2°: Chapter 8

Luna looked at the dress lying on the bed. It was black and had a heart-shaped neckline. It came to a little above the knee. She had bought it a week ago. She wondered if Lily would go. Lily had been his friend since she started working at Domicile, plus, she had a serious problem; she was pregnant, barely 2 months. She had a partner, of course, but her boyfriend was not the father. He had kept this from her, and she didn't know what to do. He didn't know whether to tell her the truth, or keep it in the middle of his throat.

He had talked to her today. Lily was totally desperate, she didn't know what to do.

She took the dress and left it on the counter next to the mirror. She went into the bathroom and inwardly disowned James. She had left the towel lying in the middle of the bathroom. She turned on the shower and stepped into it. He could take some time. Dinner was starting at 10, it was barely 8:20.

He didn't know how to help Lily. He had advised her as he saw fit. But he didn't know what else to tell her. In her opinion, keeping the truth from her boyfriend was wrong, but there was also the option of her being helpless. It wasn't going to be that way as long as Luna was there for her. She finished scrubbing her body and grabbed the shampoo. Lily was only 23 years old. She was young and beautiful. She had a boyfriend named James, but she was suffering intensely for James Stewart.

James was a guy she had hooked up with months ago. She was starting to have feelings for him. Maybe the best option was to tell the truth. Luna hoped she was going to the dinner, she'd like to give him close support.

-

- I heard her talking about it, anyway. -She said as she set the glass of vodka on the table.

-You still can't be sure of anything, James. I already told you, you may have got confused. Besides, I don't think Luna is a person capable of doing that.

-I don't know. There are a lot of things about her haunting me lately.

Peter looked at him waiting for him to speak.

-What do you mean? -he asked.

-It's...pretty complicated. I don't know if I should be talking about this, I think it's personal. He's never told me.

-It depends on the degree of the situation.

- I don't know, it's nothing too serious, but I know he has a complicated past.

- But... What happened? -I asked, looking at him carefully. James sighed.

-She was hospitalized for a while, for some reason I don't know. -He explained. That seemed to be too personal and James felt he shouldn't have spoken.

-Really? She seems...

- She seems like the kind of girl who hasn't been there. -He replied. He looked at his watch, 9:10. He had to go. -Well, I should go. -He said, looking at his friend. Peter nodded.

James pulled out a $100 bill and laid it on the table.

-I'll pay. -Peter said.

James looked at him reluctantly.

-No, leave it. -He said as he walked away.

Peter snorted.

-

Luna was finishing her makeup. She had only applied a little eyeliner, mascara, and a soft lip gloss. She had combed her hair into soft waves that looked natural. She walked to the door, opening it was her huge closet.James and Luna had the biggest room of all. It was very large. The walls were white, the bed was quite large. It was dark wood, and the upholstery was black. To the left of the bed, about 2 meters away, there was a door, it was James's closet. On the other side, about 8 feet away, was the other door, it was Luna's closet. Then, there was the bathroom. It, too, was large and spacious. The walls were blue and it had a large mirror. Next to it, there was a shelf. It had a bathtub in a round shape. And then, three feet away, there was a shower in a cubicle. The truth Luna thought how much the house, or rather mansion, could have cost James. She put on her heels, grabbed her purse and went downstairs. She looked at the time on her cell phone. 9:45 PM. She waved her hands nervously. Arriving on the second floor, she went straight to the kitchen. She grabbed a bottle of water.

-Arrive. -James said, entering the kitchen.

Luna turned around.

James smiled and scanned her from top to bottom. She looked beautiful.

- Hi," Luna said with a smile on her face. She put the bottle down on the counter.

-You look beautiful. -He said approaching Luna.

She smiled.

-Portia said, "Thank you. You too.

James placed his hand on the back of Luna's neck and pulled her close to him.

He felt the sweet perfume she had put on. As Luna felt the sweet vodka breath. James sweetly took Luna's mouth. He loved her, loved her madly. Somehow, she had helped him out of that dark pit of the past James had found himself in. Also, he had noticed how his mood had changed. He had gone from being 24 hours a day angry to having a good time. He had fallen in love quickly. Or maybe, he had never stopped being in love. Luna slowly pulled away from James. She hugged him slowly as she rested her head on his chest.

-I missed you. -She smiled as she smelled James's perfume.

-Me too. -- He answered.

At that moment the words that Luna had said hours before filled his head.

-

Luna got out of the car with James. She had asked him to accompany her to the entrance and he readily accepted.

- How long have you known these girls? -James asked after opening the door.

-A few years ago," he said with a smile.

She started walking. James was right behind her.

-That's good. -James said. -- Do you have friends?

Luna laughed.

-You're trying to be antisocial," she said amused.

James laughed. He looked down at Luna's ass. Who was walking flirtatiously.

-I never said that. I meant it literally, my male friends, that's what I meant.

-Oh, yes.

-What are your names? -I asked interested.

Luna turned around.

-George, he's gay. And stop looking at my ass. -She laughed.

James smiled and walked over to stand next to her. He put an arm around Luna's shoulders.

- Is he gay? -He asked, looking at her.

-Yes. Do you want me to introduce you to him? They'd make a cute couple. -She laughed.

James snorted.

-Of course. Maybe he's my soul mate. - James said jokingly.

Luna laughed softly.

- I bet she is.

- One of my assistants could introduce herself if you want. -James said smiling. Luna looked at him.

-No thanks, I already have a girlfriend. -- I joked.

James made a surprised gesture and then approached Luna. He placed a kiss on her mouth and looked at her amused. They reached the door of the restaurant and James walked in with Luna.

He watched as Luna raised her hand in greeting to a table full of girls in their twenties and twenty-sixes.

-There they are. -Luna smiled.

-Good. -She replied. He approached her and kissed her again.

-Shall I call you later?

-Whenever you want, I'll be here. -He said with a smile.

Luna nodded. James winked at her and walked out. Luna started walking towards the table full of girls. There were almost 20 of them. When she arrived she greeted them all with a kiss on the cheek. She spotted Lily in the background. She quickly went to her.

--

James got into his car and left on his way home. Well, Luna had only one friend, and he was gay.

She still had a serious question about the conversation she'd had that day. He would try not to make too much of it, though. She drove slowly, she was in no hurry. He put on one of his cd's. A few seconds later, Nirvana started playing inside his vehicle. After a few minutes he arrived home. When he walked in, Portia was still not there. It was 10:20Pm. She wondered if maybe she was sleeping with her mother. James had offered her mother a room, but she insisted she didn't want to bother him and would go to a hotel. He picked up his phone and texted his mother.

"Portia with you yet? - James."

He waited a few minutes until she responded.

"She's staying the night with me. Don't worry, she's fine. She's asleep. Take care.x - Mom."

After reading the message, he went straight to his room. He took off the heavy black suit he was wearing and put on a black shirt with the Ramones logo, a black jogging suit and black converse. Sometimes he wondered what he would be doing if he wasn't the owner of one of the most famous companies in the USA. He was still young, very young. And even though he had been through some tough things, he felt lucky for all the things he had had so far.

He still remembered Sarah, but not sadly. He liked to remember the good things about her. It was a nice memory, and he'd gotten through it all, thankfully. Now he had Luna, Portia was healthy, Rose was going daily, and he didn't have to work as much as he used to.

She went downstairs. She saw Luna's purse on the couch, well, one of her purses. She saw how a little box was sticking out of the second clasp. Was that a...? No. It couldn't be. James quickly reached down, pulled out the little box.

"Baby Fast : Pregnancy Test."

He looked nervously at the box. He opened it and took out the test. I think he already knew the answer.

-Positive. -Luna is pregnant," she muttered.

She quickly put the test away, and I put the box back in its place. Her hands were shaking all over. And he could only remember the words Luna had said earlier that day.

According to what he had heard, she was pregnant, and that was beautiful, James would be happy, but...it wasn't his. That made him want to cry.
