Chapter 10
CHAPTER 10
HAVEN'S POINT OF VIEW
I spent the dinner eating silently on my seat while everybody was discussing something. The man beside me, Asmodeus Hadron was giving some orders towards the men on the table. They were talking about patrolling every night and stuffs that concerns about the Pack's safety.
That's when I realize that Hadron isn't really just a simple person here or someone who just have a high position in this mansion. Everyone calls him a King...and it already is making me think if he's a royalty or what.
The more that the men seems to be in too deep discussion, the more that I got so curious about Asmodeus or Hadron. I don't really know what to call him exactly. Or do I have to call him a King too?
I sighed.
I shouldn't really let this night pass without even asking him a single thing about him.
They're a werewolves. I know that. I can smell them even without Heaven's guidance right now since she's not yet back from her beauty rest, I guess. But I am really smelling something else with their scents. And aside from that, I've noticed that they're quite different to the werewolf community that I lived all my life since then. They have different rules. I can't exactly point that out. But I know that they're just...so different.
They call Hadron a King. Is it something that equivalents to an Alpha? I bit my lower and sighed as I shook my head. I hope not. Because the last time that I was mated to an Alpha, he doesn't want me. I was unwanted. And I only have to do the favor of rejecting him to save my pride from being stepped on too much.
But... How sure am I that Hadron will end up as asshole as Tristan is? He might or might not. I don't know. I'm still unsure so the only thing that I can do is to protect my heart from possible too much heartbreak. And for me to do that, I shouldn't stop being too easily swayed with sweet words, promises, and fake...love. The lesser the attachment is, the lesser the heartbreak would be.
After eating our dinner, Hadron brought me to the room. Well, seems like he is sleeping here too. It was fine with me. Well, I have to be fine. This is his mansion and I am somewhat like a tenant here so I can't say no to the landlord. Not unless he'll tell me to do something more than sleeping. I would be more than willing to get out of this place.
"I have a question..." I blurted out silently as I settled myseld in the middle of the huge bed, watching him about to strip his top to change but he stopped when he heard me talking.
He immediately turned his head to me. He slightly raised his right brow so I looked away but I still ended up looking at him again.
This man won't just really stop being gorgeous.
"Hmm? What is it?"
"They call you a King. I've heard it a lot of times already, just this whole day. Are you a royalty or something?"
He smiled at me, amusement was dancing in his eyes and I just pouted. He chuckled causing me to narrow my eyes at him. How dare him laugh at my misery, huh? I mean, yeah, this is misery. Being clueless about him while he, with no doubt, knows me already is a big fat misery.
Topless and only wearing his pants on, he walked towards me and that's when I looked away. My face heated as I remembered how my eyes drifted towards his eight pack of abs. Yes. I was still able to count it and I don't have any idea how I survive staring at it in just a matter of seconds. Dang, I felt powerful at that very moment.
I felt him sat beside me, at my right side, opposite to wear my face is facing.
"I knew you'd be really curious since I didn't tell you my name while I know yours," He chuckled and I frowned. What? Is this some kind of a game for him now?
I turned to him, slightly irritated of the fact that he's making this a joke. I saw how startled he is seeing my mad face. He immediately raised both of his hands like he was surrendering.
"I'm sorry, baby." He said but seems not so serious with it! I still can see the amusement in his eyes for the wolf's sake even how much he tried to hide it!
I frowned even more and huffed. Seriously? Is he going to answer me or he'll just spend his whole night teasing me?!
He sighed and shook his head, smiling. "I am not a royalty or something, Cerise Haven. It's my title. That's what I am here in this mansion. A King. Their ruler."
My forehead creased in total confusion. The words he said didn't registered in my head yet. It was short but I can't seem to process it correctly!
He's not a royalty but he is a King?!
"I am still a werewolf. We are still are. Everyone here are werewolves. It's just that we're a lot different from any other packs." When he said the last words, I heard how his voice changed into a colder one. Like he wasn't supposed to say that to me...just yet, but was able to say it anyway.
I unconsciously gulped when I saw his face. It was void with any emotion. So much different from what he shows awhile ago to me.
He's really...different. So, so different.
"We have different kind of lifestyles here. We're more like...modern people. More open towards the humans. We are living like how human's live. We send the kids to the city to study and after they graduate, they'll come back here. It's either to find their mate or just...live here for good. We do the things that the normal wolves won't. We're unique. We're different."
My mouth almost dropped open. I nodded unconsciously. That's why... That's why everything in this place are refreshing. Because they've been influenced by how humans live their lives.
Even the mansion is styled different. It was beautiful, elegant and unique. Something that I haven't seen even before.
They send the kids in the city to study in schools. They let their members here mingle with the humans. They are more open, indeed, and that's what makes them different. Uniquely different.
But I am curious. Why are they living...differently?
He must've seen the obvious question in my eyes so he immediately answered me the words that completely shook my world.
"We're Rogues."
