Chapter 22: Dating a Billionaire

Gwen couldn’t believe her eyes. How could she meet a billionaire and have a one-night stand with him? She was just an ordinary woman. Even though they had an amazing chemistry - and incredible sex, she had to add - she would never belong to a world like his.
Panicking because of this discovery, Gwen turned to grab her clothes and leave. She was wearing just his shirt from last night. But when she decided to do that, she bumped into him. When had he woken up?
“Good morning to you,” his hoarse voice came from above her head, and memories of the previous night flashed inside her mind, making her legs tremble.
He looked as intoxicatingly handsome as he did the night before.
“Good morning,” she replied, clearing her throat. But the man didn’t even notice it, instead choosing to kiss just below her jaw.
“I can’t believe that you’re a billionaire,” she commented between gasps, unable to pretend she hadn’t seen the headline.
“Is that a bad thing?” he asked, pulling away from her to look into her eyes.
“No, I mean… It’s not a good or a bad thing, it’s just… weird,” she explained. “I mean, I’ve never met one before.” she said, laughing.
Finn smiled at her and continued to place kisses all over her collarbone and cheeks.
After that, he convinced Gwen to stay for breakfast, which she agreed. They had so much to talk about, and they seemed completely interested in each other.
“So you’re a model? Have I seen any job of yours?” Finn asked, intrigued. “I don’t think so. I’d remember your face,” he continued, answering his own question.
Gwen smiled, a little embarrassed with his compliment.
He made her feel like a teenage girl all over again. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach every time he looked at her or kissed her. How could someone like him be interested in someone like her? That didn’t make sense in her head. It was like she was living inside a movie or something.
“Well, and what about you? How does it feel to be a billionaire?” she asked, taking a bite from her scrambled eggs, made by him.
Not only a billionaire, but also a good chef. He had to have a flaw. It was not possible for someone to be that perfect.
After their morning of eggs and conversation, Gwen and Finn became inseparable. He wanted to see her every day after work, and by the time she understood what was happening, he was calling her his girlfriend.
A secret one though.
She didn’t want anyone to know that she was dating a billionaire CEO because she didn’t want people to think she was only after his money. In fact, she didn’t want to depend on him for anything. Gwen was at the beginning of her modeling career, and whatever jobs she’d get after everyone discovered about their relationship, people would think that she only got it because of him.
Finn had offered to help her to get a nice job during their relationship, after all, he had a lot of connections. But she refused. Gwen wanted to get everything by herself. She was very proud, and couldn’t stand the idea of having people saying that she wasn’t talented enough. He understood her choice, even though he didn’t agree.
Another thing that bothered Finn at certain point was that he wanted to show the world that Gwen was his girlfriend. He had plans for them, but keeping their relationship a secret forever was very hard. Especially for someone like him, who was always on the news and social medias.
One day, during a drunken conversation, while talking about previous relationships, Finn let it slip that that he had been engaged to a woman before knowing Gwen. She was shocked by that statement.
“Actually, I broke up with her on the day I met you,” he explained, not realizing that his words were only making things worse.
“What do you mean you were engaged? To whom?” Gwen had asked at the time, feeling betrayed and jealous, even though it didn’t make sense. He didn’t owe her any explanation about his past. But she thought it'd be considerate of him to mention it to her anyway.
“It wasn’t something that I wanted. My family has other plans for my life, but I said I wouldn’t marry someone I didn’t love,” he explained.
But when Gwen tried to get more information out of him, Finn changed the subject, his brows furrowing in frustration. After that, they never mentioned it again.
Dating a billionaire had its ups and downs. Especially since Finn was someone that the press was constantly keeping an eye on; the most desirable bachelor in the country. Gwen didn’t even know how they managed to keep their romance hidden for so long.
After a few months together, Finn had taken her to a private island. She almost fainted when he told her their destination. And while spending the weekend by the beach, he told her that he loved her for the first time. Gwen could not believe her ears.
They had been swimming in the sea, and though they were both extremely happy, his declaration was still a shock to her ears.
“What did you say?” she asked, not believing that she had heard it correctly.
“I said that I love you,” he repeated, coming closer to her and taking her in his arms. “And that I want to marry you one day.”
She also loved him. More than anything. Her feelings were so strong that she was afraid of it. She was afraid that something could go wrong. She clearly didn’t belong to his world, as she was more than sure on the day they had met. If they wanted to be together, Gwen would have to face whatever his status brought to their lives, and Finn would have to face the hardships of being a CEO and having to deal with his family’s wishes as well.
They were basically postponing the inevitable. They knew what those things meant to their relationship. They would have to go against the world to be together. And even though they thought they were ready to go through that, everything changed in just one day.
