
The Alpha’s Nanny.
