Chapter 27

"She is not just a worker but also my wife!" My Father answered sharply as he dropped his glass on the table. "What? Congratulations man! She is such a cute girl! The monster commented as he raised his hand and gave his friend a heavy high-five. "Now back to business, we had a deal that the debt would take part of the dowry, and look here today I have twenty-seven thousand dollars to help your company get back to its feet again" The monster made another statement as he handed over his briefcase to my father, who had let his eyes remain wide, sharp as he stared on the briefcase, He wasn't sure of what he just heard, but he quickly grabbed the bag and had its zip open.

He however never wanted me to know about this especially since he had been keeping it a secret from me. He never told me about any debt our company had and that we were on the verge of falling.

He quickly moved and went to his room to keep the money. "But where did your new wife go? Isn't it too early for her office doors to be opened?"The visitor asked as he stretched his left hand on the sofa, raising his right leg on top of the left.

I heard his words and suddenly fell into some deep thoughts, I wasn't sure of what I just heard, but I was curious. It was still early for Vicky to leave the house. I suddenly stepped down towards the living room, and from afar, just behind the kitchen door, leaned my body out of the kitchen supporting myself by having my hands on the kitchen door, I had my eyes on the wall and looked at the clock.

It was still early. My heart unusually jumped and I had my left hand fingers fidget, I could sense something bad, even though I could not understand why Vicky left that early. I felt that my blood became more warm between my veins and my nerves were unrestful.

I wasn't able to resist my fears as I moved from one point to the other in the kitchen, holding my head and scrabbing my hair with my nails.

"No. No! I must find out what is going on! Or what exactly is she planning!"I was troubled as I whispered and held my breath. I moved out of the kitchen and rushed to the main door.

"Jessica...not this time, I said you will be here to serve the visitor!" A deep breaking voice from my father made me freeze on the door, as I withdrew my hand from the door lock. I lost my energy and turned away from the door.

Later

Vicky had gone to town and threatened the new sponsor, I couldn't publish my work anymore. I had stayed at my father's place long enough, I had been threatened by my sister, that she wouldn't get back to work if I wasn't going to get married to The Monster. No one else provided and took good care of my mother other than my sister.

I had to do all I could to make sure she didn't lose the job. For the sake of the mother. No one knew who the man was, he was but a monster and a witch to me, now I could understand what D talked about when he said, my father Owed the mother witch something.

And I was the girl to be exchanged over the thing. I had no other option but to do it for my sister, mother, and the company.

My entire life, since Mother moved out of our home, I never thought of getting married too soon, but over the past week, I have been preparing for this day. I always knew that I was never going to be able to choose whom to marry because I never had feelings for men and I really hated men. I didn't have the right to choose anyway. Hell, I didn't have any rights at all.

My opinions and feelings didn't matter to anyone, not even my own father. In fact, my father viewed me as a tool to gain more wealth, to create an alliance and a good bond with Ethan, whom he said was his all-time friend and business partner.

"For a businessman and businesswoman, prices come first," Father said. "Your desire for Something comes after." Yes, right. It could be for a businessman, but not for a businesswoman. If a Businessman married for fame and wealth and didn't like his wife, he could just marry another. Usually, most of them had several Wives and Workers, but for a businesswoman the story was different. There's nothing I could do. l just had to please my husband and watch as he married other women when he got bored with me. I felt my blood boil, but then, it was not the time to get angry.

Leaving all the bad thoughts behind, I studied myself in the mirror. My new maids had spent hours preparing me, making me look more beautiful than I normally was. I wore a white and golden dress, and my brown hair was combed back beautifully with golden hairpins in the shapes of flowers and leaves.

The makeup was perfect, the only problem was the jewelry. They were beautiful but heavy, now that I was wearing a lot of them. I was already feeling weak because of nervousness, or maybe it could be fear. I didn't know, but I was feeling sick. There was a knot in my stomach that refused to go away no matter how hard I tried to calm down.

"My Lady, don't you like the dress?" Aylor asked. Aylor and Lidia were my new handmaids, and have been taking care of me for over the past week and since Vicky moved to our house. They were the only ones I could talk to. I would surely miss them once I left on the very day. "No, I love it. It's beautiful." I tried to fake a smile, but I failed. Aylor could see and sense the fear On my face.
