Chapter 50
**Angela’s POV**
The four of us sat in our hotel room. It was after one and we were no longer wasted and tired. The time since we came to the resort was spent at the pool and at the bar. Now we were all refreshed from our baths and we were arranged hap-hazard on a bed.
Jaclyn disappeared and returned with a couple of shot-glasses, lime, salt, and our liver disease of choice; tequila.
“You cannot be serious!” Emilia giggled.
“Don’t you think we had enough?” Anne piped in. I watched on in amusement. This was all so familiar.
“I am deadly serious; you have not had enough because you are all sober.” Jaclyn sounded accusatory.
“You guys know she won’t take no for an answer.” I offered and they all smiled. Obviously feeling empowered Jaclyn plopped down on the floor and we grabbed some pillows and joined her on the floor. We arranged ourselves in a circle.
“Let’s make a toast.” Jaclyn offered as she handed us each a filled shot glass. She raised hers and spoke. “To Angela, my love I hope you are finally happy in that marriage of ours.”
“If that kiss was any indication I would say that she is.” Anne teased and I blushed.
They all laughed. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell us,” Jaclyn complained as we placed our empty glasses down and she started to refill.
“I am sorry. I was going to but—“ tried attempted to explain.
“It’s fine!” she muttered. “But, to make up for it, you better tell us everything now.” She insisted.
I was shocked. “What do you want to know?” I knew I would regret the question.
“How was the sex?” she and Anne questioned at the same time.
“I-I” I couldn’t formulate the words.
“Come on! We can swap stories.” Jaclyn offered and the girls giggled.
“I really don’t think I want to hear of your sexual exploits.” I directed at Jaclyn teasingly and we all laughed.
“You’re right! You don’t want to hear!” she raised her eye brows suggestively.
“Seriously.” Anne piped in.
I swallowed, “It was...incomparable. The most exquisite feeling you could ever imagine.” I offered and they all awed.
Jaclyn handed us another shot and the toasts kept coming.
We were all feeling buzzed and decided to take a break from the shots. I laid my head on Emilia’s lap and pinned my gaze to the ceiling, while Jaclyn and Anne laid belly first on the floor.
“Do you remember when we used to wonder what our lives would be like? We always wished that our husbands would be really good friends that way meeting regularly would be easy. They would go off and hang out and leave us to our devices.” Emilia mused.
“I so remember those days. But now our husbands are all in different fields.” Anne sighed.
“Speaking of which. Are you happy with Brad, Angela?” Jaclyn stared at me and I knew she was reading my expression for any hint.
“For now.” I confessed.
“Do you love him?” Anne questioned and I stilled.
“I don’t know.” I replied and they looked at me disbelievingly.
“He said, love is not something he can give. I can’t coin the feelings I have or else I might feel as if I don’t mean that much. I am content with what I have right now; I don’t want to feel unrequited.” I confessed in an attempt they would drop the subject.
“She loves him.” Emilia sounded thrilled.
“Hey!” I exclaimed and she shrugged.
“You will stop denying it and when you do ensure you tell us!” Anne commanded and I laughed.
**Brad’s POV**
Angela was back home around midday the following day and she was exhausted. She walked into the kitchen, eyeing Harvey and I.
“What are you doing?” She giggled but I saw the effects of the lack of sleep etched on her features.
“You’re back.” Harvey showed more excitement than I ever saw. He directly went to her side and she hugged him. My throat dried at the scene.
“I am! How was your night with Scott?” She questioned him.
“It was pretty good. And how was your day?” he questioned and she smiled and her eyes found mine.
“It was amazing but I missed you guys.” She directed at us both and I gained some comfort in her words.
“So what are you doing?” She stressed the words, her eyes falling on the dirty dishes, and the batter I was stirring.
“Making pancakes.” Harvey offered and she smiled.
“And how is that going?”
“He sucks.” Harvey replied dryly and I frowned. Angela burst into laughter.
“Sorry it’s not my forte.” I joined in. Angela strode towards me and placed a quick kiss on my lips. Before I had time to react her lips were gone and the primitive side of me was awakened.
“That’s why I am here.” She whispered and took the bowl from me. “Why don’t you guys sit and I will make the best pancakes you will ever taste!” She teased.
After she completed her task we sat and devoured.
“How is school, Harvey?” Angela questioned and I knew she was holding her breath, as was I. We were both silently praying that things were better.
“It’s actually really good. I kind of made a friend.” He confessed and I saw Angela breathe once more.
“You did?” she questioned excitedly and I was contented to look upon the scene.
“Yes, his name’s Ethan. He recently moved here.” He clarified.
“Great! Why don’t you invite him over sometime?” Angela offered and his eyes lit up.
“Really?” he sounded disbelieving.
“Of course! Whenever you want how often you want.” She encouraged and I sighed contently.
The day had ended as quickly, Harvey and I offered to clean up afterwards while Angela got some rest. To which she negated and ushered us outside while she cleaned. When we came back in, Angela had fallen asleep in the living room. Harvey went to his room under the excuse that he had home work to complete. I gathered her in my arms in a cradle and carried her off to bed. I laid her down and raised the covers to blanket her.
I bent and placed a kiss on her forehead. She squirmed and muttered something unintelligible. I doused the lights, bathing the room in a soothing darkness and exited. I planned to go to my study and catch up on my business affairs.
