Chapter 94: In Every Life
< Shirley>
It's been a week since we were in Spain, and all I and Dylan did was binge Netflix because we couldn't go out with Dylan still in the process of healing. However, he had healed up enough now to be able to walk around and use his guns.
Besides, today I was going to participate in a car race with a fake identity as it was a small-time race. I was too bored to stay inside a room any longer. That's why we were now in the participants' room.
"Best of luck, love," Dylan said with a smile.
"Thanks." I leaned forward to give him a peck but he put his palm on my mouth just like my last tournament.
"Win, then kiss me," he said mischievously.
"Okay." I pouted and went inside, not before giving him a hug.
Whatever happened after that went by a flash, and as expected, I won the race swiftly with no other difficulties. I won a national tournament, so it wasn't any big deal for me. However, once I stepped out of my costume, I noticed a few men in black and gasped.
"She must be nearby. I definitely saw her," said one of them.
I quickly put on my clothes and made a run for it. Thankfully, I bumped into Dylan right outside.
"Congratulations on the win, love," Dylan wished chirpily.
"They are here," I cried out.
"Shit, I knew this was a bad idea," he mumbled.
"You never said that," I argued.
"Let's not fight right now and get out of here," Dylan urged and took a hold of my hand.
But as our luck wouldn't support us for that long, we noticed those men surrounding the parking lot where our car was parked.
"Now what should we do?" I asked.
"I don't know," Dylan replied.
I was biting my lips in anticipation when an idea popped into my head. A grin took over my lips.
"What's with that creepy smile? If you have a plan, spit it," Dylan said.
I told him the plan and he gaped at me with wide eyes, giving me an 'are-you-crazy-woman?' look.
"It's going to be crazy, I know. But let's have fun while we are running. Who needs to be so serious when we have to run around like this? Let's have some fun," I encouraged and he laughed lightly.
"I don't even know why I'm agreeing on this, but let's do it."
I grinned before we ran to the race tracks where the double-seater formula race cars were parked after their race was over. I hopped on the primary driver seat and Dylan sat beside me.
"Oh, my gosh! What are you doing?" hollered the commenter.
"Stealing one of your cars," I hollered back and pressed the accelerator before driving out of the race tracks.
"Oh, lord! Someone, stop them!"
I laughed and further said before exiting the arena, "Don't worry, you can have it back later. Though I can't guarantee its safety."
My father's men watched us with eyes as wide as saucers leaving right in front of their eyes yet they wouldn't be able to catch us. I drove out on the street and took the highway.
While driving, Dylan and I burst out laughing.
"What the heck did we just do?" Dylan said while laughing.
"Did you see their face when we drove out right in front of them?" I laughed harder.
"We are going to be banned from Spain, you know?" he said as our car was flying thrice over the speed limit.
"Let's never come back here," I responded.
All of a sudden, there was some noise in the back of the car before it started slowing down. My eyes fell on the fuel meter, and it was low.
"And as always, luck never fails to amuse me," Dylan commented.
"You don't say, baby."
As the car came to a stop soon enough and we were in the middle of an empty highway with barely anything or anyone around, Dylan and I again cracked up.
Dylan said in between his laughter, "W—we are so d—dead."
"I can't imagine how lucky our kid is going to be," I added. Seriously, our kid would need to go to church every day to beg good luck from God, or else, he or she would write the best in the exam and forget to write their name on the sheet.
After a minute, I saw two SUVs coming from behind. "Shit," we both cursed and got out of the car.
I held Dylan's hand and started running to find somewhere to hide since Dylan was still too weak to drain too much energy. It felt like I was in a thriller movie. All we needed now was a helicopter to show up for us to add to the climax.
Miraculously, my words came true.
There was a sudden loud buzz that grabbed our attention. As we looked up in the sky, we saw a helicopter coming our way and someone was waving at us.
"Dammit, you two! Next time tell me where you are hiding so that I can find you and help you out," hollered a familiar voice.
"Hiring your brother as my former executive was one of the best decisions ever," Dylan said to me, and I shrugged.
"This is the last time I'm helping you two jerks," Adrian rebuked before letting down a ladder for us.
As we saw the SUVs getting closer, Dylan motioned me to start climbing but I was scared.
"What if I fall?" I mumbled skeptically even though it would be a new experience.
"Then I catch you or fall with you," Dylan replied, making a smile form on my face. Of course, he would always catch me from falling or trip himself for my sake.
As I started climbing and was in the mid-air, I grinned, feeling the strong breeze hitting me and making my hair fly all over. Dylan and I quickly finished climbing up the ladder and got inside the helicopter. I breathed in and out of relief.
"Seriously, I hate you two," scolded Adrian.
"How did you find us?" Dylan inquired.
"Because I knew you guys would be stupid enough to participate in a race when there are men after your blood." Adrian rolled his eyes, and we gave him a sheepish smile. "I didn't even recognize you guys for those ridiculous hair colors." I scratched the back of my neck as it was my doing. "Anyways, I'm glad you guys are safe."
"So, what's the plan?" I diverted the topic.
"We will take the cargo train to Morocco as going to Portugal might not be safe anymore," Adrian explained.
"Let's take the ferry then. It will be safe and quicker," Dylan suggested.
"How about we take a boat?" I further suggested.
"Um, guys, taking the boat could be riskier because the weather could get bad anytime and they do a lot of checks there," Adrian said.
"But taking the waterway will be more fun," I chimed.
"The risker it is, the more fun, and we agreed on that," Dylan added
Adrian raised his hands in defeat. "I'm going to part ways with you guys in Morocco. I don't want to get killed by staying with you two lunatics."
I ignored him and started pointing at the small houses from above. I and Dylan started chatting about the things we missed in Spain and the things we would do in Morocco while Adrian just shook his head at our ridiculousness.
I know we were crazy to even be thinking of having fun while our lives were at risk, but what would be life if we didn't face dangers with a smile on our face?
I had been through a lot in the last few days, starting from getting kidnapped by Ryan, my parents dying, and now staying on a run. If I didn't keep my mind occupied by doing crazy things like this, I would go nuts.
Besides, I had my love by my side to support me through everything. If I fell weak, I was confident that Dylan would pick me up. If I broke down, I knew that he would build me up again. The wounds on my heart were still fresh and bleeding, yet I knew that he would heal them up along with time.
I was truly grateful to have him in my life. Whatever I did in my previous life to deserve him in this life, I wanted to do that again so that I could get him again in my next life. In every life, I only wanted Dylan.
I wanted to live again and again with him, through every trouble and happiness, fights and endearing moments. Every moment with him was worth cherishing, and none of those were worth forgetting.
