-HER-

“You still smell like me,” He remarks while running his nose along my neck. As soon as my lungs are filled with enough air, I notice that I am sitting on his lap.

“Er… Jake,” I utter as I try to shift from his lap but he’s holding me in place. He hums in response but doesn’t make any effort to move.

“I think I could sit on the seat,” I tell him breathily. My heart is still racing in my chest. The strange sensation is there as he trails his nose along my skin, leaving a trail of them. He looks at me for a moment. His pitch-black eyes simmer with lust and possessiveness as he takes me in.

“Why? Don’t you like this closeness?” I shiver when he mutters against my skin. My stomach clenches and my heart skips a beat in my chest. I feel him smile against my skin.

“Er… I think we should talk first, Jake?” I manage to speak sternly. He gets this hint before he looks at me again. The playfulness is gone from his face before he nods. He slowly lets me go and I shift to the passenger seat.

A momentary silence stretches between us as I stare out of the window while I try to collect my thoughts. Where is this going? Where are we going?

Now that the misunderstanding had been taken care of, what’s next? But wait, did he forgive me?

“You wanted to talk,” He reminds me before I could steer deeper into my thoughts. I snap out of my daze before I turn to him.

“So, am I forgiven?” I ask anxiously, “I should’ve apologized to you before but I didn’t see you much and I didn’t text you because I thought you were done with me after we had that conversation,” He is watching me warily as I speak to him.

His eyes would momentarily drift to my lips before they’d snap back to my eyes. The lust and possessiveness are still there in his eyes. I am tempted to go back to the position we were in.

“Jake, I am sorry,” I say out loud when he doesn’t respond to my previous question. He just keeps staring at me, which makes things awkward for me.

“Am I forgiven, Jake?” I ask again. This question puts an expression on his face with which I am not familiar with. The silence continues to stretch longer and longer while my heart beats louder and louder.

“No,” His answer pinches at my heart but I nod anyway. He must have his reasons and I respect them very much, “but I’d if you go out with me,” He instantly adds with a huge grin, taking me by surprise.

“Er… okay?” I blurt out, “So, do you want to go back in?” I instantly ask, nodding towards the place from where we came from. A frown climbs on his face before he answers, “Not really, do you?”

I shake my head.

“Then let’s go somewhere else,” He suggests and I end up agreeing. I didn’t want to go inside the loud place, flooding with people. It made me very uncomfortable.

“There’s this place, it should be mostly empty now,” He comments, bringing the engine to life. I was surprised that he was able to read my mind.

“Ok,”

“So, how did you find out that I have a twin? He doesn’t go to college that much,” He asks, driving out of the parking lot.

“Brooke told me,” As soon as I told him, he freezes. I instantly remember how Brooke told me to not tell him anything about our conversation.

“What else did she tell you?” He asks sharply, cocking an eyebrow at me. I sink deeper into my seat, “Not much, why?” I ask him back innocently.

“Nothing,” he mutters before he continues to ask, “How did you know I am not dating Tiffany?”

I gulp before I try to answer him as calmly as possible, “Brooke told me?” I instantly see him jaw tick while he clutches the steering wheel hard.

Are my answers digging a grave for Brooke? I hope not.

“I mean, I saw her with your twin once and heard her call him Davis. I was confused so I asked her later and she told me that it was your twin and that you were single,” I flush speaking the last part. He nods, his eyes trained on the road. I see him visibly relax.

I hope my explanation doesn’t make him doubt Brooke. He stops at the front of a small pizzeria. It’s not entirely empty but it’s not crowded like it was at the party.

He leads me inside and we instantly get an empty seat to ourselves. After ordering, I start the conversation.

“So, you wouldn’t need to go to college anymore, right?” I ask.

“I’d have to go next year for some days due to lobby,” He informs me. His eyes never waver from me.

“What do you plan next?”

“I have a family business. I’ll join it,” He answers and it instantly makes sense. He comes from a pretty wealthy family. His belongings and the strange aura hints it away.

“Wow,” He offers me a genuine smile and it instantly makes my heart skip a beat. It’s hard for me to believe that I am with him and talking after all the months. We talk more before our order arrives.

I don’t remember how long we talked. I lost track of time while talking to him. The conversation flowed very easily between us once we got into talking. I enjoyed more with him than I could have at the party.

He was telling me something about his family business when his phone rings up. At first, he puts it on silent and continues talking but at one point, he finally excuses to pick up the phone.

His eyebrows come together as soon as he puts the phone against his ear and speaks. He instantly finds his watch, which makes me look for mine too. I gasp to find out that it’s quite late.

I find multiple texts from and Lisa and Sidonio asking me where I was. I reply to them in panic.

“Brooke and Davis are mad at me that I took their car away,” He says apologetically after keeping the phone away.

“We must go back now,” I tell him.

“Do you want me to drive you home?” He asks.

“What about Brooke and Davis?” I ask him. The place we were at was closer to my house but I didn’t want to put him in trouble.

“They’ve booked a cab,” He tells me as we get into his car.

“Okay if you don’t mind,”

“I’d never mind,”
