CHAPTER 22

A few days passed. One morning, I noticed the other Omegas like me beginning to put up decorations all over the pack house. I was curious what was going on but had no one to ask, as all the Omegas I knew were busy. I was too shy to ask anyway; I felt like I'd just be in the way.

So, I decided to help them, maybe by washing dishes in the kitchen, but they wouldn't even let me touch them.

I tried to talk to them, but they were so busy. I didn't want to force a conversation because it seemed like they were preparing for an important gathering.

With nothing to do, I simply went to the table to grab some bread when someone new walked in. I turned to look and froze when I recognized her.

Wasn't she the same woman who was with Beta Felix and Gamma David the other day? She’s Alec's ex-girlfriend, right? I thought she had left already. What was she still doing here?

"Oh? Who are you? What are you doing here? Don't you know that people like you aren't allowed here?" she suddenly said, which made me frown.

What did she say? I'm not allowed here?

She stared at me from head to toe, as if trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Why was Alec's ex-girlfriend so rude? She had a terrible attitude.

"Aren't you an Omega?" she asked, grabbing an apple that was sitting quietly in a basket on the table.

I didn't answer. Instead, I just watched her. I couldn't understand why her presence annoyed me so much.

"Why are you not answering me? Cat got your tongue?" she asked with a grin.

"Why are you so persistent about asking me if I'm an Omega? What if I am? What's the problem with that?" I replied.

She took a bite of the apple she was holding while staring intently at me with her gray eyes. "Because an Omega like you isn't welcome here. I just found out that the Dark Moon Pack even accepts Omegas like you. Did they accept you here for a trashy job? What's your job here? Do you mop the floors? Do you clean the bathrooms and toilets? Do you wash the dishes? Name it. Those dirty jobs are for you and people like you. And you Omegas smell like trash," she said with a smile after spouting those nonsense things right in front of me.

The words that came out of her mouth were heavy. I know that Omegas like me are weak; we're not like wolves such as her, or Alec, or Shiena. But the way she demeaned me, the way she made me feel, it was like I was going to explode with anger.

Why does Allison even exist in this world? Why did she have to be born?

I took a deep breath. I couldn't believe this was the kind of woman Alec chose to love. She was so disrespectful and shameless.

She crossed her arms over her chest. Her eyebrows were raised, as if she was amused by my silence. Arguing with her was so petty and pointless.

Is this the reason why she's here in the kitchen? To say those stupid words? Oh, c’mon.

"Allison right? Before opening that mouth of yours and spouting nonsense, make sure to use perfume when you go out or just take a quick bath, okay? Your breath and your attitude stink up the kitchen. They're even worse than an Omega like me. And please make sure you use proper hygiene, Allison.”

She was left speechless by what I said. Did she really think I wouldn't fight back? No, and never.

I had already endured everything in my past. And now, I'm supposed to be hurt by someone like her and by Allison's words? That wasn't going to happen.

"W-what did you just say?!" she screamed furiously.

I ignored her and left her in the kitchen, where her face was already contorted with anger. Her face reddened with so much rage, and I didn't care if she was going to blow up because of her own stupidity.

As I walked out of the kitchen, I could still hear her screaming my name, even though she didn't even know me. She was calling me names I didn't even know where they came from.

And this was the first time a woman like her had told an Omega like me that I didn't belong in Alec's territory. Who was she to decide something like that? She wasn't his girlfriend; she was just his ex-girlfriend.

And what's wrong with being an Omega? What's the issue? We are still humans.

We are living in the same world as them, breathing the same air as them. So what's her problem?

Consumed by my frustration, I didn't notice who was coming. As I turned to go up the stairs to my room, I collided forcefully with something, causing me to fall to the floor.

“Ouch!”

The impact was so strong that my fall to the floor was painful. The bread I had taken from the kitchen also fell from my hand.

"Hey! You stinky Omega! Take back what you said!—Alec?”

I froze when I heard Allison say that name. When I looked up to see who I had bumped into, my eyes immediately widened as I saw Alpha Alec's glaring eyes fixed on Allison.

"What did you call him, Allison?”

I glanced at the woman standing not far from me. I saw her face turn pale as she, too, looked at Alec.

I knew what was going to happen. If she was afraid of Alec, then I was afraid of how her life was about to turn out.

Alec's jaw clenched.

I don't know if the Alpha was going to kill her, but before I could get up from the floor, Alpha Alec quickly grabbed Allison by the collar, causing her to scream in pure terror.

"What did you call him?!" he growled.
I quickly got to my feet and ran to where they were. I felt a surge of panic. This wasn't what I expected!

"A-Alec! Let her go!" I shouted, frantic, as I tried to pull him away from Allison.

"Who told you to say those things to Ken, huh?! Did you hurt him?!"

"N-no! I didn't! I didn't hurt him! Please! I'm sorry, Alec!" she cried, begging.

She looked so ugly while she cried.

Hearing this, Alpha Alec shoved her hard, causing her to fall roughly to the floor. I saw a mix of anger and fear on Allison's face as she looked at me.

I could see an unusual emotion in her gray eyes. I didn't know what it was, but I felt a sense of dread. I swallowed as we stared at each other.

Her mouth curved into a smile, "You're defending him, Alec? Are you falling in love with a weak Omega like that guy? You're no different from your Father—"

I nearly screamed from the force of Alec's roar, which was amplified by his power.

"What the f*ck did you say?!" he shouted, which only worsened the fear and pain I was feeling.

I fell to my knees, trembling, clutching my chest! What's happening?! I can't breathe!

"Ken! Ken! Where are you?!" I heard Shiena's voice shouting as she got closer, but with every passing second, my chest tightened even more.

I was getting weaker, my body trembling from the immense energy I felt coming from Alec.

My vision was spinning from the dizziness and difficulty breathing. All I could think was that I needed to get away.

"Allison!" Alec shouted again.

A hand suddenly pulled me away, and the last thing I heard was Shiena's scream as she tried to wake me, "Ken! Oh my god! Don't sleep! Alec, stop what you're doing! Have mercy on Ken! You're going to make him lose consciousness!" she screamed again, filled with both anger and fear.

But I was so tired. I felt completely drained.

"Ken, Ken, please don't sleep! I'm here! Pl
ease don't fall asleep!" That was the last thing I heard from Shiena before the darkness completely took over.
