Chapter 38

**Brad’s POV**

Harvey walked inside, his head low.

“Why are you home?” I asked and he cast a quick glance at me. He didn’t know I was home, he stared at me and my fists clenched. I walked up to him and he hung his head again.

“What happened?” I gritted my teeth and grabbed him by the shoulder, I rose his face up and examined the hits that were already changing colour.

“Nothing happened.” He glared and I rose my eyebrows defiantly.

“Don’t lie to me. Who did this?” I questioned.

He struggled out of my grasp, “Just stop! Don’t pretend that you care.” He stalked off upstairs. I ran my fingers through my hair.

I purposely walked towards the door. Perhaps Angela would have some answers.

**Angela’s POV**

“I don’t know if Harvey ever told you but he is constantly being bullied at school, the principal won’t address it...” she was interrupted again, this time by Brad.

He walked to my side, his eyes full of questions. I saw the woman become momentarily incapacitated as her gaze fell on him, she blushed and cleared her throat. I wanted to growl in annoyance! Is this what passed for professionalism these days?

“What’s going on? Harvey is bruised pretty badly.” Brad directed at me.

“He is?” My heart wrenched and I grew even more impatient. “This is Vice-principal...” I looked at her for clarification.

“Stone.” She replied.

“She was now about to tell me what happened.” I brought him up to speed. His eyes fell on her and I knew he was getting annoyed.

“Well?” He asked, and not gently at all. She snapped to attention and delved into her explanations.

“I was just telling your wife, that Harvey is constantly bullied at school. The Principal would confront the matter. The child’s father is a prominent businessman and the school doesn’t want to interfere.”

“Who’s the man?” Brad questioned.

“Carter Blandwell.” She answered and Brad quirked his eyebrows wondering if she was serious.

“That’s what passes for prominent businessman? The man is basically average in the business sector.” Brad’s voice grew harsh and I entwined my fingers with his. He squeezed my hands, thankful for my touch.

“How can you be sure?” The woman, seeing our brief touch, steeled herself. He voice deeper.

“Because he is basically at the top of the business sector.” I clarified. I saw her eyes widened.

Yep! Bet she didn’t know that and I bet had the principal knew exactly who adopted Harvey, he would have made an effort to shield the boy.

“Thank you for the information, and do tell the principal that Harvey’s father, Brad Regal, will be paying him a visit.” Brad pulled me fully indoors and closed the door before the woman had a chance to respond.

I felt my anger growing. How dare that man use his connections to have his son protected and mine hurt!

I covered my face and tried to breathe, but the anger kept growing and I could feel my entire body tense up. Brad circled his arms around me.

“I know you’re angry. I am too.” He consoled but his words weren’t working. My fists clenched at my sides.

“I-I” I couldn’t even speak. Then I snapped! How dare that insufferable man! I pulled out of Brad’s grasp.

“That son of a—“ I reached for my coat and was about to open the door when Brad covered his hands with mine.

“Angela, stop. Right now you need to be with Harvey. You know he doesn’t trust me yet.” He made a point I couldn’t ignore. I needed to see if he was badly hurt.

“Okay.” I conceded and began walking into the house. I saw Brad reach for his keys and was halfway out the door.

“Where are you going?” I questioned.

“I am just going to see this man.” He was blunt, the words coming out as if it was no big deal.

“Brad.” I voice was a warning.

“I am just going to talk to him. Try to sort this out.” He replied nonchalantly. Before I could dissuade him, he was gone.

**Brad’s POV**

I rang the doorbell impatiently, until a surly man in his mid-thirties appeared at the front door.

“Who are you?” He asked rudely and I smiled inwardly. Not many had the courage to speak to me in that manner, then again this man didn’t know who I was.

“Mr Blandwell, I am Brad Regal.” I saw his eyes lit up and he smiled wholeheartedly.

“Mr. Regal, it’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. Would you like to come in?” He offered, his tone turning to politeness all of a sudden. I waved off his offer.

“I am afraid, pleasure is not one emotion I feel by coming here today.” I responded and his eyes misted in curiousity.

“I believe our sons’ are acquainted, in fact I am sure that your son is constantly proving to be a problem with regard to my son.” I clarified.

“Is that so?” he asked, clearly unsure of where this conversation was going.

“Yes, rightly so. Your son has been violent against my own and I have come to ask you to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

His eyes shone with enlightenment and he smiled. “So that’s your son. I wasn’t aware you had one.” He countered.

“Well you off all people would understand how much I value my privacy.” My tone turning deadly and I was sure my eyes were glaring.

“Yes I understand that. As with our sons’ I make it clear that I do not interfere with his affairs. He can well hold his own as you have witnessed. You’re son, however will learn to be tougher. I see no harm in a little fighting. It’s food for a man’s soul.” He was on dangerous paths now and I now saw him for who he was, a bully himself. No wonder his son turned out that way.

“I see.” I kept my voice deadly calm. I ran my fingers through my hair and just as swiftly, I swung out at him and skin clashed against skin in a sickening collision. The man backed away and fell, half way inside and halfway outside.

‘What the f—?”

He began but I cut him off.

“Didn’t you just say that there was no harm in conflict? Or did I interpret you wrongly?” I glared and he winced at my tone.

“You will pay for this.” he ground out.

I smiled, a sickening one and I kept my gaze level to his. “Take your best shot. Go to the authorities for all I care. You know who I am and I am guessing your brain, however small, can comprehend the social circles I run in.” This was the first time I ever used my connections as a security policy but it was worth it. “You’re complaints won’t reach anywhere. I am quite untouchable and you will do good to remember that.”

“Now I will suggest that if you don’t want me to pay you a visit again or perhaps ruin you in the eyes of all business society, ensure your son stays away from mine. The consequences will be greater than a punch.”

I left him where he was, entered my car and drove off.
