Chapter 19
He would be happy to know that I can now handle things on my own, especially when I moved out of his place and found a place to pay rent on my own. I couldn't imagine how he could think when I had to tell him what I had gone through at the risk of finding out the truth about Jack.
I am sure he will be mad at Jack when I tell him the truth about him, all that he had done against his father, and above all the deepest of it all that Jack was a witch. l am Sure he wouldn't have forgiven him if he was alive.
But do I have to tell him all this? What if he finds out that I was in real danger and I almost got killed by the witches? I am sure he wouldn't get a chance to forgive me. He will be so mad at me and I won't get a chance to become the new manager of his company. Although he has been so quiet about the managerial post, I thought of going back to him and assuring him that I am ready for the post and that he should consider me this time.
"See you D!" I shouted at him as I fired the engine and drove off the highway. I checked and looked back through the mirror, only to see D waving back at me as he stood in the middle of the highway, his absence already felt my heart, a few hours with him looked to be so nice and it seemed to have made my heart feel a different thing about him.
He has been so nice to me, although the supernatural powers that I had seen through his fighting skills scared me. but he has been so amazing. As I sat in the car alone, I felt missing him already, his hairy skin and his dark black eyes, that was full of care. His fake smiles were warm and inspired me. I had this feeling until I saw him through the side- mirror standing next to another person as they talked and laughed recklessly.
One day, my dad cracked a joke as we sat at the table, he said that one day there were two people standing at a bad station awaiting to board a bus. It was a mother and her son, and when the mother noticed that she had a few coins and that she wanted to save some for their food. She decided to tell her son a trick on how they would save the coins.
The mother told her son, that when the bus arrived, the taunt would ask the son of his age, and she told the son to only say she was six and not seven, and by doing that, they would have saved some coins for their food. When the bus arrived, they boarded, and as planned, the taunt asked the little boy, "How old are you?" And the boy was calm and composed to answer back just as he had been told by her mother, 'six!".
The taut was curious and wanted to know when the boy would turn seven, and he seriously asked him, "And when will you be seven?"And the boy answered back loudly, "Immediately I come off the bus!" People on the bus were amazed and we were all laughing at the boy. I thought of this small story as I drove home, I was in the same, his immediately after I left Shawn, and a friend appeared, or was he not his friend? Or was it the person at the gas station? But why would he just appear when I had left? Something wasn't t okay at all.
However, I had no time to think of all that, I had some other work to attend to, and I was were very sure that a lot of clients awaiting their messages to be responded to at the offices, I knew the mailbox was full of messages that needed to be responded to.
I was late, but not much late, it took me thirty minutes to drive to my apartment, and I was finally at the door. I had promised to come back, and yes I did fulfill my lovely promise that I had made to the door, no matter how much time I took out there. From the bar of the door, I quickly had the keys and forced them to the. lock entered the room that gave a warm welcome of sweet juice smell that came off from the kitchen.
I dropped my bucket on the couch and moved straight to the bathtub. Time ticked and the clock was making the ticking sounds. Suddenly, my home cell phone beeped with a message, and I could hear it vibrate.
Sooner than later I was there to check the message, holding the towel rolled in my waist tightly not to let it drop off. You are late at work, aren't you? The message read although it was. from an unknown number, I didn't bother much to ask who it was. I already knew that I was late and I needed to quickly go to the offices to cover up for the hours I had lost outside. It wasn't my fault either.
I had not intended to be late. I knew my sister had several attempts to call me via my phone without success, I wish she had an idea that the phone was no more and it had been crushed into pieces during a long night fight with the vampires, I don't know about father, maybe through the office secretary of the boss at the office, had also made attempts to reach me out with no success.
I had a small tension that made me feel heartburn and a small knot in. my stomach that completely refused to go away. I looked at the mirror and admired my figure, my face was still and smooth with no marks. Apart from the small bite I had, that was away from the face. Thank goodness no one would notice where I had gone, unless with the use of Some cults. had to move, time wasn't with me- I had to go, Yes to the office.
But before I thought of moving out of the house, I thought of carrying a few clothes with me in the back of my car. I wasn't sure if I was to get back to that apartment anymore, I had a fear that they might come for me, just as D had gazed and said, they would be there at my door waiting for me.
