Chapter 19

He arrived at his office at twelve o'clock. All his employees were working in an orderly fashion. He left some papers on his assistant's desk and went straight into the office. Somehow, he couldn't get Luna out of his mind. Why were all these thoughts suddenly creeping into his head?

Luna was in her room, she had several things to tidy up. The fire had destroyed much of the room and it wasn't safe to stay there. So she was moving all her things - or those that had been saved, at least - to another of the guest rooms. Portia was watching television downstairs, and Rose was resting.

The hour had passed quickly, and it wouldn't be long before James would be there.

She finished rearranging her clothes and looked around, she'd have to get ready too. She didn't know where they were going.

She left his clothes on the bed, and went straight to the shower. It took her a few minutes, not long because she had showered after the incident and felt really tired. When she got out, she got dressed as quickly as she could.

Portia was laying ready on the couch watching some animal program intently. Every now and then Luna would check to make sure it wasn't one of those wild and graphic ones. My goodness, what an effect that would have on the child. She laughed.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell.

James? It was only two-thirty.

She walked to the door and opened it without checking.

No.

Was she hallucinating?

- What are you doing here? -she asked dumbfounded.

The man looked at her neutrally.

-I've come to get you out of this house.

-Samuel, I'm calling the police.

-What? Let me in. - he exclaimed. He pushed Luna out of her place and walked into the house. Portia looked at him in surprise from the doorway.

-Get out now! You've come too far. Besides, James will be here any minute.

She tried to push him away.

Samuel laughed.

-No, I'm tired. I won't let some random guy take you away from me.

-You don't love me, you're obsessed. Now go...

-What's going on here? - was heard from the entrance. The door slammed shut.

-Oh good, here comes the boss.

- Luna, is everything all right? - he asked looking at her with concern. She didn't answer, because she was interrupted.

-Samuel. We met on the phone.

James looked at him with confusion. Confusion and anger. What was that asshole doing in his house?

-Well, Samuel. Time to go.

Samuel laughed.

-I just came for my girl. Personal issues.

-I think you're confused. You better get out of here before things get ugly, okay?

- You're probably used to getting what you want, but not this time. I need to talk to Luna.

- No, Samuel. Get out now. - she replied.

- And leave you here? With another man, after you've ignored me? You're mine, do you think I'll leave without you?

Luna looked at him with disgust. She began to weave words together in her mind before she said them, but was interrupted again. This time, by James.

- He's with me, Samuel. Go away.

Samuel looked at Luna, who didn't seem to understand anything.

-Or did he, Luna?

She nodded quickly and then looked at Samuel.

-Yes. Go away Samuel, I don't love you anymore.

Samuel looked at James. He snorted with a strange smile on his face, and opened the door.

-This doesn't stay like this, Bexell. - he pronounced and walked out. As quickly as he left, finally, James stopped looking at him and turned to look at Luna. She was pale and embarrassed, you could tell how much that visit had affected her. Portia was standing in the doorway, watching everything with great interest.

James smiled, ignoring the previous situation.

-Well, are you ready?
