WORKING TOGETHER TO FIND A CURE

**ALIVIA POV**
As I was walking out of the building, I sensed Dr. Volkov's eyes on me I look back and catch him watch me intently before he turns away, as if he was caught in the act. My mind races with questions why was he watching me?
I push those thoughts aside, brushing it off as a figment of my imagination. After speaking to Dr. Volkov I felt a new sense of calm and determination to help my people in any way I can. I was surprised to see that he was willing to speak with me, despite his initial annoyance. I asked him about the treatment options available for those infected with the virus, and he took the time to explain in detail, even showing me some of his research.
I was grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a renowned doctor. I knew that my role as a nurse was more important now than ever before. I left the university that day, filled with a sense of purpose and determination.
As I walked back to the infirmary, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Adam standing outside next to a towering tree, his blue eyes gazing intently at the ground and his hands snug in his pockets. I approached him cautiously yet curiously, as if my heart had its own agenda. “Adam, what are you doing here?” I asked, wondering if my voice would betray the intensity of my emotions.

“I’m working with doctor Volkov as a researcher, this is not the first town that the virus has hit.” Adam says with his brows furrowed.

I was taken aback by this news. I had never heard of the virus spreading to other towns. “Really? What other towns have been affected?” I asked, eager to learn more.
Adam sighed; his expression grim. “It has been happening all over the Kingdom, but the symptoms are getting worse, and the number of cases is increasing. It first started with animal attacks like I told you before and somehow whatever illness they had was passed on to werewolves making them go berserk and eventually die.”

My heart sank at the thought of the virus spreading and causing more harm to the people. I knew that my role as a nurse was even more important now, and I needed to do everything in my power to help. “I want to help,” I said firmly. “I’ll do anything I can to assist to find a cure.”

Adam’s expression softened as he looked at me with appreciation. “I knew I could count on you, Alivia,” he said. “Dr. Volkov is one of the best in the field, but he can’t do it alone. We need all the help we can get to stop this virus from spreading further.”

I nodded, determined to do my part. “I will do whatever it takes. Whether it’s assisting with research or helping those who are sick, I’m here to help.”

“First, we need to gather as much information as possible about the virus and its effects on the people. Then, we’ll work on finding a cure,” Adam explains.

I take a deep breath, ready for the challenge ahead. I knew that finding a cure for the virus would be a long and difficult journey, but I was willing to do whatever it takes to save lives and bring hope to the people. “Thank you, Adam,” I say with a small smile, and he nods.

“So, how did you make your way to Silver Oak?” Adam enquires, tilting his head in intrigue.

“Your grandfather Lucian led me to Bertha, who then graciously offered her assistance,” I reply with a radiant smile.

“Bertha?” Adam raises his eyebrows in surprise. “I would not have thought she would be willing to help. My grandfather and her have quite a history, to say the least.” He lets out a chuckle.

My curiosity peeked I noticed the way she reacted when I told her Lucien sent me and I couldn't help but ask "What history?"

Adam hesitated for a moment, as if debating whether to share the information with me or not. Then, he spoke, "My grandfather and Bertha both fought in the army of the royal family of Adrienia. They fought together in many battles, and Bertha saved my grandfather's life on multiple occasions. But they also had many challenges and fought a lot about the best way to approach certain situations. Eventually, they had a falling out and went their separate ways."

My mind was reeling as I took in this new information. I saw the way Bertha fought those bandits when they attacked our carriage, but I never would have thought that she served in the army. As the Princess of Adrienia, I was surprised and embarrassed that I had been ignorant about this part of our history. But Adam seemed to be holding back something more, and I didn't want to push him too hard. After all, I had to keep my identity as the Princess a secret.

"I see," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Thank you, Adam. But I must get back now, there's a patient I need to check on back at the infirmary."

"Of course, Alivia," Adam replied, nodding. "Let me know if you need any help with the patients or if you have any questions about the virus. I'm staying at Dr. Volkov's packhouse. We're all in this together."

I smiled gratefully at Adam and turned to head back to the infirmary. As I walked, my mind was racing with new questions and possibilities. What other secrets lay hidden in Adrienia's past?

**Adam POV**

As I watched Alivia leave, I couldn’t help but think of the events that has led me to this point.

I felt the weight of my Alpha title like a boulder on my shoulders as I watched the chaos unfold before me. My pack members were screaming and running as the animals of the forest raced to attack us. We fought back, but nothing could stop them as they tore through us like a wave of destruction. Half of my pack was scattered and mangled in a matter of minutes, leaving me in shock and sorrow as I watched my family suffer. All I could do was stand there, helplessly praying for the strength to save the ones I love.
I frantically searched for a way to save the few members of my pack who were still alive. I found the only solution in the form of the legendary Dr. Volkov, a renowned doctor who was known for his expertise in treating unusual illnesses and diseases. He worked diligently, feverishly trying to mend my pack’s wounds. With each stitched wound and healed bruise, our hope of survival grew stronger until we were all healing again. I owed him my life.

“We cannot allow this infection to continue,” he said sternly, his gaze fixed on my face. “Your pack is known for its abundant resources and with your research skills, we might have a fighting chance against this thing.”

“I’m willing to help in any way I can,” I replied, determination in my voice. “I won’t let this virus destroy my pack or anyone else’s.”

“Good,” Dr. Volkov said with a nod. “We’ll need to work together if we want to find a cure. This virus is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, and we need to get to the bottom of it quickly.”

When we made our way to Dr Volkov’s workshop, in Silver Oak. I watched in awe as Dr. Volkov fussed over beakers and flasks bubbling over with brightly coloured chemicals. As he worked, I studied the complex diagrams on the workshop walls and scribbled notes in my journal, determined to understand the science behind it all. “You’ve been working on this for a while?” I asked, marvelling at the vast number of notes and experiments.

“Yes, I have,” he replied. “The virus is spreading rapidly, and I need to find a cure before it’s too late.”

Dr. Volkov’s enthusiasm was contagious, and soon we were working around the clock to find a cure. I gathered herbs and flowers from the surrounding forests and traveling to my grandfather’s cabin in search of new herbs that could help us. While Dr. Volkov carefully measured and combined them into new compounds. With each new experiment, the hope of defeating the virus grew stronger.

As we ventured from village to village, the devastation worsened with each step. The virus was getting stronger, and its victims were suffering more than ever before. I was driven by my determination to find a cure and use my skills and resources to help those affected.

My pack was known for trading and essential in supplying us with the tools we needed. We had access to cutting-edge medical equipment and rare materials from distant Kingdoms. Working together, I knew that eventually we could find a way to save the kingdom from this deadly virus.

Looking back on the events of our journey together, I realized that our partnership was more than just a collaboration to find a cure. It was the beginning of a friendship and now that the virus has made its way to Silver Oak, we can use all the help we can get.
