CHAPTER 12

All of the she-wolves are getting along with Ken, and they're happy to see someone like him inside my own home.

Suddenly, Felix elbowed me that's why I looked at him with confusion on my face.

"You look happy, Alpha Alec."

"Really? I don't think so."

"It's true. Lately we've been noticing that your aura is different, we feel it inside because you're the Alpha. Is it because of that man?" Felix's curiosity that I didn't immediately pay attention to.

Didn't I look happy even though Ken hadn't been here that day? When the she-wolves and pack warriors walking and talking to them didn't recognize him?

I'm sure they're happy too, they can see someone with those blue ocean eyes and plus because of his pretty face.

Yes. Ken had this prominent yet feminine face, the combination of pretty and masculine. When he's not smiling or he's serious, his masculine face is radiating and when he was smiling and talking to someone, his pretty smile and feminine features are standing out.

"I am the same tho, Felix. When Ken didn't come or when he did." I answered him.

I don't want them to think badly of Ken. As much as possible I want him to be more comfortable inside of my territory without hearing those kinds of words that are circulating around.

"Hmm... oh okay Alpha Alec." He immediately left me because he had to patrol again with the pack warriors.

I just gave it a try, when I was left alone I thought about the room I made to be a mini-library. I was in the office and that was my immediate thought. What time is it so I can just do my work in the mini-library?

I got up from my seat, took the laptop and other things I needed and walked out of my office. But I didn't expect a woman to bump into there. Fortunately, I stopped quickly because sh e was carrying a cup of coffee.

"Oh? Are you okay?" I asker her.

She immediately looked at me but sh e also immediately avoided my gaze. She nodded at my question. Weird.

"Is that so, that's good. By the way, where are you going? Are you lost?" I ask again because my office is the only room I have on this floor.

Sh turned to me while looking at the cup full of coffee. "U-uh... This is for you. I brewed it for you Alpha Alec." Sh answered in a modest voice.

"For me?"

She nodded.

"Hmm. Oh okay, come to my office first." I answered and entered my office. I put my things on the table and turned to the woman I didn't know.

I took the cup she was holding that only had coffee in it. Actually... I don't drink coffee. David is the only one who likes to drink it.

When I put it down on my desk, I turned to the woman in front of me again. She was just looking at me as if sh w was waiting for what I had to say. Wait... who is this woman? Why is he not familiar with me?

"Anyway, what's your name? Are you new here?"

"Yes, Alpha Alec. My name is Nina."

"Okay, Nina. Did you need anything?"

"Uh, Alpha Alec, I'll go first." She answered and I left there dumbfounded.

She walked out of my office. Until she finally got out, I mind linked with David to come to my office and drink the coffee that was on the table.

I picked up my things again and went straight to the mini-library on the second floor of the packhouse. When I got there, I noticed that the door was a little open. I stopped in front of the door and grabbed the door handle, I slowly pushed it in to peek inside the room to see if anyone else was there.

I looked inside and stopped when I noticed a person lying on a long brown couch. A book was covering his face so I didn't know who it was.

Does anyone else know about this mini-library other than the ones I ordered to organize this room that day? I sighed softly and quietly went inside and close the door. I don't know who he is because this is the first time someone I don't know has slept here.

I quietly walked behind the couch where he was lying, I went straight to a table not far from him. I placed my things I brought there properly and then looked again at the person lying in front of me. I just stared at it until my eyes landed on the book on the table in front of it. Out of curiosity, I walked over to it and picked up a book from the table.

When I read the title I automatically smiled. This person has a taste in reading books, but until now I still don't know the person lying on the couch, I also don't want to wake him up because I know he is deep asleep based on the depth of his breathing.

I was about to ignore it but I was stopped by the smell of something sweet when I passed behind him again. I turned to the person lying on the sofa, wondering and thinking because that smell from that person was familiar to me.

That was so familiar to me that something suddenly prompted me to remove the book that was covering his face. I couldn't stop myself and I slowly held it and carefully lifted it up to see his face.

When I picked it up, I didn't expect to see him here.

"Ken..." I whispered his name as I watched him sleep soundly.

That's why that sweet smell was so familiar, like the fragrance of flowers in the morning.

I watched him for a few seconds before I completely removed the book from his face. I put it down from the books next to him. I carefully went out to get a blanket from my room and when I returned, he was still fast asleep.

He was so vulnerable when he was sleeping.

I covered his body with the blanket and looked at him again. I don't know that he literally wants to read these books that I recommend him to read.

These books are what I really like. I really meant to put those books here for Ken to read, I didn't expect it because those were the exact books that he read it here.

Before he woke up from my gaze, I returned to the table and quietly did my work there. I just want to feel what it's like to work with these books around me, it's not bad and it seems like I'm going back in time because the smell of books is what I'm smelling.

Half an hour passed and I looked at Ken, he moved a little while lying on the sofa, I just watched him until I saw how he tightly held the blanket I gave him.

And I saw how he buried his face from there.

I suddenly swallowed what I saw. Suddenly, my heart beat faster while observing his face. I don't know that he was like that when he was sleeping. He's cute.

I continued to work again, and Felix would come in suddenly but he would stop right in front of the door because I could hear how loud his voice was while calling me.

Fortunately, he quietly opened the door and peeked in, until he saw me sitting and Ken lying and sleeping on the couch. He apologized for what he did, and he said there's something happened to David.

He said that he was in Shiena's hospital and was writhing in pain while holding his stomach. I immediately wondered, I know he can heal himself if something happened to him but then he can't?

I was wondering what he was saying, until he said that David drank some coffee inside my office which is why Shiena is calling me today. So he means that what happened to him is that because of the coffee that I gave to him?

"Okay. I'm going. I'll leave you here to check on Ken, when he wakes up tell me right away." I almost whispered to him that he quickly answered.

I got up from sitting and looked at Ken who was fast asleep before I finally left the room. I quickly got to Shiena's hospital and a she-wolf immediately pointed me to David's room.

I opened it and found them talking, David lying on the bed and Shiena sitting next to his bed.

"Alec? You're here. Do you know what happened to David?"

I nodded and went inside. "Yes, Felix told me. Is it because you drank a coffee in my office, David?"

He hesitated to say yes to me so I sighed. "Is it from the coffee I gave you?"

"Y-yes, Alpha. But Shiena said it would be fine—aww!"

"Aww? When I say you would be fine? Maybe you're forgetting you're in a serious situation now, David?"

"How was he, Shiena?"

I heard her sigh. "There's tiny particles of silver on that liquid he ingested. Did you do it on purpose, Alec? Do you want to kill your Gamma?"

"Of course not."

"Not? Then what the hell happened this to him?"

"That coffee is not coming from me. One of the she-wolf gave it to me. I don't drink coffee right? The she-wolves in the kitchen know that and you know that too. Only David is the one who drinks coffee and I gave it to him but I didn't know that there was silver mixed in the coffee she gave me."

"What the hell? Why didn't you tell that girl you don't drink coffee?"

"I don't want to hurt her feelings because she made that for me. And I think... she's new."

"New? Alec, you don't apply for a she-wolf to put in your kitchen. Only, Pine, Elisa, Tina and the other two she-wolves named Lyn and Ria are always in your kitchen. So are you saying you don know her and... you suddenly accepted what she gave you?"

I don't know what words I need to say after Shiena said all of those words to me. Because of that, everything that happened just now came to my mind.

"Okay. I'm going to the kitchen—"

"No. Leave it to me."

"To you? How about David?"

"As long as he's resting here, he's going to be fine. And his blood are fighting with those silver particles. Don't underestimate your Gamma, Alec."

"But you just said that he was in a serious situation and you're going to leave him here?"

"Are you questioning me now, Alec? I'm a doctor here and I know what I am doing and saying. Now, leave and do your job. I'm going to report to you if I know something. Just let me go with Felix."

She said. I did nothing but respond to what he said.

I left the room full of questions. That woman's face is still vivid on my mind and I'm asking myself why I didn't recognize her but... she said her name to me? It's...

"Nina..."

"Who is Nina, Alec?" Shiena's voice made me look behind me and I saw her just coming out of David's room. "I'm asking you who is Nina, Alec?" She repeated her question to me.

Until I told her who the girl named Nina was to Shiena.

"She's the woman who gave me that coffee and the reason why David is having a hard time right now." After I said that to her she nodded her head and we headed out to the hospital.

After we came back Felix already went down to the living room, he nodded at me and he followed Shiena to the kitchen and I went upstairs where Ken was sleeping. And when I came back, he's still sleeping soundly on the couch, I smiled but seconds passed my smile gone when I felt like we're not the only one inside.

I smelled that scent, it's mixed with mint and strawberry. The first time I smell something like that. So she purposely leave her scent like that so I can smell it?

She's fucking flirting with me.

I closed the door and locked it. "Reveal yourself, intruder."
